This is the community I grew up with. The one website I went to almost everyday for the past 10 years. Sad to see it go. If it weren't for the Minecraft Forums, I never would've joined communities, created maps, or made new friends.
I understand this decision stems from financial issues and I do understand that it is a major task to upkeep a place such as this. However, I do feel something else could've been done to perhaps allow the community to continue itself. I see a future of knock off forums for minecraft and scammy, ad covered minecraft mod and map hosting sites. I know CurseForge exists, but this was the one and ONLY place I knew I could trust.
R.I.P. Minecraft Forum. While you will still exist and are readable, we all know you are dead.

The world is starting tomorrow and I'm excited to meet everyone on the server! Should be a lot of fun!

I believe that Minecraft has lost a lot of it's original and nostalgic identity. Boot into Beta 1.7.3 and compare it to 1.20.2 and it is a huge difference in feel, world-building, style, etc.
For starters, the world is generated differently. The textures are different. Music from C418 plays more often and since it's a single composer, there are consistent musical themes that we are often left without in modern. The block palette is much smaller, forcing players to be more creative. The fog, lighting, and overall ambience is also completely different. The lack of modern features also makes certain modern frustrations non-existent in older versions of the game.
However, if we look at modern, there is so much more content to explore, collect, craft, and overall things to do. The game overall looks better, feels more like a modern AAA game, definitely runs a lot better, and has developed a unique identity separate from it's Notch-era. It's much more stable and easier to mod. There is a wide variety of music that fits the feel of the game (Although I wish there was more of the Minecraft leitmotif throughout). Plus, the original content is still there. You can play modern just like you would in beta or alpha (to a certain extent). However, playing like you're in beta and alpha in modern versions almost feels weird and rushed considering the vast number of blocks to build with and things to see or do.
Alpha, Beta, and Modern are three different games with three different styles and gameplay types. A lot of players that I know yearn for what the game felt like when they first played it, hence why there are so many people playing Alpha and Beta MC. However, you can't say that modern Minecraft is a bad game, because it contains everything that Alpha and Beta does. It just does things differently.
I would be lying if I said I agreed with everything Mojang has done throughout the years. A lot of content they add, it seems, they don't particularly care how it affects the main game loop and as such many new features are mostly ignored. They have gotten rid of a lot of the charm the earlier editions of the game had by removing a lot of the atmosphere, music, and stylization that made Minecraft so iconic in the first place. If they actually thoroughly thought out each addition to the game and made everything serve a purpose other than for the sake of just having it, then maybe Modern wouldn't be so bad. They also really need to bring more ambience back into the game. I love the way modern looks and performs, now just make it feel better. Make it to where I can get lost in the world. Lessen the amount of structures to bring back that feeling of isolation and survival.

Looks interesting. I'll check it out when I get home later and update you once I give it a run.
Okay, so I just finished a full playthrough of the map. I really enjoyed it! The puzzles were fun and not super overwhelming and I overall had a great time. The reward for finding all the secret keys is a little lackluster, and I never could find the red key legitimately, but I loved the secrets nonetheless as it felt like there was more to this trial that meets the eye.
It was well worth the play. Thanks for making it!

What do you like about playing Vanilla?: Playing with friends and having the flexibility to create just about anything you can think of without the need for mods. I also love just wondering aimlessly around the world while listening to C418's amazing soundtrack.
Do you have any hobbies outside of Minecraft?:Hiking and adventuring. I am a Disney fan and love to visit the Orlando theme parks. I'm also a computer nut and have quite a few technical skills that I love to practice. I also enjoy music and want to write music one day.
Do you have any experience with Minecraft Communities?: I'm currently part of an active vanilla SMP server that we call the Craftbox and have been their IT guy and active member since 2017. Previously, I ran smaller servers when I had decent internet and when I lost that, played mostly singleplayer survival MC. I'm looking for another community to meet new people, find people I can bounce my creativity off of, and have a laid-back time with.

Your discord invite link at the bottom of the post is either invalid or no longer valid. Was wanting to hop in and get a feel for everyone before I dropped an application.

First off, this comment isn't constructive criticism and is pretty useless. Plus your statement of 'bland areas' and 'complaints about the late monument', while may be valid complaints, it doesn't define the map as 'bad'. If you want to play a bad CTM map, have a go at making your own, before making an account to shun people who try.
Secondly, the map overall isn't bad. While the builds aren't refined and a lot of areas have boxy or redundant design choices, fundamentally, the map is pretty good. The monument being late is NOT a bad thing, as it adds an aspect to the map in making sure that not only are you getting out of the areas with the wools, but you are also transporting them safely between intersections. As a very first CTM map, I'm excited that they finished a 16-wool map complete with genuine challenge.

That moment when you're so bored you just want to recreate other people's worlds O_O
In all seriousness, this is a really cool idea. I have a world that was my first ever world I ever had in Minecraft and it was in creative. It works in 1.14.4 and so have at it! I'll dm you a link.

Actually, it has nothing to do with the map. If you somehow lose connection to the internet, you can still connect via LAN but you won't have access to your skin or your online profile. I believe what happened is you must've lost connection or simply connected with a different account. This isn't a map issue, it has something to do with your connection or your player profile.

I attached a very wholesome LP to the OP. I loved how well they went through the map, how well the videos were edited, and I just loved their family dynamic! They completed the map, so be sure to check them out!
