Thank christ we don't need to play around with jumper settings with SATA.... "Oh just set the jumpers to slave" Sure, I'll do that. Oh wait, every single hard drive seems to have a different jumper config and they rarely ever tell you what config is what on the label that's on the hard drive.
FFFFFFFFFFFF I HATED THOSE THINGS
ALL OF MY HATE.
Yeah, I'm having to convince my father that master/slave doesn't matter in SATA, but he's convinced that I have to mess with the jumper.
So, for a Christmas present, I got a Phenom II x4, to complete my rig. However, when I turned it on, it started emitting a high-pitched squeeking noise. Immediately, I thought one of the case fans was making it. However, when I unplugged all the case fans, it still made that noise. After a few seconds, the screen came on and said that no signal was being sent to it. I think that the noise is coming from the GPU, but I'm not sure...

Well, Sims isn't naitively supported by Linux, is it? I'm not too sure about video editing programs either, though it may be a nice idea to dual boot it with Windows 7. Mint on my SSD boots up in 21 seconds. :biggrin.gif: (Don't know about windows, but I assume it is a bit slower)
No, but with a 6850, like fm87 recommended, it would run great under WinE.
Also, try CrunchBang Linux. It has a 40 second boot in a virtual machine, on a standard HDD.
Yeah I edited that. I meant to post my low-mid copypasta but I can't find it so I figured I'd leave it there since you can't delete posts. :/
Copied the mid-high copypasta on accident.
Sorry...
However, I haven't looked at the prices of Intel stuff in a while, so when my parts get in, I'll need to replace the mobo and ****.

Pretty much this.
Let's say there were 6 tiers.
Sorry, that is slightly inaccurate, but it gets the idea across.

Alright, thanks for the suggestion. I only need it because my father refuses to let me use Ethernet over powerlines.

No, it isn't seen by the BIOS.
And I was kidding about Best-Buy. I got it from Newegg.

However, looking again, I can't find a place to plug it into. Where on the card is the port?

The R5770 HAWK is $10 cheaper, and isn't it a tad better than, the 6870?
