I love how on this thread, this topic there is barely any trolls, and everyone is mostly showing support... after reading the last 15 to 16 pages of the better than wolves mod post.. and doing the same here it took me a second to realize i was even on the same forum...
This forum and this mod doesn't have controversy around it, and its plain, simple, but yet so advance.. so so advanced. Don't you love it?
anywayz can you make pipes placed directly above storagecarts desposit (and if its wooden take out)
you would probably have to code it twice, once for north/south, next for east/west. I hope you love your life space toad, because the community loves you :smile.gif:

glasstabels2 posted a message on Fully automatic vanilla tree farmthis is my first forum post, so if copying and pasting the above pictures doesn't work, then I'm sorry, comment on letting me know.Posted in: Survival Mode
*edit: I found out that they didn't work in the preview, then made a funnyjunk post because the insert image looks for a url, but that didn't work, so here's the link to the images: http://www.funnyjunk.com/funny_pictures/2297903/Check desc/
btw, thats why it's an entire HOUR after my goal... all that time was spent trying to get this to work like a noob. REALLY sorry, I'm new to this :sad.gif: HALP!
I didn't want to figure out the editor becuase I was low on time. My goal was to finish an automatic tree farm which I had already pencilled out the designs for and discussed with Xaiier in detail, but I wanted to finish it the day pistons came out, because I figured it would be the only way I could possibly be the first person to have done this, and I wanted credit for starting this madness, along with Xaiier of course.
unfortunately, I slept in, and didn't realize that pistons had come out till this afternoon. That, combined with ever so slightly limited computer access, some 's, and plenty of unexpected glitches delayed this post till 5 minutes or so past my goal :angry.gif:
The first design is actually shown in the last 2 pictures, because it doesn't work. It turns out that when sand is pushed by pistons when it is falling, it sometimes doubles, which causes the staircase to rip itself apart from having too many pieces in it.
I should start at the beginning though. The purpose of the staircase is to bring sand back to the top after the tree has been harvested. Why the sand? It's useful for harvesting the tree and transporting anything via pistons due to its obeying gravity. Not only does this allow a constant feed of something to push with, but it also allows the sand to be seperated from the wood at the bottom, and brought back to the top.
When I found out about the staircase not working, I sped up the clock powering it, but realized quickly that if sand could be generated, it would be a lot less painful than that annoying staircase of about 30 pistons. So if they ever fix the duplication glitch, we'll have to use the staircase method, but that will also be the very thing that fixes the staircase, so I'm going to save that design in case they ever get rid of the duplication glitch.
The 3rd through 5th pictures show the sand generator. It uses at least one sticky piston, with another piston, both facing each other with 3 blocks between them, and a hole in the middle, like this:
where cobblestone is a regular piston, and mossy cobblestone is a sticky piston.
The sand gets generated in the hole in the middle, however it requires a one clock. Because directionality no longer matters for repeaters, it is extremely difficult to start up the average one-clock, unless it is an easy-start clock, which I'm sure has been done before, but my own creation is what you see in picture 5. It is much more compact than the massive thing I used to create because of redstone wires connecting properly to repeaters now. I haven't tested if a rapid pulsar will work because I wanted to see how small I could make my easy-start clock.
The next 2 pictures are of the tree being harvested, and I'm sorry there weren't more, but that was all I could get even after planting and harvesting 3 trees. It is EXTREMELY fast, and I kinda suck at screencapping. :sad.gif: I would say it takes 5 seconds max, but I didn't exactly precisely time it, I was too busy going crazy trying to find the prt sc button hahaha.
Finally, the next two pictures are of the sand being cleared out. Instead of a staircase, the currently working version just generates sand at the top, and destroys it at the bottom. Right now I just have the wood going into a random line out for harvesting by axe, you just stand at the end, turn the machine on, and as soon as the tree grows, it immediately goes to work (through block detection at the bottom). It sends you the wood, and all you have to do is set your guy up and tape the left click button down, and go to bed. Wake up in the morning and ta-da!
I still have to make a copy-pastable "cell" of it, as well as lines from each cell, and junctions for each line. This is just a proof of concept of the hardest part. (hopefully the hardest part... I sure hope I don't run into many more problems with the lines and junctions or this might take a whole week!) Once I have everything copy-pastable, I'll use mc-edit to make a huge one. Also, I still need some water somewhere around it to harvest at least enough of those on average to keep planting it(Etho, if you see this...). Finally, I've kept it open enough that I want to run minecart tracks from cell to cell for planting and fertilizing --more on that later though. If someone has found a way of turning wood blocks into items (maybe through pistons?) that would be even better, and would allow a fully afk tree farm that could run for weeks. How? If there are minecart tracks taking you around so you can automatically plant the trees, then you could have a farm of 64 cells, and instead tape the RIGHT click button down so you'll plant saplings.
So if ANY of you find a way of crushing wood PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me!!!!
Final words before I go to bed:
Sorry this post kinda sucks... I'm dead tired, and this is my first post, I'll edit and make it better later. I'm getting fraps tomorrow, so I'll try to have a video of what I've got by this time next week. After that, I'll be gone for 2 weeks, so whatever I get I get. I REALLY hope I'm the first to do this in vanilla mc, I worked really hard on it. And if any of you take this further, GREAT! It has a ton of potential, but if you don't give me and Xaiier credit, there will be BLOOD!!! Haha just kidding, but seriously I will be really mad. I only started playing mc a little while ago, and this has been my dream ever since: to be known as the guy who started automatic tree farming in vanilla mc. So give me a shoutout when you guys expand on this! I wanna be involved until tree farms are more exact of a science than mob farms are nowadays! I wanna help! - To post a comment, please login.

They aren't adding a storyline, therefore there is no end. STFU about them ruining the game.

Currently unfurnished, but as the competition is architectural, I didn't feel it was necessary.
