Sorry guys, I've been busy. I haven't really gotten a chance to work on the new version of the map since I finished terraforming, but I DID do the hut models (I'm planning on creating object layer to spawn a lot of huts without having to do it with MCedit ;) ). Galidorguy, go ahead and post a link to any schematics of block structures you create, and I will see if I can use them. My new version of the map, if I didn't already mention, is even bigger than the old version. It's gonna be EPIC.

ok, I can create the inital flat landscape if you wish for the 1:1 scale of mata nui. it will take 7 hours for me, but wont kill/overload my computer. can you also tell me on how to do some of the things i need to do?(like turn off caves, trees, ect.) im going to use a flat landscape, how does a land level of 52 and the default water level sound.

Okay, so feel free to make your own map; I feel that it is impractical to do the 1:1 scale thing, but that's your choice. Honestly, I think the default water level (62) is perfectly fine. As for stuff like caves, just youtube it or wiki it or something. By the way I've finished the terra-forming now; now on to the fun stuff ;) .

actually i downloaded the program, and the thing is, it's trying to generate everything.(cave systems, lava pits ect.) ask arround if there is a way to make a new world simaler to the ocean flat world generator in world painter, I did the exact same thing and since the app is runs with java it dosn't handle data processing very good. just in case look for another world creator, and do the fine tuning with world paint.

Yeah, worldpainter can be a pain at first, but I have been using it quite a while now, and I have figured out how to get around things like the automatic generation of caves. In fact, I recently discovered how to do custom caves and caverns at a certain level, so that's probably what I'll do for Onu-Koro (instead of MCedit) and for the underground highways. It'll be legit. ;)

hey before you get started, i want to give you some references for the island. i have a link to the offical map and the sise of the map.
since the island is489.09km x 243.86km which means the amount the aria of blocks will be 489090 blocks x 243860 blocks. also the map of mata nui
    http://biosector01.c.../a/aa/Map-1.jpg

Actually, I already have that map in my posession, as it were. And I do know about the dimension stuff, but sadly the size is not possible to replicate (not enough memory) :( . This can be a good thing though, for, as you can probably see, too big isn't always convenient for practical purposes such as getting around. Speaking of which, I think I'll add a teleport system for fast travel to the various main locations :) .

sorry, i would have replied sooner, to let you know out of all the downloaded maps i have, i keep playing yours every time. if you wish i can be your play tester.(look for bugs, recomendations, ect.) now just to let you know after playing a bit, i don't know if it's just me, but ga-koro is starting to fill with ice. I looked into the debug screen (F3) and apperently all your ocean is labled something like frozen river. also one of ta-koro's walls isn't shaded properly,(aka blacked out.) so thats my update. also here are some links to the software and the math behind the leaf block, actually scratch that, thats only for natural leaft blocks! but you may need to build it by hand.

    binvox and veiwvox:
    http://www.patrickmin.com/minecraft/

leaf block calculations(from the minecraft wiki)
Leaves from trees spontaneously decay (disappear) randomly when not connected to a wood (log) block by other leaf blocks, with a maximum distance of 4 blocks. Decaying leaves will drop saplings and apples at the same rate as directly destroyed blocks. The supporting wood block need not be of the same tree type.
Player-placed leaf blocks will never decay and can be used in construction such as tree houses and hedges.

Okay so I have almost completed re-terraforming Mata Nui (I'm starting from scratch again). About the ice in Ga-Koro I'm not sure what the issue is, but I'll try to make sure it ends. The wall in Ta-Koro, again I'm not sure, but it may be your computer/Minecraft; I know sometimes things are blacked out for me. In this original map I made, Ta-Koro is big enough that it is prone to blitting (drawing things onscreen) glitches. I'll probably try the leaf idea in Ga-Koro--what kind of block do you think I should use? Also, you may have notice that Naho bay (and in fact the rest of the ocean) is deep down to bedrock, and error which I am mending. This way I don't have the akward raised ground for Ga-Koro. Oh, and my new version is probably quite a bit bigger. So get ready for some fun.

P.S. I don't know if you knew this, but I obviously didn't when I made the first map version, but Ta-Koro is actually supposed to be in a lava lake near the shore of Mata Nui; not in the volcano. The Tren Krom break is a lava river running from the volcano to the lake. I will add this stuff in the next version. And in my next version I will use custom trees (for the jungle and dead forest and anywhere else.

This is epic, and the best Mata-Nui island i played on to date. it feels vast, the vilages look great and adding the Kinis was a great touch. (I can't find any other Mata Nui map that has those.) I would recomend posting this on plannet minecraft, it should get more noticed this way. If you want me to I can help make some edits. I can post pictures of my edits and see how you like them.

    List of Recomendations:

1:Charred Forest(You said your working on that, to make it interesting place it arround the Ta-Kini.)
2:The Gali Waterfall Mask. (I know some software that can help that out if you find a 3d model of Gali's mask. Look up converting 3d models for minecraft which Leads to programs Binvox and Veiwbox, but the apps use text based input.)
3:Ga-Koro with leaf blocks. It is posable, but hard to pull off. look on the minecraft wiki to figure out the math.
4: the barrier arround Ga-Koro: this exsplaines itself.
5: Bohrok room: I noticed after Makuta's main Laier there was a second room leading outside. since the bohrok aria was a sphere, just look up voxel sphere generator.

so those are my recomendations, hope these tools help makeing this map better.

Ya so I hadn't done any work for a while (like, at all) but I now see I have at least one supporter. I will look into planet minecraft. As for additions, I plan to add all the things you mentioned, and now I know better how to use worldpainter (the program I used for terraforming) so I plan to make way more realistic mountains, more exciting tunnels, and Onu-Koro will look more like a cave. As for the Gali Waterfall mask, I'll probably try doing it by hand--go ahead post whatever 3d software stuff you mentioned and can look at that too. You might've noticed the ocean floor is pretty deep (too deep) so once I make that better making the fence around ga-koro will be much easier. As for constructing the lilypads with leaves, I'll need to make sure they won't decay (I can find ways to get around it if they do) so yeah. Expect an update in about a month.
TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT THE MAP.

    P.S.
I am almost halfway done terraforming a middle-earth map for those interested--the level of detail is so great there will be no village you find missing in the shire, things will look like they were described in the books, etc... AKA greater detail than even LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online).

    THE ISLAND MATA NUI

SCREENSHOTS: (sorry I couldn't figure out a good way to upload them)
    http://minecraftscreens.weebly.com/

This map took me at least three weeks to make (for terraforming I used worldpainter) and I still have yet to add

a couple of things (the dead forest in Ta-Koro). It has all six villages, suvas, kinis, and five different main

underground highways. It also has Makutas lair. The little stone head that's supposedly on the beach (the one

that leads to Makuta's lair) is moved back a bit, more in Ga-Wahi. Have fun exploring the map, if you want to

make an adventure map with it, just ask for permission and give credit to me. If you make a video of the map

then post a link on this topic. I included all the screenshots I took in the zip file that you download.

NOTICE: JUST REMOVED MAP. THE 2.0 VERSION IS CURRENTLY UPLOADING! I will post a link to the new version's page when it is ready.
