Hi all, just wanted to let the community know that I'm currently building a custom server written in Erlang, which will therefore provide support for all operating systems, and make it very easy for inexperienced users to create addons for their servers. I'm not sure how many people here know Erlang (and I assume the number is exceedingly small), but I'm currently hosting the code at http://github.com/Xymostech/ErMinecraft/ if anyone wants to check it out. Check out the wiki on github to find out how to use it.
Edit: The server is now working! It's not spiffy or fancy, and the code is kinda confusing for now, but I will be working on cleaning it up now. I'm still trying to find an easy way to create addons, so people won't have to delve into the code to make spiffy things, but I haven't come up with anything yet.
As it turns out, you don't even need water underneath your tilled parts, as long as it's within... 3-4 blocks away from it or so, it should work fine (I have water surrounding my farm, and the small section in the middle).
Edit: And I just remembered that saving doesn't work on my mac.. :sad.gif: At least I have a picture?
It seems that farming just plain hates me. I've made hoes of wood, stone, and iron, and not only do they not break (which is pretty fun) they also don't seem to produce seeds from grass. Either seeds are a lot more rare than I think they were (I'm tried on somewhere around 200-300 grass so far with no luck) or farming just plain hates me in general.
Anyone else have this problem/know a fix? I've tried on two different browsers, and have reset my cache on both of them already.
Ever thought that it's simply easier to write TNT in a 16x16 block then writing DYNAMITE in the same space?
Yes, I have thought that, but considering that it's TNT written on the side, and not Dynamite, then I'm going to assume that it is TNT, and thus doesn't need any sand in it.
I think that the reason we never realized they had 4 legs is because whenever we got close enough to notice, they would immediately turn to face us, and then chase us away as quickly as possible. I found it pretty fun to walk right up to the spiders *without* having them jump at/kill me.
Actually, TNT does contain sand or sawdust. I believe it was to absorb the explosive compounds, but I may be wrong. It definitely has sand in it, though.
Actually, it doesn't contain any sand at all! You're probably thinking of dynamite, which is nitroglycerin absorbed in sand or sawdust.
I made a small lava forge that always spits the resources back at me. It's also built so that I can't possibly be burned by the lava block. I have no use for flints because of it and I don't delete my lava block to get my resources like some people kept suggesting when there were no flints.
How'd you get that to work? If you don't mind sharing, that is.
Actually, if you get a small (ie 1x1) section of lava, if you throw all of your ore into it and then place a block inside the lava, all of your ingots will be thrown out of it so you can pick them up. Obviously it's harder than flint, and you slowly use up your lava, but it works in a pinch...

Mine's built using... Essentially D-Flops, built from combined AND and XOR gates, and RS latches.
Edit: Here's a picture of the whole thing:

Tell me if you like it!

You can download Erlang at http://www.erlang.org/download.html, and there is a crash course to Erlang at http://www.erlang.org/doc/getting_started/seq_prog.html.

If you press Command-Shift-3, it will take a screenshot of your whole screen, and save it to the desktop.

Yeah, if you place a single metal block anywhere in a crafting window, it will give you 9 of the ingots back.
