Well I just had the strangest thing happen. XD I tossed an egg to get rid of it and it spawned four boobies. Was so surprised, I immediately rounded them up to keep them.
Unfortunately you have to kill a male peacock I'll probably change the recipe in the future
Maybe turn peacock feathers into something you can occasionally find in nests generated with peacock eggs for those who want to avoid the peacock murder? That's a place I can think of where you might find a feather.
Could be neat to include feathers for the other birds too, though I don't know what use there'd be for them. The peacock feathers kinda only have the one use as is. Unless you were to put them in the bird book somehow as a sort of documentation- but that might encourage more bird murder. XD
I figured out what was going wrong with the desert and water phoenixes. It wasn't registering variants of those biomes, so only 'Desert' and 'Ocean' would work. 'Desert Hills' or 'Deep Ocean' wouldn't. As for the dark phoenix - that one isn't biome specific, but instead hatches at a full moon!
Oh I would have never guessed the dark one!
Still not sure what's going on with the ocean phoenix, though, because I've tried hatching in a pure Ocean biome multiple times and it keeps coming out normal. =/ It says ocean on the screen and I'm pretty sure I'm over ten blocks away from a beach. Stubborn little birds just don't want to be blue.
Okay so, I have noticed that there are a handful of mods that implement maybe a single skeleton version of a mob, or different versions of the skeletons already existing in the game. What I would like to see, however, are skeleton versions of pigs, wolves, cats, cows and sheep in a single mod. We already have the skeleton horse, so it would be nice to have skeletons of the other animals.
Why?
Variety. *shrug*
If any of the mods currently implementing multiple breeds for animals wouldn't mind including skeleton versions as well, that would be really great. =D
Are albino peacocks supposed to not be able to mate? I found one in the wild and it eats seeds and the mating-hearts will show up but he wont mate with another normal female peacock. I guess that makes sense though so they're extra rare
Also I couldn't find much info about the albinos in this mod, so I was wondering, are peacocks and phoenixes the only birds that can be albino?
Okay last thing, I'm trying to hatch an albino phoenix above cloud level, but I keep getting normal phoenixes, is it random or am I doing something wrong?
I managed to hatch that one! I think you may just have to go higher up- I know I hatched mine up as far as I could go, but I think if you just go high enough that the biome name changes (or disappears) from the F3 information then that ought to be good?
Unless it's anything like the desert or water phoenix. =/ I have successfully hatched an icy, cloud, and end phoenix but every attempt to hatch the desert, water or black one winds up being a normal phoenix and I can't figure out why. Pavo said it was determined by biome, but ocean and desert biomes have repeatedly given me normal phoenixes and I don't even know where to go for a black one- I've tried down by bedrock and in a roofed forest but neither one worked.
Oh I don't know why, but there seemed to be no spawn eggs available for those mobs in the game. I've got the Not Enough Items mod, and if I type in something like "sheep" or "spawn", the spawn sheep item doesn't appear in the list.
I just re-added the RealisticLivestock mod to my game now and found that the vanilla sheep, cow and pig eggs I had stashed in a chest are still there, but they're still not showing up in NEI's list for some reason. Not sure what's going on there.
Okay, I have figured out that there seems to just be something wrong with my NEI that it won't display mob spawners for me- when I installed this mod, whatever spawn eggs that weren't previously considered spawners just got shuffled into the spawners list, I guess. It's weird, but it's totally NEI's fault at this point because those spawners shouldn't be hidden in the first place.
Edit: It was actually INpure Core's fault. Go figure.
I guess that just brings me back to my concern regarding rainbow sheep. XD
There seems to be a bug in from what I've seen, the 1.7.10 versions of this mod. I'm just messing around in creative with the dragons and i made a cave for them but it seems that the dragons are walking right through the walls! Its only the hatched dragons that do this, I spawned a dragon with a spawn egg and put a lead on it and tried to pull it through the fence and he didn't go through, but the others did. Spawn egg dragons will not do this but hatched dragons will. Is there a fix to this, or is it purely a bug? I also tried to renter the world, and restart minecraft to see if it was a one time issue but it wasn't. It seems as if the dragons themselves are bugged.
EDIT: For anyone else having this issue, the best fix i have found for this is to spawn a mother dragon (via spawn egg) and the hatchling, if closeby, will follow her like any other baby mob in Minecraft, therefore not slipping through the walls on their own and staying by the adult.
Yeah, I just had this issue in my game, too. I figure there must be something in the code that allows young dragons to still phase through walls like the Ender Dragon boss until they reach the adult phase. I think the best thing you can do if you don't have a mother is strap them to a fence post with a lead until they're adults so they don't go wandering away into the nearby blocks.

Oooh- is this still being worked on? I have been wanting a horse mod with different breeds. Especially for 1.7.10.

Oh, any chance we could get a female variant for the cardinals?

That's fair!

Well it's not really unrealistic, some farmers do dye their sheep in real life for identification purposes and so people can't steal their sheep.

Aw... disappointed to know, but thank you for the reply. =D

Sorry to ask this again, but I'm really curious to know if the common sheep will ever be dyeable or made compatible with the jeb_ easter egg?

Yeah, I have biomes o plenty. That might be confusing the birds a bit. =/
