I've cleaned out a bunch of useless ores and materials. I figured we didn't really need 15 sets of tools.

Interesting, but why the hell would any sane player want to get slower and decrease their mining speed. Stick with tea and coffee and such for brewed beverages, there's no need for this.

    Go ask the WoW players.

While I like the idea of different water, I think it should be made on a different manner:
A water source block/water bucket would have a scale of temperature and purity. The higher the temperature the brighter it is. On purity, it would start becoming greener and then brown. High temperature would be found on hotter biomes, low would be found on cold. How pure it is would be determined by the biome too, as that swamps would have green level to brown level, rain forest would be the purest. Cold water could freeze you after some time and very hot water could damage you. After some time placed the water would become the biome temperature, unless you added some special block near it. You could purify water by placing it on a furnace, and be able to drink water, getting hurt if the water is so hot or so cold, and having the possibility of becoming poisoned if the water is not very pure.

Not too bad of an idea, but totally different from this. I'm keeping the ideas roughly the way they are and I don;t plan to do an overhaul.

So...Differences between water temperatures is...what? Different recipe possibilities? Doesn't seem terribly useful. Must be missing something.

I just thought it would add some new depth. I mean, non heated water doesn't make healing pools or geysers on its own. You can't very well brew tea or coffee with some water out if a pond.

Beverages have been added! New uses for boiling water are (hopefully) upcoming. Steam may or may not be involved...

Could geysers propel you into the air? If so they're awesome.

Also, could you make an item that makes warm water heal you at a rate of half a heart per ten seconds?

Yes, geysers do propel you. About warm water healing, therapy water already heals at half a heart per 5 seconds.

We already have lava; Water is usually seen as a place for people that are burning to cool down. If people run towards water, only to find warm water they'll kill themselves. This would be fine if it were to make the game harder, but it could be deceptive to new players.

Boiling water is of a much lighter color so it won't decieve players with at least half a brain. I'll add that to the OP.

Most Water found near Lava (Where you would get burned) Would be boiling water, and so you have a "Water Water Everywhere but not a drop to drink" Type of Situation.

And, Geyers and Cuased by Large Lava Caves and Water. Not Just Boiling Water. So The Geyser Idea Does not work.

Well, if you're down in a cave, you'll just have to suck it up. About the geysers, I think I'll have to be more specific.

    Geyser:

    :grass: :Blue: :grass:
    :soil: :soil: :soil:

In which :Blue: is warm or boiling water. This would only happen often in volcanic biomes. Normally, it's very hard to find a single, isolated spring block close enough to lava to get heated. If you mean it's not realistic enough for you, then you might as well get off now because Minecraft is full of plenty thing a LOT less realistic than creepers. I wanted to make the idea simpler. I hope this clears things up

@Count: Sounds good. Consider it added.

@Xazo: That's how it used to be, but I changed it because of people saying it was too dangerous and easy to find. Now that I've made it much less dangerous, I'll re-add the surroundings-altering-temperatures thing. It will work like this: within 2 blocks of lava= boiling, within 5 blocks of lava- warm, within 2 blocks of ice or snow= cold.

    @Frumbert: It's a possibility.
