I can't tell if people are kidding when they say that.

It was sarcasm in my case.
Most spec programs don't pick up a swappable graphics most of the time and that's what me and I think most of us assumed he had at first.

I'll run Minecraft now. I installed the latest drivers for Intel GMA last night.
    For comparison, I have a GMA 4500 and a T4500 Dual Core

This is vanilla Minecraft (normal render, fancy graphics):

That's better then what some people have reported on here with the same GPU.
    http://www.minecraft...are_performance

Also what speed of ram do you have?
I think this and newer drivers is the answer Apple bothers to put in highspeed ram unlike pretty much every other OEM ever.

If most of them have terrible performance, what about the rest?

fwiw I have a GMA x3100 and I bump into Linux related problems with MC far more than performance related problems. And the processor is far less powerful than the one listed (T3200 Dual Core, iirc).

Anyway it was my understanding that i3, i5, and i7 are like "Sandy Bridge" or whatever it's called, which adds Graphics-processing capabilities into the processor for Operating Systems that support it. I suspect that is at play.

The rest are the two people in this thread that are reporting wayyy higher fps then anyone else I have seen with a Hd 3000 on this fourm or anywhere else

Sandbridge has an IGP the HD 3000 it is quite a bit faster them the GMA at least in Directx games Minecraft runs just as crappy on both. This could be due to bad drivers that are now fixed that's why I would like someone else to test because I am interested why they are getting this performance.

I don't run optifine. But I also don't use fullscreen, so that might be helping. And yeah... I'm obsessive over cleaning out my hard drive.

Not running in fullscreen would help but does not explain the frames by its self.
Ya I guess maybe Intel did put some massive driver updates out only reason why you would be getting the frames when people with similar specs last year were lucky to get fast and normal render distance.

Yeah, get one of those cards from 2008 that were still branded ATI! /sarc

    It's AMD now.

In his defense AMD did not drop the ATI branding until 6xxx series.

There are some but don't expect to find one for less than 3000$. Also, do we have OLED TVs ? Didn't know that.

Samsung has 1 55in I know they sell and its 9k and assuming the same price per in of panel it would be 3109 for a 19in monitor.

    Quote from 16cadrian

I'm pretty sure even the most power hungry monitors don't consume as much as OLED TV's, besides weren't OLED displays one of the many things invented to shut the hippies up about global warming?

OLED is a lot more efficient then LCD tech that's why sammy uses SAMOLED on their phones.
First of all us "hippies" aren't going to shut up about climate change because its a proven scientific fact.
Second of all OLED has better color quality and larger viewing angles then IPS so its for a lot more then just power efficiency.

My laptops IGP is faster then the WII GPU and close to on par with the 360s.

i mainly meant they should lower prices because of the IB, even though they suck at OC

Intel has never had large price drops with their tocks.
The I5 2500k is quite a bit cheaper then release already

That's a steal, although the SB CPU's should be lowering in price anyway, IB came out and Hasewell is on it's way...

Haswell is 11 months out at this point that's like saying Nvidia should lower prices the 7 series is on its way or AMD should lower prices the 9 series is on its way.

I really regret getting a PS3 now that I actually know what it's like to be able to game on PC. That money could have gone towards an i5 2500k especially since I have a Microcenter about 45-60 minutes away that I could have gotten a good deal from.

Hey maybe the waiting and not buying the 2500k when AMDs 8350 destroys Intel or the 8550 that releases before Haswell.

What's even worse is that they are using Medal of Honor to get preorders for BF4. It looks like a COD franchise waiting to happen. I know the companies are just trying to make as much money as possible, but would it kill them to release a finished product for once? I would rather have a great game released every 3 years from a franchise than a good game every year that requires patches right away just to work properly.

They did the preorder Medal of Honor for early beta for Bf3.

But Endgame is not supposed to release tell mar 2013 and they will want to keep Bf4 release away from that to sell DLC so it could very end up being 2014 before the release of BF4.

While I doubt it they might end up actually innovating maybe add 128 players and do something a bit more unique then modern day.

That reminds me, I should really get the expansion packs for BF3. I just have the default maps right now and that's probably why I have so few servers to choose from. I've been too busy with the campaign and Half Life 2 to get the DLC though. I'm also gonna be getting Mirror's Edge and possibly Red Orchestra 2(still thinking about it).

If you plan on playing it a lot get BF3 premium its a DLC package its cheaper if you plan on getting them all.
I was going to get it but the recent announcement of BF4 has be worried that EA is going to be releasing too many Battlefield and I don't want to support that.

Premium is a waste too if you are a person like me

    Premium 50$

    Armored kill 15$
    Aftermath 15$
    Endgame 15$

    45$

So its all that plus 5$ for just cosmetic.
But if you don't already own Back to Karkand its a good deal as that's another 15$.

My fps on Ultra usually varies from 40-80 so I just set it to High. I also have a frame limiter set to 59 fps and Vsync enabled as well. I haven't played on large maps like Omen though with 64 people in which case my CPU would probably struggle quite a bit.

Ya the larger maps hurt my FPS but I think it is more down to CPU more then the extra GPU stress.
Armored Kill scares me a bit and how my performance is going to be.

I'm guessing by max out you mean 30 fps, because even my 6950 can't max out BF3 with 4x AA and 16x AF. If that is the case, I would not consider that maxed out. Maxed out to me means everything on the highest settings playing at 60 fps on multiplayer(in the case of BF3).

I agree my 6970 only barley pulls 75fps but the dips I am pretty sure are result of my CPU rather then GPU.

It seems it would slow multitasking down. I mean, a desktop is basically an area to launch things from. Having multiples would seem to go against that.

    Probably just me :P

Well you could have windows lined up to see the info on them and then switch to the other screen rather then hide all the windows and opening another. It is something you would have to get used to it to get the most out of it.

I never use it on any of my computers even though they have it.

If he could update the 6850 would be a better value.
Plus he is on a laptop anyway.

Op you are SOL unless you want to buy a new computer.
