Sep 26, 2011Well to me redstone is great, has LOADS of potenctions and has the ability to keep amazining us. now it's not that i don't use them, it's just that there is not enought uses. i find myself mining around because i my head i just say: well my inventory is small, i have 2 chest worth of redstone and i'm doing absolutly nothing with it so, chuck it out. i rather use my space up on coal! now when it gets to that you need to change something up.i think there are many ideas that may help us out.Posted in: Suggestions
my first idea is simple
you will have more then enought space like these. with every 9 64 slots you have, you have 1! All you guys at Monjag have to do is make it craftable and for the design just rip off either the lapiz lupzi block or a normal iron block but recolored in red.
now the rest of my ideas are a little differnt and mostly just for fun. these arent needed but will be nice and add some more uses to the stone because people who don't do circuits get fill with this stuff and don't use it. so here are some ideas.
You will now have the ability to make a redstone sword. now i know this is highly unlikly, and might be crazy overpowered but it might be cool. with the redstone sword you are now able to hit a mob like normal but when you crit (which is really likly, you should tone it down for this sword) you will shock your enemy and throw him flying like if you sprint hitted him. the sword will have a base damage of 2, like a wood sword but when it crits, 5 hp and it will sent the mob fling and on top of that shocked 2-5 seconds (will take .5 HP per second(s)). now this make this sword EXTREMLY overpowered, so let make it so it's only used at dangerouse situations. it will be exatly 75 uses, it take 2 uses everytime it crits. now i know with swords there is already a Mouse 2 function but this one is special. It will take 2 uses (much like the crit) but instead it will electify the enemy on your crosshair. it will be only a 2 second electificaton, extremly useless but it can be helpful when your fighting a long range like target. it does have a 15 block limit but it can travel thought trasperent blocks such as glass, fence, stairs, water, ect.
Aww yes, cliche everyone is talking about. well i do intend to switch it up a bit thought. it will be very much useless, but it's armor. it'll last the amount chainmail armor would but it has catches. when wairing full armor, you will change all redstone cirtuits on if they are off or off if they are on. but you will lose your armor if you hit water or lava. it'll just wash away and turn to dust. also redstone armor has the ability to charge, seeing as you cant have (underwater) breath bubbles it will replace that part of your HUD and turn into little lightning bolts. you can charge it by staning on a presure plate surrounded by redstone (only on the 4 sides, not the corners) and having repeaters on the end of each dust trail (only has to be 1 dust long, more is optional, limit is 3) and then standing as it charges. it take 1 second per .5 thunder bolt to rise. when your suit is charged you can have:
-limited flying (until it ends, so i suggest being close to the ground)
-high crit chances (would change to more like a 75% chance)
-Faster sprint (which would add to the sprint jump just .5 block lenght)
-no falling damage (when falling you will have the redstone ore effect and be falling a lower speed)
-and finally no hunger consuption rate (consumed food will be reset to a full block so no .5, and in such situation will decrease rather then increase)
now your electricity can fly away pretty quickly so it'll be best if you bring the stuff you need or set electicity charging fields around your worlds. it will consume .5 for every 5 seconds when not consumed and 1 every second it is consumed. it is considered consumed when: your flying, hitting, sprinting, or falling. this is good in combination with the redstone sword, considering that a charged redstone gear and a sword would make a deadly combination.
Now all this stuff is much too easy to craft, specially with all this damn dust falling from 1 ore and all this stuff is really nifty so making it should be more expensive. now if all these ideas do come to life it would be great to have Ingots. the way redstone ingots are made however maybe a long process. first craft the redstone to a block, then take the blocks and make a checker board pattern, with stone. you will then have a ore that can be smelted to a ingot:
(just imagine the apple is a redstone dust, and a red wool would be the block)

