Toms has some benchmarks on the 4770k. It's about 5-10% faster than the 3770k but the IGP still gets its ass handed to it by Trinity.

So no one is surprised at all.

This is not what interests me I want to see what Intel brings out to compete with Kabini and Temash.

    Quote from EmptyGroceryBag

I just looked up the benchmarks on passmark.com. The 8350 beats the 3570k by 2,000 points, more or less.

Artificial benchmarks are crap. If you honestly think the 8350 is faster then the I5 you might need to get your self a helmet.

OP if you can afford it grab the 3570k its faster then the 8350 when it comes to games. If your rendering is going to make you money get the I7 as time is money. However if its just a hobby thing get the I5.

I was hoping Samsung would ditch the capacitive buttons but unfortunately not.
That one thing will keep me from buying a phone its either actually hard buttons like the Droid X or on screen buttons like the Galaxy Nexus.

This same thing keeps me from being excited or the HTC One that and HTC record of crap Android phones.

Only phone I am looking forward too at all is the Motorola X maybe I will finally find a phone that feels like a true upgrade from my Droid X rather then a sorta side grade like my Galaxy Nexus.

posted a message on What tablet builders should do
    Quote from Malachipclover

Here's what I think smart tablet builders would do. One OS should be created that will work with any device form factor.

OK, sure, but isn't that was M$ did with Win8? Yes, but here's where they went wrong: they created 2 completely separate interfaces. We need a single interface that is designed from the ground up to support many form factors with relative ease.

Android clearly understands this concept, as we have devices with little tiny 320×240 screens, all the way up to the Nexus 10's 2560×1600 screen, and then everything imaginable in between.

Also, it should be Linux based and remain open source. There will be no such thing as rooting or jail breaking, because it will be such an open, customizable platform that there will simply be no need.

Now, for hardware. They should have a similar concept to consoles: sell the hardware at a loss, rake in the dough via the games (or apps and media too, in this case).

Why? I'll tell you why. I'm about to say something really radical, and it may be downright insane, but bear with me. I think tablets should have 2 processors, one ARM based or other similar architecture, and then a full x86 processor, and also a high end GPU. When the device is on battery power, it will disable the GPU, and only use the ARM processor. When plugged in, or on special request by the user, only then do the desktop parts kick in. It would make for the convenience of a tablet, but the power of a PC. What do you guys think?

The same UI will never work for all form factors as some form factors need different UIs. I would hate using Android with a mouse and keyboard and I am sure Windows 7 would be a pain with a small touch screen.

Android has rooting because running under a root account 24/7 is not good for security reasons. Rooting is only needed by a handful of people and they know how to root so problem solved.

As FM covered they would have no way to make money from this.

This is stupid for the reasons Fm went over ARM + X86 you just can't switch to.

But AMD has worked out a solution to allow a boost in performance when the tablet is in a more desktop form factor.

Another demo of the tablet the second one.

Isn't it something like 60% faster than the 4000? And the 4000 is 60% faster than the 3000, so they seem to be making quick progress in the realm of integrated cards.

The 4000 runs Minecraft perfectly at high settings on my Macbook, so... These new cards will be pretty damn good...

Damn good if you never compare them to the competition at all.

posted a message on Thoughts on Intel's new Haswell architecture?
Haswell is not going to open a new market its only going to be pushing into an established market that Intel has no hold in. AMD has been holding this market for a while and Intel simply can't compete with AMD. Ivybridge only barley caught up with AMD Llano I don't know how Intel plans on competing with Kaveri. Plus in the low power segment AMD has Temash and Kabini with the new Jaguar CPU arch that's faster per clock and per watt then IvyBridge.

The only exciting thing in Haswell is going to be TSX.

posted a message on USB 2.0 and 3.0?
    Quote from Redstone PrO

I have a cheap USB 3 stick and there is no difference between USB 2 and 3 ports, if the controller onthe stick is slower than USB 2.0, then there is no difference in the real world, while they might be theoretically faster in a 3.0 port.

Even in the event the drive can't read enough to flood a USB2 port you will still see an advantage going to full duplex.

because no usb flash drives are anywhere near fast enough to use usb 3 to its potential. They don't exceed 100mb/s in a best case scenario, with a decent quality drive.

Even a slow USB drive would see a boost from USB3. USB2 is only half duplex USB3 is full duplex.

posted a message on Nvidia graphics card discussion
    Quote from teckmaster

Yeah I have had multiple amd and multiple nvidia cards over the years, probably 60% nvidia, 40% ati. I say ati because most of the time it was an ati card not an amd card.

Not trying to start a brand war, but who has better drivers, nvidia or amd?

I like the nvidia drivers because they have more advanced options, the nvidia drivers have always been nice. But, the amd driver updates give very good performance increases and generally do a good job.

I buy both too fanboism is stupid.

The whole driver thing is far more complex then hands done one is better.

AMD drivers are closer to the OpenGL spec. However Nvidia and AMDs workstation drivers follow the spec much closer but AMD is still on top there.

Both AMD and Nvidia often make great improvements over a generation of cards with a new arch. Nvidia has not been doing as massive changes to their arch like AMD has the past few updates is why Nvidia does not appear to be getting massive updates.

AMD you also get MLAA I use it with several games so I can turn the AA down and still have it look nice or if the game lacks AA at all.

The vast majority of people are on 7, so I would assume it isn't really an issue then.

Like I said its still an issue but just much less of one.
    AMD is fixing it anyway.
