posted a message on What do you think of Windows 8?
    Quote from BEASTpoint2

I just wanted to know what the Minecraft community thought of the upcoming Windows, Windows 8. There is a poll above asking what you think. Seeing as how it doesn't support Java, I would think that the Minecraft community wouldn't be too fond of it. :)

Uhhh Java supports it with no updates I run Windows 8 as my 23/7 OS.

The new scheduler is a large benefit due to it finally having a fix for bulldozer based archs.
I am thankful for this and I think anyone who plans on getting or has a Trinity APU based laptop.

I like the look of metro so that is enough to move me over.

Some of the other under the hood tweaks are nice like the new way Wifi is handled to make it not so slow or the new way windows interfaces with USB devices to improve speeds.

Did not work, I cannot change my resolution. Its still like 640x480 and I want it to be like 1280x1080 or whatever. The driver prevents me from doing so.

What do you mean the driver prevents you from doing that you might taking a screen shot of your CCC screen

Ah HP my guess is you installed the drivers over the HP drivers this is known to cause massive issues.

Ok you need to boot into safe mode this can be done by after the menu for boot options is gone just tap the F8 button until a menu that has safe mode listed comes up go down to safe mode with networking with the arrow keys.

Once in safe mode you need to go into control panel go to program features.
Remove anything that has the name AMD or Nvidia in it or if it says hp display driver or something like that.

Then open device manager and go to display drivers and uninstall anything under that category.

    Then download this
    http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER
Run the registry cleaner and the normal cleaner to make sure any registry entries are removed and them files.

After this boot into normal windows it should use the default windows drivers.

AMD drivers tend to bug out when installer over HP drivers or anything that's not AMDs.

So now download this fresh and install it.
    http://sites.amd.com...on_win7-64.aspx
Hit catalyst suite and download run as administrator and install it.
If you say you already did that I am going to stop helping you they reason they did not work earlier is due to the jacked up drivers already installed.

This will work if you follow the directions correctly.

Just checking, but you did make sure to choose A-Series APU under desktop graphics right? The 6530D graphics are found on APU's so you will have to look under there for drivers.

The APUs use the normal AMD drivers.

    Op

    Hit Windows key + R
Type dxdiag in the box that opens hit enter
In the new windows that opens hit save information.
Open the txt document you just saved and copy paste the information in it into your post.

If you want to play minecraft smoothly and nothing else you should build a cheap computer or make someone else do it and get linux on the machine.

Or just get an AMD Trinity based laptop and run windows.

You sure? I'm pretty sure it's been changed much for any AMD processors...

However, there is ONE problem with Windows 8. It seems to want to swap to the pagefile every time I open a metro app, it can't be caching for prefetch or something else...

They implemented a new scheduler and it had the fixes so it would send threads in a better fashion to bulldozer.
All processors should see minor improvement but BD should have much greater changes.

You only want one version of Java at a time. For you using Windows 7 x64, you only want the Java 7 x64 JRE.

Actually no he needs both the 64bit and 32bit if he is using a 32bit browser.

I would like someone to also come up with an APU build, or use a Ivy Bridge Intel HD 4000 IGPU vs this build in Price to Performance.

Were sitting in this area where AMD is sorta releasing Trinity but were not seeing it up for sale by its self and its transitioning to a new incompatible socket.
Trinity A10 would be faster GPU wise but this is a MC build so the difference in video performance would be minor.

So buy sources you mean somebody is most likely just ****ing with us.

You would be surprised how often leaks from Taiwan end up being true.
It is not like someone randomly emailed them.

Just wondering, Pro's and Con's vs Windows 7? I've heard bad things.

    Windows 8
The new scheduler is faster and it is optimized better for AMDs processors.
Other tweaks that make the thing faster
They rewrote how the system handles USB to improve speeds to get the most out of USB3
More memory efficient UI or at least its supposed to be some people have reported the opposite.
Better integration with Xboxes you can start games ect with your PC it also has a virtual controller but it did not work for me.
    Much faster boot up
The ability to boot it from a jump drive like a lot of Linux distros can
The ability to refresh the PC makes fixing a computer quicker so I can just refresh Windows no moving files or reinstall.
Some people dislike the UI but that a personal preference thing.
It costs money but sources say Microsoft is killing retail versions and the OEM version will cost 80$

Well the new version of Office is up for preview.

I love the new installer like Blizzards games you only need to download part of the program to start using it.
Other then that there is some new skydrive features ect.
The UI has also been tweaked to fit windows 8 more.

It crashes when ever I try to do something so I have no been able to test much else.

Nvidia will rarely ever update their video drivers from what I have noticed. So far, AMD's drivers is mostly a "one-size fits all" sort of deal which makes it easier for them to maintain all of them. Also, OpenCL is used more often then Cuda, but OpenCL isn't used in plenty of applications for some reason.

AMD in the past had a set to release at least once a month a driver update.
Nvidia on the other hand currently releases only when needed for say bug fixes and when games release.

AMD recently made the announcement that rather then release once a month they will be getting updates out when games release or when they are done with specific features.

A lot more programs are coming out soon I know Lame handbreak and 7zip are working on an OpenCL update.

@Stormcrown please show me one feature for Skyrim that's locked for Nvidia the only games I know that locked features were arkham asylum and hawk2

I dunno Christoi, your charts don't calculate for the superior GTX drivers! Mainly CUDA.

Yes Cuda too bad the 6 series sucks at compute and AMD uses an open standard OpenCl and a lot more programs support it then Cuda.

Man only if a company bought ATI and they had massive driver improvements sense then.

Actually based on my personal experience only I would say AMD drivers are a lot better then Nvidias drivers because AMDs drivers have yet to kill my GPU fan and cause my GPU to die from heat.