This way these over powered tools are only made when nessesary or when you have enought redstone to waste.
My Last redstone related idea is:
Prob the best idea since adding zombies to the game. flares would work kinda like both a torch and a weapon. a flare can be used by hitting in hand like a sword but instead would light enemies on fire. it is dangerous though, you might burn yourself, ALWAYS BE CARFULL WITH FLARES. it has a extremly limited uses of 10. but it can make a farly useful item when in the middle of a fight. flares can also be put on the ground (once again, 10 burn/uses only) and as soon as an enemy walks into it, they burn up. when an enemy is lite on fire it will last till their death (unless it's a player or if they land on water). it is extemly dangerous to use near anything flamable or next to you as you might lite yourself on fire. it is crafted using redstone as such: (once again apple for Rs dust)
now my last idea has nothing to do with redstone but more with the space problem:
It's probably the life saver of every adventurer! it'll be made of leather and will add 18 additionally inventory spaces. you inventory will work with a scrolling bar like a webpage, you are only allowed to amplify your bag space 4 times (thats 72 slots, 3 times more then your regular 36 slots!) althought this sound a bit redundent you can make it so it's more balenced notch. when you start out, all your inventory could be the 9 bars you have at the start, then after you get your first bag (if you do this, make the bag limmit 6) you will get your first 18 slots. making you EARN your inventory space. all existing minecrafts will just already have these first 2 bags added and their limit will be 4. it would be crafted like so:

I’ve stopped developing this mod for 2 reasons:
1 - I'm done with Minecraft, having played it since alpha 1.1.2_01. I've experienced everything this game has to offer. Since Minecraft was released (end of beta) it has become way too diluted for its simple outset. Almost everything that has been released since is just content and no new gameplay experiences. Every time I play I get irritated by the amount of lost potential and it makes me want to create a complete overhaul mod, though I simply don’t see that happening.
2 - The community. The immature, the trolls, the griefers, etc. This community is full of them and they’re ruining it for the rest of us. Now I get it, I like to let loose and have a laugh every once in a while myself. But the amount of stupidity on display is just cringe worthy. The signal to noise ratio is too low and finding good quality content is difficult.
Is this the end for Advanced Hud?
Update: Maxpowa is now developing the mod.
No. As of this post Advanced Hud is public domain, meaning it’s yours to do with as you wish. I won’t release the source though, as I’d rather have someone experienced working on the mod. Also my code shouldn’t be used as training material as it contains a ton of bad habits. Hurry up though, as I’ll be taking the downloads offline next month (June 30th)

DO NOT ASK FOR UPDATES! It is against the rules. I am working on the update. I don't know when it's done. Advanced Hud will let you personalize your heads-up display. It is a mod that is entirely focused on esthetics and customizability while not adding or changing any game mechanics. Every hud item has its own menu with it's own set of parameters allowing you to set each hud item as you see fit. One of the key features of the mod is that you can reposition the hud items to anywhere on the screen. On top of that Advanced Hud adds 3 new hud items: a lightmeter, a minimap (beta) and a death counter (for livestreaming, etc) and it is ever expanding with new features being added every update. The writer of this page just blatantly copied the description from the advanced hud topic and was to lazy to even read what it said. Shame on him.
To use the mod press H (default) to open the HUD menu

Q1: Your mod does not work on my computer, it crashes the game or it won't show the settings menu.
A: Please check how to install the mod again (and use multiMC this time, no really).
Try removing other mods that change stuff to the hud.
Report the crash (with log) or incompatibility (also check the notes in the incompatibilities section) in this topic.

Q2: Is it possible to mod the hud from mod X/Y
A: No, the way java works and (to my knowledge) the lack of a decent hud api means that adding hud items from other mods is a lot of effort for little reward.
Q3: Can you make the inventory screen movable
A: No, this mod is strictly HUD only. Making the inventory screen movable will add a lot of incompatibilities.
Q4: Can I add your mod to my modpack?
A: I do not allow my mod in modpacks, because modpacks take time update all the mods in them. This will create a backlog where people will ask about problems in old versions, while those versions are no longer supported. And I'm not willing to waste my time fixing problems with older versions of the mod or having to take another step asking people what version of the mod they have. EDIT: No means no, asking your users not to ask for help with older versions is not how the internet works. Could you please stop messaging me.
Q5: Does your mod work in multiplayer?
A: Everything that is changed is pure client side, so yes.
Advanced Hud 4.8.1 for Minecraft 1.4.7- Added the item tooltips hud item. I've applied my own coding to this one, so it's not the exact same as Mojang's; It won't appear every time the item takes damage and it will use the item's rarity color.
- Added a scroll bar to the settings menu as the mod now has 16 hud items which can't fit in a 3 * 5 grid anymore.

