Hello. Every time I want to create a new world/server with different mods than another one, I delete all my mods in .minecraft but I have each saved in a separate folder completely. When I do this though, things like waypoints on my minimap or other important data is always lost; and when I re-install it to play the previous world all my waypoints are gone and I have no idea where my base is.
My basic question is how would I go about switching mods out to another without losing data like this?

Me and my friend have spent endless hours working on this server and I just got a ton of diamonds and really good enchantments and improvements last night.
10 minutes ago, my computer crashed and it's lost now I opened my server to me in the middle of nowhere with nothing.
My friend wasn't and still isn't on and he'll be really disappointed if it's gone.. Is there any way of recovering my world on the server?
P.S. I've tried to level.dat and level.dat_old thing, didn't work.
