I'm using Notepad++ with JSTool, but it doesn't seem to highlight errors in my model file. I do have things like "cull":false and //comments. Is there a tool to help me fix these (and also fix miscellaneous mistakes I make)?

posted a message on Would it be possible to make this shader?

SEUS does this fairly well. I'm not sure how it does it (I don't know anything about OpenGL and whatever it uses) but it looks quite good.

The Phosphor shader also does this and you can edit values to blend frames, but it always seems a little bit laggy. I believe this would be because with phosphor it always uses real frames rendered in the past, so the actual image you see is always slightly in the past. I read an article about making the image blurred in both the positive and negative vectors of motion, so the center of each blurred object is where the real object is.

Just asking, if you have a custom image for your model (See WeeHeeHee's super sexy sword model) and it has an animated texture (see his sword) do you need to use traditional minecraft animation format, or can you use a .gif?
trying to convert a 128x128 lightning texture is going to be hard...lol

I used a GIMP plugin that turns layers into a tilesheet and vice versa. I can't figure out the name, but it should be found by googling 'GIMP tilesheet from layers plugin' or similar.

posted a message on MCPatcher and Custom Item Textures

crackshot is the guns plugin that people use for there servers, it's where you retexture items to look like guns and make a .yml so players can use them as guns... but i heard that you can use CIT to make custom item textures so that servers can have guns without people crafting a pickaxe that looks like a gun

It's possible, but will depend on the method used to specify different guns. If they're different items (one is a wood axe, one is a stone sword etc) it's easy with no mods.

i've heard that you can use CIT for crack shot so that you dont have to retexture tools, (apparently people have done this)

    how can i do that?

Sorry, I'm not sure what crack shot is. Does it have something to do with item models? If so, I may be able to help you.

@Syxes If you intend to make your snake an in-game model, be aware that it can't be more than 3m long (a block outside of the normal cube). You could, however, make it an item and increase the 1st/3rd person scale.

"Art." 4x resolution. Yes, it did take like 2 hours to make.

Probably going to call it "no circles just squares"

why i'm probably not going to add very many 3d models (except for cactus etc)

    Leave some feedback.

    Happy new years everybody! :D

Grass definitely needs to be changed. Even if it's just a 1% change in shade, that's better than having all 4 pixels the same.

It seems like there's no active 3D model discussion threads, so I'll bump this one. Here's a GFYCat of my 3D bow.

Not normally possible, but MCPatcher's CIT (not included in Optifine) allows different item textures for different enchantments. You'd just need to make the enchantment glint transparent.

I've heard that alternative texture (connected textures?) take more processing power in minecraft. I do not have a source on me atm, but I could try to find where I heard that if you'd like.

That makes sense. Do you have your custom model bow available for download? I'd totally be down to use it :)

Yep just copy/past the textures/weeheehee/ folder and the bow_etc.json model files from here. http://weeheehee.com/#sheepvp-hd

For item models, I have a theory that custom models will improve your performance, as long as they are handmade not one of those bitsy ones from Cubik. Reason being, the vanilla model generator will end up with 200-300 faces, per item, for a 16x texture. Just using a bow model I made, it has around 40 faces. In a scenario where dozens of people are holding the same item e.g. archer fight, that's a big improvement. This would give tangible benefits just like how changing dropped items from fancy (3D) to fast (2D plane) gives an FPS increase.

As for block models, I'd avoid changing things like cube because then the opposite effects would occur. Lesser used blocks like torches would probably be negligible.

Not that I don't believe you, but source?

Someone could probably find something in the source code/MCP, but in pretty much all games all textures are loaded into RAM first. This means the location on the disk should, in theory, make no difference because it all ends up in the same form.

Go on YouTube, and google SrNova. He makes some pretty good texture packs. Also look up StimpyPvP and ApacheBlitz. They all make some pretty sexy packs.

Those packs are unfortunately invariably stolen from artists like Vattic, and highly frowned upon here.
