You know, this post is definitely something to really think about. It may not be something many people might think too much about, but it is something I am going to think about.

Because, albeit being an entirely different person from who I was a year ago, from someone who could barely get out of the hole he was dug in, to someone who is now building a ladder towards the stars, I still struggle with motivation and finding any of my own work worthy. Because I keep comparing myself to everyone else. See how my work stacks up. Usually it doesn't tend to.

It's still a habit I need to break from, I will admit. But things are getting much better now. And that makes me more than ecstatic. I've learned to celebrate small victories. Y'know, if you are going to take anything from my post away, take a step back, and enjoy the small victories.

As always, I WIP. A few snaps from Leviathan.

    Magenta

    L. Blue

    Yellow - The Web

Name suggestions for the first two areas would be greatly appreciated.

Yellow's block combination is a little glaring. IMO it hurts the eyes.

It's a running joke on the internet. I don't know where it originated from but it's basicly nonsense. The sentence doesn't make any sence.

Don't worry, there are many people who can't english very well and it isn't a problem as long as we can understand you. Even people like gunter were able to publish their maps.

And to add on to those points, anyone has days where they simply can't English, even if they are native English speakers. I can attest to that that statement because those days occasionally happen to me.

@Crazy_Clamp: It is definitely a good idea to continue with that kind of item building, as it makes the player think about their item choices. Do I choose to go for speed and swiftness, and trade off defense, or do I want to be much more defensive and powerful, but be really sluggish?

You guys all live in warm, dry places... huehuehue....

I live out in the ocean.

(Actually, I live in Canada. Where the weather is cold and where we laugh at the united states people for getting completely freaked out over a centimeter of snow.)

So progress on my map is going ultimately uber great. There will be no screenies to show past the brain of my map.

Terrain for all three of my areas is almost complete within the first day. Now that may sound crazy, but these areas are small. But they won't seem small when you are playing it. The real challenge with this map is going to be balancing the map around the player's capabilities with the gimmicks presented.

That will be the end of my first day of this map, and I will leave you with a mini-checklist I made for myself for day two:

    -Finish off terrain

    -Finish off first transition area

    -Start making loot/traps/mobs

All I will present you with is the name of the new series and the name of the map:

Recovery #01 - Look For The Light

Edit: Woo 800 posts on the MCF! :D

So, I just have a small update on the current workings of my map.

I managed to, while unaware, open my map in 1.8. I work on it in 1.7. This has caused a bit of a setback because Mojang removed Item IDs with 1.8, as well as reworked several pieces of code. This means that through the switch, I lose all the items in the chests in the chunks that got affected when I loaded them up with 1.8, as well as pretty much borking any edited tile entity. This results with me having to redo most of the loot I did, and fix any tile entities that got corrupted through the version switch.

To be honest, I almost lost myself completely. Just about gave up on the map. Deleted it, forgotten about it. But I managed to turn it around in my head, from: "You've lost all the loot in your map, you're finished with mapmaking." to "Hey, look at this as a new opportunity to rebalance your loot, and try a second time to do your loot, and see if you can do it better." And yes, I will have to reformat some signs, some spawners, excetera, but this was only a small setback that I blew up in my mind to unreasonable proportions.

So, yes, I will have to redo some of my loot, but I was lucky that my spawn area was not affected too bad, which is the only place I have command blocks in the map, as well as only a few out of the many signs were affected. I was even more lucky for the fact that my intro area still had all the items I placed down, which was the only place I really had did extensive loot placing. And the reason I was so lucky was because I never got to I1, I was in I2, and I may have stepped into the connection in between my I1 and my I2, through my orange wool, so I never loaded up the chunks of the starting area/most of the spawn. But even through that, I will restart the loot.

It may be a minor setback, but it is definitely an eye opener, and I am lucky that I only have been doing simple work on my map, and not doing extensive loot, custom mobs, and crazy command blocking.

Why hello to all. I have been hard at work in the recent few days reworking the underground dungeon in my white wool. And I will have to say I am very happy with the end result:

Now, along with all of that, I have almost pretty much completely balanced the first intersection. My orange wool still needs a bit of a difficulty ramp. But either than that plus finishing off the loot, I will be pretty much complete with my first intersection. Which makes me really happy.