I strongly recommend you use multiMC for installing mods
- Install modloader or forge (forge 3.3.7 and up)
- place the advancedHUD zip file in the mods folder (make the folder if it's not there).

- Thinking about stopping development of the mod since October 2012, but still updating it.
- Taking a break the last month so I can be absolutely sure about this decision.
- Making the mod public domain, so it's development can be continued by someone else.
There's your passion.
Or is it the adfly that's bothering you? I suggest you try and learn programming for 5 years so you can make something decent, then spend another 2 years on a project like this.
I should also mention that you're going to see the same amount of passion (or, as you put it, the lack thereof) from the next guy in line.

1) Don't troll
2) Don't post at all at this thread they just download the mod.
3) Don't have a minecraft forums account at all.
I said I don't like Minecraft's community in general, it's not (most of) the people in this topic. It's what I see on the rest of this forum, Reddit, PlanetMinecraft, FeedTheBeast, Tekkit, etc, etc.
Why do you take them so seriously? and Why don't you imagine that there are tons of people who support by downloading the mod?
AntVenom showcased this mod once which means he likes it, but also there were tons of positive comments about this mod there.
I'm not saying I don't know of their existence. They are the signal. But there are for example a lot of people that don't realize how much time and effort a mod takes and just blatantly ask for an update. Again, signal to noise.
The way I see it. This will open up opportunities for other people to experiment with the concept of the mod and bring their ideas to the table.

What if there was another world, also procedurally generated, but with randomly created buildings, corridors, streets, bridges, towers, stairways, and canals? A world of man made structures rather than natural terrain. But one where the random generator can create all kinds of mind boggling things that no human would have the time to create.
What would Mazeworld (just a placeholder name, don't stress if you dislike it) look like?
Take 1 parts Jim Henson's Labyrinth.
Add 1 parts MC Escher sketch.
Add 1 part Mines of Moria.
Add 1 parts .
Imagine an infinite labyrinth of high stone and cobblestone walls. Passages fork, twist, and rejoin endlessly. Sometimes terrain is flat, sometimes mountainous. Passages can rise up the side of hills, or become tunnels and go straight into a mountain.
Massive towers and castles rise from plazas here and there, themselves honeycombed with stairs and hallways, and connected to other towers by massive bridges and sky-highways. The height can vary, ranging from small buildings to structures that reach the highest altitude.
The underground is porous. Stairways lead down into a infinite world of neatly chiseled tunnels, great halls, and bridged chasms.
Mazeworld would also be dangerous, for those of us who enjoy a thrill. The map would not come with any torches...meaning that all those buildings, those underground tunnels, are in perpetual darkness. Spawning monsters until you light the place up. Would these be the same creatures as you find on Earth? Maybe, but perhaps Mazeworld could have its own unique mobs instead.
Who built Mazeworld? And why? That's not really important. Perhaps the dead gods of a forgotten people. Perhaps it was always there and nobody built it, a dimension representing both order and chaos.
How would you get to Mazeworld? A portal of some kind probably. I don't think I need to randomly pick some material to make it out of since that's not really crucial to the core of this suggestion. It should probably be a little challenging to make though.
Why would you go to Mazeworld? What's in it for the player? Mostly the thrill of exploration. Finding amazing random structures no human could design. Battling hordes of creatures and turning their magnificent lairs into your safehouses. Modifying these random structures with your own edits and additions. But perhaps there could also be treasure chests here and there, waiting to be found, for people that can't be motivated to do anything without a straightforward prize.
Basically, I like this idea because it would take the splendor of the random generator in minecraft and extend it to artificial structures.

*Treasure chests hidden throughout world
*Focus on golem/construct/animated object mobs, few or no living creatures
*Perhaps some ghosts/intangible undead
*Different biomes containing different architecture and city functions. Library biome, castle biome, garden biome, market biome, etc.
*Aqueduct/canal system to allow boat travel.
*Occasional redstone machinery generates with the world.
*New blocks players could collect as building materials.
*Sound activated portal (if technically practical)
*Statue mobs that only move when player isn't looking
*Mobs that are neutral but attack when they witness the player damaging Mazeworld (breaking blocks)
*Minotaur (perhaps clockwork?)
*Shadow creatures that won't leave darkness
*Stationary turret like enemies
