Using a VM or something isn't really an option for real games.. they give suck performance.
There's a reason Linux isn't for gamers.
Linux would actually be great for gaming; no worse than Windows, at the least. The only reason it sucks to game on Linux ATM is because it has such a small market share, which makes most AAA publishers ignore it's existence. And, siince Adobe has confirmed they're working on a Linux version of the CSX software, I imagine Linux'll be a more popular OS in the future.
That's weird, I tried to install the daul boot version today too. After it didn't start, my dad and I were trying to uninstall it. We went into the command prompt, we ran the installer, nothing worked. I ended up reinstalling Windows. So if you want my opinion: INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK.
WTF? None of that makes any sense. One does not simply uninstall an OS like a program.
Look, OP. Learn the stuff, and you won't end up screwed like this guy.
No.
If you are sure you want to switch to Linux, bearing in mind the lack of hardware/software support, I recommend going with Linux Mint or something else instead. Ubuntu's a bit crappy, IMO.
I'm not sure what he was referring to but I was referring to the Thailand flooding, that article isn't as bad as you make it sound anyway. The article basically says prices won't return to pre-flood levels until 2014 but they should shift a bit between here and then. Plus the extra money will end up giving higher density drives hopefully.
Honestly I'm not sure we need 8 TB drives or something anytime soon, personally I'd rather see the rise of cheap 500 GB SSD's or something, then we could use hard drives more for mass storage and shift the focus of apps and things that need high performance to SSD's.
I don't know, but a cheapish 8 TB HDD would be a blessing for me; the hoarder with a twist.
Umm. Max budget.. I'd say how ever much my current computer (Inspiron N7010) was when I got it. Refurbished it's around $600, but I can't find a price for what it was when I got it last Christmas.
Ok, well any idea what I could do in terms of buying a new computer in the future? Is there a way I could get a laptop that would run Minecraft decently without it costing me an arm and a leg?
How much do you value an arm and a leg? AKA, how much would you be willing to spend, max?

No, unedited footage.
Of games, you pervert.

In that case, the laptop I linked is good.

What exactly is your max budget? That's just a good baseline computer.

Then http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230242 should be good.
Of course, if you'd be fine with a desktop...

So, is $600 too much?

I'd like to keep the cast around 4 people at a time, so if someone's gone, you could.

Aw, that's too bad. You'd actually be one of the few people who know what they're talking about.
Same as above.

Yeah, I'm recorded through the mic directly, and thus don't have the sound-bending powers of Skype when I talk. That's easily fixed.
It's always good to have a few extra members on hold, as we're all out of the house from time to time. Generally we record on Tuesdays, 10:00 PM GMT.
