Can't be sure, bud. Pahimar is busy trying to finish this, maybe work on Solstice too, not to mention his real job and of course, can't forget the upcoming #PahiPrincess.
All I can say is to be patient with him. He's working himself really hard to try and complete this mod since its been in the works for quite some time. I'm just hoping that someone as talented as he is will pick up the mod once he's done with what he wanted to do with it, as he'll be leaving the modding world afterward.

And yes, be patient with pahimar. He's busy working on the API and getting items functional before focusing on survival support (because what's the point of being able to craft items if they insta-crash).

Yes, it works-people are just downloading the mod from the front page (which contains 1.6.4) instead of from pahimar's new build site (http://ee3.pahimar.com). Some things work in Creative in 1.7, not sure if it's viable yet in Survival.
It isn't. I gave it a test to see if I could turn a diamond into minium dust in the calcinator... DO NOT DO THIS. It produced a ticking entity error that made it impossible to log back into the world (I had to replace with a backup.)
Unfortunately it seems like you downloaded a build where pahimar was refactoring everything in order to make the API, which might have caused some side effects :/.
There's already a newer build that renders your stacktrace useless (more refactoring) :P.

i hate how the mod author won't release the EE2 source code so it can be updated to a more recent version... i get that EE2 is REALLY OP and game breaking, but minecraft is a SANDBOX GAME! we should be able to choose how we want to play it! if we want to infinitely create diamonds or have unbreakable tools, that's our choice! EE3 is, in my opinion, a horrible "update" to a once great mod... i get that it's still a WIP and could be possibly better than EE2 once finished, but as of right now, it sucks.. at least add back dark matter armor/tools..
I understand your point of view, but please...at least wait until the mod is finished until you complain (I do see that you mentioned it *is* WIP, which is nice-most people don't bother to notice that). It is entirely up to the mod author whether or not they want to release the source code. x3n0ph0b3, the creator of EE2, doesn't want it open-source. Done. If you really, really, really like EE2, it is always possible to go back to 1.2.5...

So, when was the last time Pahimar updated this forum? Just a question cuz I've been rewatching some of Direwolf20s old FTB videos where EE2 was such a huge part, and I really want a final version, but I don't want to rush Pahimar, so I'd like an update. Many good! Much excite!

A lot of other stuff hasn't been updated though, like installation instructions, the changelog, etc.
EE3 still has a long way to go before becoming functional (a few "basic" recipes were just added back a few days ago, but you can't actually access anything usable), so be a bit patient :P.
Also, liking how the forums beta turned out, but where's the "Go to last unread post" button?
I feel like the transmutation tablet was the highlight of this mod and kind of miss it, also, too many mods are too late-game and the ones that aren't are overpowered. i have made an early-game mod similar to this mod but not overpowered if you guys want to check it out: http://www.minecraft...ck-alchemy-mod/

There's also other alchemical fuel recipes, but those are only converting recipes (eg alchemical fuel<-->alchemical fuel block). What does this mean? EE3 is still not functional, since Aludel/Calcinator rely on Alchemical Fuel (I think).
Oh. Still, kinda frustrating, since the recipes are all there and work fine in the 1.6.4 version. Did the methods for handling recipes change that much between the two versions or something?

Purple/white: Dark matter (2 variants-pahimar's trying to decide which one to keep)
Green: Essentia matter

I agree with MoridinIshmael here. This is EE3's thread, not a thread for people to ask for EE2.

There's also a lot of work on the Aludel, including the addition of Aludel "smelting" recipes.
