    @Tangle

I expect the major review sites won't get around to this until the release of Windows 8.
But it would be nice to have more information on how Microsoft has optimized for the BD arch Tomshardware did a small preview with a earlier build of it and saw some improvement.

So if you would be kind enough to maybe do some benchmarking of Windows 8 on BD that would be nice.

    Quote from Hlywood

So in a nutshell, the default windows 8 has no desktop. It has basicially an app store and a start bar. So Gabe fears people will turn to publishing games on the "app store" rather than on steam. And since steam is an application that has to be found and downloaded, he figures people who do not know about steam will simply check the app store for games.

Uhhhhhhh about the no desktop thing.

The app store still lacks quite a few features of Steam and I doubt games will quit using it any time soon.

Also if they hate app stores why the **** are they moving to Ubuntu.

Notice how Ubuntu has a market and it has games.

but you'd think at least one or 2 of them would be found in morrowind, cyrodil, or skyrim, skyrim probably less so.

Elysweyr is part of the Aldemri Dominion ATM and Skyrim Morrowwind and Cyrodil are members of the Empire.
I doubt there is much movement over the border, General Tullius mentions the entire Imperial army (excluding the forces in Skyrim handling the civil war) are guarding the border.

Traditionally Elysweyr has never rarely been on the same side as Skyrim or Morrowwind, this also contributes to the low population of Khajiit.

The Khajiit we see in Skyrim or Cyrodill have been Suthay-raht.
The ones who can be mistaken for bosmer are called Ohmes.

I don't really care about it being the fastest you know... I am just giving it something people have not. A damn chance. And the way you are putting it, you are expecting me to only get 4 fps XD.

No one has ever said we hate it because its not the fastest. I don't need to buy a I3 to know its slower then an I5.

The 8150 is still a pretty **** deal.
However the 8120 is pretty good deal for a cheap workstation computer.
But this is still a gaming forum so people are going to look down on them pretty hard because compared to Intels CPUs for gaming they are more expensive and slower.

As far as I can tell from Tom's Hardware's desktop Trinity benchmarks, all they've done is traded floating point calculation speed for integer calculation speed.

Uhh what Trinity is better then BD across the board Floating point calculation speed is a lot slower on any BD based arch such as pd.

Pull the ram stick out and test if everything is working then something is wrong with that ram stick.

Assuming this is the case it is probably best to run a memory test.
    http://www.memtest.org/download/4.20/memtest86 -4.20.usb.installer.zip
Download that and run it put it on a USB drive then reboot put back in the ram and boot from the USB and run a memory test.

    Piledriver may/is worth waiting for.

I decided a while back if Trinity was decent CPU side it I would wait for PD if not I would of spent the spare money I had on an I5.

Well I would be waiting months just to get the money for the motherboard.
So I would probably sell it no one in my family cares if we sell gifts.

I would then sit on the money from it and wait for PileDriver.

I am not sure why Intel jumps up to so many pins but AMD has only gone up 1 pin in recent years and the new socket really only brought more power control features.

posted a message on Can brown outs be dangerous to my PC if I use a power surge?
Surge protectors do nothing to protect you from a brown out.
It is best to shut your computer down during them or use an UPS.

No, not all the ISPs do that. Google as an ISP worries me greatly, they are well known for being careless with privacy.

Please find me one ISP that does not log your traffic information for at least a month.

    Time Warner Cable

Time Warner informed us that they store IP-address logs for up to 6 months.
Interestingly, the company is the only ISP we contacted that also posts information regarding its data retention on its website.
    Comcast

Comcast did not respond to our inquiries but has mentioned a 180 day retention policy for IP-addresses in BitTorrent-related court documents. On some occasions cases have been dismissed because logs were no longer available, meaning that alleged infringers could not be identified.
The 180 day policy is also mentioned in the Comcast Law Enforcement Handbook that leaked in 2007.
    Verizon

Verizon’s Privacy Office informed TorrentFreak by email that information about IP address assignments is retained for 18 months, the longest of all ISPs who responded to our request.
    Qwest/Century

The Qwest/CenturyLink Law Enforcement Support Group informed us that IP-address logs are kept for approximately 1 year. As is also the case with other Internet Providers, Qwest/Century noted that personal details are only disclosed when the company receives a subpoena.
    Cox

Cox failed to reply to our inquiry, but previously it has mentioned a 6 month retention policy for IP-address assignments in the press. In Cox’s “Lawful Intercept Worksheet” the company also mentions that logs are kept for “up to 6 months.”
    AT&T

AT&T’s IP-address logging practices are not public. Initially the company did not reply to out inquiry, but upon publishing AT&T’s Privacy Policy Team promised to get back to us as soon as they find out how long logs are kept. We will update this article as soon as their response arrives.
    Charter

Charter lists no information about their IP-address retention in its privacy policy. However, a reader alerted us to an answer on Charter’s website where it states that residential IP-addresses are retained for one year.

Interesting, but who wants to live in Kansas?

A boring, flat, land locked state.

You'd need internet like that to distract from how terribly uninteresting your region is.

Its not only in Kansas its in Kansas city it spans two states.

Ocean sucks anyway and its not actually flat most of its pretty hilly.

    Better then the deep south.

Wait you can control the tv with a tablet wasn't that one of the big feature of the nexus Q?

Does it record it actually or just store it on the Internet?
I am assuming it integrates with play and that kinda kills off the use of the Nexus Q.

Does it use the internet bandwidth over fiber?

I guess the Nexus Q would be more for people who aren't in the Kansas city area to get some of the features.

    soo..

how do they plan to give everyone up to 1Gbit/s? it would require major infrastructure changes in most countries and or cities.
also, i dunno if i like the idea of google being the owner of my internet connection...

Ya my guess is Google will pay for it mostly off adds from the personal information you send over the net.
But all the ISPs do this anyway.

DNS crypt and https everywhere try to spy on my internet bitches.

As someone who is moving to Kansas City this just makes the deal even greater.

Hopefully its pretty cheap for 1gbps and they offer free static ips.

I find that FedEx and UPS (from the US) are fast, but those $50 "customs" charges seem to be a bit of a scam.

How is it that USPS + Canada Post can do it for $7?

Not really going through customs can be a pain.

USPS is owned by the USA government and I am assuming Canada Post is the same.
