How can you like or dislike something that you've never tried

for all you know there is a good reason for the price

I don't have to try bottled water just to know its overpriced compared to my filtered water at home.

Overpriced, and not THAT good anyway, if you want a good PC/Laptop at a decent price, go to Dell.

Alienware = Dell that's part of the reason they suck the only thing good Dell makes is there monitors.

But that way is so much more unstable. %10 chance of a crash.

Actually i run this way 24/7 on my desktop with 4 gigs of ram because you actually get higher FPS when you limit how much ram minecraft has access too. Because the reason minecraft leaves so much crap in ram because java wont remove it if its only using 20% of its allocated ram because of the way the garbage collector works.

Or you can use a .bat to limit minecraft to 512mb of ram and be done with it.

2 year old 8 core Intel processors perform better than AMD 20 core CPU.

in 10 years if our programs still aren't multithreaded enough to make usage of more then 8 cores then all programmers should be punched in the face.

It feels like the bug in the cache isn't the only issue though.

That shouldn't cause such a massive drop in performance.

Windows 7 is not optimized for bulldozer yet and didn't the Linux kernel get some patch regarding some cache issue with bulldozer. On top of the issues with the chip not clocking as high as they planned because of some issues with GF.

This might of put it ahead of phenom 2 at least and would have forced Intel to push pricing down a little bit.

Obviously something went horribly wrong lucky AMD graphics division is competent so they can keep the company going hopefully.

Maybe by the time I build my build at Christmas AMD can have some of the problems fixed in a semi update. Alot of the performance issues from what I've read is a Bug in the cache that couldn't be fixed in time for launch but will be fixed in piledriver. There is 2 billion transistors on this chip it should be making every Intel chip cry for mercy. but yet phenom 2 is beating it down.

They could just release a 32nm thuban cpu 8 REAL cores or just alot higher clocks.

This was going to be my next upgrade but clearly AMD ran into some problems with the new arch and process. The original prices only make sense when the clocks are around 4.8 ghz. Intel is probbly going to be my next cpu unless AMD can pull Pile driver our and fix the cache issues the clock speed and power consumption issues. But as much as i want AMD to win there is no way pile driver will compete with Ivy bridge

The republican party is split there is allot more moderate candidates that won't make it to the general election. We just have the Teapartiers to pick from on the republican side. Here in Kansas a mostly republican state allot of people don't like the super right wing and are planning on voting for Obama at least from what Ive picked up from talking to people.

Just get a new Computer to replace the CPU you will probably need a new motherboard and dell likes to make it so no one else motherboards will fit in there and i think that's running DDR2 memory so that's outdated.

How much more voltage do you think i'll need? (i'll be using a Asus Crosshair 4 Formula motherboard if that helps)

Well you gotta see how the cpu handles there is no set voltage for set clock speed. All chips overclock differently.

I got a 500 MHz overclock on my Athlon x3 on the stock cooler stays around the 40c range under load. Because there are 3.7 ghz phenom 2 that use the same cooler id guess around that area tho you might have to step up the voltage and that means allot more heat.
