I'm selling a part of my vCloud from GNAX, I was evaluating their cloud, and It is of no use to me anymore as it The CPU wasn't quite powerful enough for what I needed it for, I've currently got it until about 12/28/2011 - 12/23/2011, In it's allocation pool there is: 3.5Ghz of processing power, 5.XGB of ram, 80GB of HDD space but I currently use only 4GB of Ram, as I had issues when i used 5GB. I'll reinstall the OS you want, send you all of the connection details, and If needed I can help to configure your server. So I'm selling it for $20. *Please note you won't get access to the vCloud management console as it contains my information.
I've been hosting my Minecraft Server on my network for about 8 Months, and I've had no issues with the ISP, even though on peak hours I send/recieve 300MB/Hour so about 1.5GB/day, and no.. your ISP should not kick you because of this, however they may limit your speed (slow down) but that typically can be justified by calling them and letting them know.

So pretty much, I run a server on my MacBook, which has about 60GB of space, and not much ram. It runs fine for me and my three friends who play on it, but of course there is a little lag here and there. Anyway, I tried to run it from my PC with 175GB of space and a few G's of ram (just made a new server folder and added the world we use), and it lags way more than from my MacBook. I start out by falling into an abyss for ten seconds, then I spawn and half the world is gone, then the world generates, but I can't break blocks, place blocks, use items, or anything. What is happening? :blink.gif:
P.S. I am not very good at the whole giving people my specs thing, if I need to do that.
Thanks!
- Phizy
Maybe it's the RPM or in other words how fast your hard disk is, for some reason I had the same problem, my IBM eServer xSeries 345 with 2GB Ram and a 10K hard drive with 37.5GB has tremendous lag, it will load minecraft
take 30seconds to generate 3% of the map and when you login you fall and it crashes. But my P4 server with 512MB Ram and the 40GB Hard drive works fine. (both of them run Linux).
Maybe try running all of the MC files off of a flash drive?
I'm not entirely certain what commands McMyAdmin has that you are talking about, but if you have a certain feature that you think would be useful to add, let me know. This script does perform some log processing: looking for users logging on, logging off, or trying to execute a command, and in the case of severe server events, the script can be configured to automatically restart the server.
The only two user commands that the script recognizes at this point in time are /help and /motd, but that list could easily be expanded. If you are thinking of admin level commands, I could have the script parse ops.txt for a rudimentary permissions system without too many problems.
McMyAdmin has the following commands (that I know of for sure):
memory - Not quite sure what exact command is but it tells memory usage of server and stuff
Things I think should be implemented:
mapsize - Total Size of Map
restart (param) - Restart either whole server or the MC Software
rank (param) - Set user to a rank (permissions for give and only give or something like that.
map (param) - Delete Currentmap And Generate new or Backup and Generate New
maxp (param) - changes Max Players
settings (param) (value) - set the parameter in server.properties to a value
(maybe some sort of currency?)
I know this is an unrealistic list, but I think it would be cool to use.
I gotta tell you, this is a very awesome program, I was gonna make something like it, but then I saw this thread and I see it accomplishes more than I want to do with mine :tongue.gif:. BTW: It is somewhat easy to make this have commands similar to MCMYADMIN if it parses the files, havent' checked if it does, or not.
Notch: Please note that this change only affects people who buy the game after December 20, so if you got the game for during alpha, you will still get all future updates for free, despite this change. A promise is a promise.
Buying the game during beta will include all updates up until release, of course, and bug patches will be free.
You just said that you do get updates... And the Minecraft Updater automatically updates you.
Does his computer have what it takes? This is what he says...
"My Netbook:
OS: Windows 7
Model: Toshiba NB305
Processor: Intel Atom CPU N450 @ 1.66GHz, 1667Mhz. 1 core, 2 logical processors.
Graphics Engine: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150
Graphics Memory: 0MB-384MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory.
Memory: 1GB DDR2 667MHz memory.
Hard Drive: 160GB HDD (5400rpm)
(If there are any more specs needed for analysis, please let me know).
So, Minecraft-ready, or not? "
Yes, I have ran a minecraft server on a 512MB Ram P4, I just recommend storing minecraft files on a flash drive.
