Buttons are the easiest about this, making it flush on a wall, not so much. I'll make something, then I'll give you my psn and let you hop on to see it, so you don't waste x amount of mins on a video that isn't what you wanted

I appreciate the offer, but I don't do any sort of multiplayer, getting on other people worlds, or them on mine. I'm odd that way...

When you say making it flush isn't easy... I don't mean the button to be flush, but the 2x2 doors themselves. Just a regular 2x2 hidden door, using buttons instead of levers, and compact. I already have a working 2x2 hidden door, but the redstone circuit is large, and it uses levers. The issue with levers is if I close the doors using the lever on the inside, I cannot re-open it using the lever on the outside. This is why I want to use buttons. And I'd like to not have to dig up half a moiuntain in order to wire it together.

Tutorial: place redstone that leads to where you want the button.

You just want to be looking up the basics of redstone by the sounds of it. Experiment with it could help too.

You'd be incorrect if that's the assumption you're making.

I'm not sure what you mean by how I want the door to look? Flush in a wall that leads to a room behind it, activated by a button that is inside as well as another button outside the door, but not placed right next to the door, maybe 10 15 blocks away (for the outside button, the inside button can be close). Preferably, the outside button wouldn't be on the same wall as the door altogether...

Just another "make the game easier" request that doesn't actually return any gameplay in its own right. Stuff like this actually drains player creativity by disengaging them from designing their own solutions. You can build compact/tidy circuits with regular redstone.
    No support.

I completely disagree with your assessment, and support this idea whole heartily. You cannot build compact/tidy designs with the current implementation of redstone, and it certainly does not encourage creativity. People will try to create a complex circuit and give up because of the space required to create it, as well as the work arounds necessary because of the way redstone connects. If "wiring" was indeed handled better, we'd have much more creative contraptions because it wouldn't be limited to those who don't mind creating a skyscraper sized redstone contraption. By implementing a better approach to redstone and wiring, more people would be doing it and not just the experts, thus increasing creativity. Unless of course you only want a select few to be able to wire something up? Why wouldn't you want to make it more accessible so more people come up with ideas?

One of the things I dislike about redstone is how simple things just needs so much space to be built. I've been trying to create a simple 2x2 hidden door, but in as compact a manner as I can. I've been looking for tutorials, but every single tutorial never takes it far enough. They build a basic frame for the door and redstone, and always put the lever on top as a direct input. This really kind of defeats the purpose of a "hidden" door if the lever is right there on the wall where the door is hidden. Plus, everyone uses levers, which suck for doors because they're always on or always off. If I shut a door with a lever from the inside, it cannot be opened again from the outside.

So I'm looking for a tutorial that shows a compact (if possible) redstone design, that works with buttons from either the inside or the outside, and the input isn't right there on top of the structure. A button that might be placed 10-15 blocks away from the main "hidden" door.

Can anyone help out with this request?

Except there are no redstone blocks available until the NA update hits... But regardless, I could also have put a redstone torch under the block where the powered rail was, but I'm fine with the torch replacing a single glass block every 20 or 30 blocks... I had thought they'd have to be closer, but I did some additional reading on powered rails, and realized I really don't need that many close together... every 20 or 30 blocks isn't so bad... (I think)

Fully or partially powered won't make much of a difference other than use of resources and time to build. Your minecart will still bounce back when bumping animals so you're better off building it in an underground tunnel to prevent that from happening.

I've built it on a roadway three wide (cobblestone), with the track in the middle, and glass on the sides (3 high) and the top... Basically a glass tunnel, 2 high for the entire duration of the track. As I lay tracks, and I need a redstone torch I'll break out the bottom glass black as needed...

posted a message on Minecart Rails - Using all powered rails
For the record, I am building a railway (via Creative) from my small starting base to a series of cliffs three full maps to the North. It's a lot of track, and dropping one type of rail is easier and faster than laying down the intermixed rails. This is why I asked my question. I do not plan on any stopping points between the two, it's a straight ride from point A to Point B, with a few slopes (up & down) here and there... But it looks like I might be better off laying regular tracks all along the path, then walking back over it afterwards to swap in a powered track and redstone torch as needed...

Other than the resources involved in building powered rails over regular plain rails, is there any real disadvantage to building a railway system using nothing but powered rails? It's sure a whole lot easier laying down a track of a single kind of rail versus 8 or 9 of one type, then 1 or 2 of another type, then back to 8 or 9 of one type, then 1 or 2 of another type, etc...

Anyone using this seed found any good places to find Slimes? I'm wanting to make some sticky pistons but haven't run across a single slime yet... My base is around X:-115, Y:71, Z:242...
    [EDIT]
I have spent many, many days & nights (in-game) walking around the swamp biome not too far from my base camp, and not a single slime. I've spent hours upon hours in caves, especially caves with lots of water, and not a single slime... Ugh...

18 68 11 are the coordinates for a hallway in the fortress that is near stairs with nether wart and a blaze spawner. I put a portal here and it brought me to 200 66 121 in the above world. So if you place a portal in the above world at those coordinates it should take you to a good spot in the fortress. Happy Winter Solstice.

Coincidentally, I ended up building my Nether Portal at X:-115, Y:71, Z:242 And spawned inside a massive fortress in the Nether at X:-4, Y:76, Z:21. Fairly close as well to nether wart and a blaze spawner. It was a large stroke of luck, because I truly hate the Nether and did not relish trying to find my way around there.
