Apr 30, 2011Yorda posted a message on [64x] GLIMMAR'S STEAMPUNK v.22 NOW RELEASED! + Latest Newglim City Download! + GS Redstone Pipes Add-On Pack!Posted in: Resource Packs
You are awsome for making this post. And Google is even better for helping me find it via GIS. :smile.gif:Quote from Glimmar »Glimmar's 'Improved' Biome Colours
Rename to 'grasscolor' and place directly in your 'misc' folder in the 'minecraft.jar' file.
Rename to 'foliagecolor' and place directly in your 'misc' folder in the 'minecraft.jar' file.
It is necessary to place these directly into your 'minecraft.jar' file or the changes will not be recognised...that was my experience anyway! If you wish to swap them over by placing them into my texture pack, it will be necessary to re-install Minecraft, then Glimmar's Steampunk (with the new biome files), followed by xau's MC patcher. So dropping them directly into the 'minecraft.jar' file is a lot easier.
When I have enough new things to include in my texture pack, I will release an updated version. I'm not sure that new biome colours warrants the hassle of re-installing from scratch, but if there is sufficient demand from folks who are not overly familiar with dropping things directly into the 'minecraft.jar', I'll package something up sooner. :smile.gif:
As mentioned previously in the thread. If you use the 'WildGrass' mod, you may wish to keep my original biome 'grasscolor.png' file as it gives much more dramatic (and in my view, realistic looking) clumps of exotic grasses.
I travelled my world extensively, looking at the grass and foliage, but there's always going to be areas I haven't been able to cover, so if there's anything that looks too weird, let me know. Just bear in mind there are supposed to be areas of ochre/brown/dark grey grass - these represent specific areas according to the biome reference triangle Notch himself created:
Hence why my grass is purposefully texturally low-key for heather, mud, worn, dead, course, stoney (scree), frozen, etc. areas that add variety to any landscape.
Foliage has some surprises too, but not as extreme as before, although some trees are supposed to look slightly pink to give the impression of blossom...see first pic above.
Please remember that the theme of the pack is supposed to lean towards the dark side of an industrialised world...not a pretty 'medieval' one. If you are unfortunate enough to have landed or already built in an area of dead looking grass it's not 'my' fault. There are pleasant and barren areas in any world and if there is going to be variety, you have to take the good with the bad I'm afraid! :smile.gif:
When I've more time, I'll see about making a totally toned down set of biome colours. :smile.gif:
I'm also thinking about brightening up the light levels of the textures in general for those that don't like the dark at night!
@ Xytherea: Nice work there!
A new 'Spotter' Airship skin coming very soon!
Apr 20, 2011Yorda posted a message on Mystical Islands - V2 Now Up! (1.3 compatible, no crashes)EDIT: I had to update my version of MCpatcher to the Beta patcher. The crashes I had experienced had nothing to do with this mod.Posted in: Minecraft Tools
Mar 15, 2011I've had nothing but trouble with MyMCServ. I cannot connect to my server 30% of the time and they sent me another invoice not ten days after I paid the first one. They are never "online" and it seems like one person is doing all the work.Posted in: Other hosts
Sure, they may be cheap, but from what I've seen so far, you get what you pay for. Avoid.
Mar 5, 2011Posted in: Minecraft ToolsQuote from Calistas »Quote from Yorda »That desert is amazing! Can you upload it for the single player crowd (and the lazy?).
I will most certainly must learn to make maps like this.
I didn't keep the first world so I generated a new 5000x5000 one : world.zip (217.37 MB), Map here
For this one I added Lapis Lazuli which is not in default settings.ini, but all credits go to dave11 who made this Desert Rivers settings.ini.
If you go out of this 5000x5000 map and you don't have BiomeTerrainMode Minecraft will generate basic landscape.
Many people love you right now. I will have you know I shared this with another forum and we are all very happy.

Feb 15, 20111. Unrar/unzip Optimine class filesPosted in: Minecraft Mods
2. Drag drop Optimine files into Minecraft.jar (which you've opened with an archive program)
3. Delete META INF folder
4. Open MrMods with archive program
5. Drag and drop MrMPatcher.jar and the MODS folder into the base /.minecraft/ folder (not the /bin/ folder!)
6. Run the MrMPatcher.jar in the base /.minecraft/ folder
If you have a texture pack use your usual install process for that between steps 3 and 4. If you have more mods than just these two and a texture pack you will have to pay attention to installation order or keep an eye out for mod conflicts.
Feb 13, 2011You have some fantastic talent for this! Are you a professional artist in some capacity?Posted in: Resource Packs
I don't usually use 16p (32p!) but for this I will make a wonderful exception.
Quote from PumaBearLionMan »Amazing, Simply amazing. I wil download EVERY version.
I went to your webpage, and saw every painting of yours. I think your art is great. The paintings are out of my price range, but I still love them. I saw your shop wasnt set up. I think you should make T-shirts with your paintings on them. Trust me, I would buy ALOT of those. Your artwork is amazing. And and btw, thanks for the texture pack XD.
As usual, Hobbes has the answer to everything. (I had sigs turned off so I didn't notice the banner.)
Feb 9, 2011Posted in: Minecraft ModsQuote from jsgnextortex »its funny coz......with the last update my fps are better without this patch.....
Instead of boosting my fps it decreases it dramatically......something like:
*without the mod: 50 fps
*with the mod: 6fps
Other mods installed: GLSL shaders (without applied shader), HD texture fix
It's funny "coz" your mods are obviously conflicting with each other.
Imagine that, two extensive graphic mods conflicting with each other. Haha oh wow what are the odds?
Feb 8, 2011This mod isn't EXCLUSIVE like some people are implying. It is just that you have to make sure other mods do not overwrite Optimines files. I know that Modloader overwrites one class file of Optimine's but the game still functions for instance.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
For every single crying teen in this thread I suggest troubleshooting your own problems.
1) Have you tried to install just Optimine on a fresh Minecraft install?
2) If you use other mods did you check to see if Minecraft worked after you applied each mod? A problem could be caused by two entirely separate mods conflicting with each other or improperly installing a different mod.
3) Did you read, and then understand, the readme file(s)?
4) Are you using a popular archiver to open minecraft.jar? Odd programs tend to cause problems. Winrar, Winzip, and the most mainstream OS alternatives are suggested.
5) Did you follow the instructions in the first post? Did you read the readme?
So on and so forth.
Feb 5, 2011Posted in: Mods DiscussionQuote from mrbaggins »Quote from Yorda »What determines if the side of a block is "green" with Better Grass? I'm curious...
A grass block will have grass on the sides if the block next to and below is also a grass block.
From the side:
The top block will have grass on the left hand side, because there is grass below it.
The top block here won't have a green side, because the block below it is stone.
Awesome. Go go OCD!

Your explanation was clear and it makes sense.
