A_Blind_Moron posted a message on One thing Mojang did right with 1.8This thread is not about the ****-tacular void fog.Posted in: 1.8 Update Discussion
It's not about the completely ****ed over passive mob spawning.
It's not about the new lighting system, which some people seem to dislike with a sickening ferocity.
It's about the new blocks.
Stone bricks? ****IN FANTASTIC. Now you don't have to build castles out of cobblestone. In fact, any stone structure now has more variation than looking like it was hewn out of the ****ing earth like a giant sculpture (smooth stone) or looking like a ten year old glued rocks together (cobblestone). Stone bricks might be better than ye old clay bricks, which, by the way, are now MUCH more common.
Fence gates? AWW YEAAH. No more awkard entrances to that protected area around your house.
Glass panes? Holy ****. You mean you can turn six pieces of glass into SIXTEEN? And on top of that- you can break them and pick them up again? Not to mention they make jizz-tastic windows! And the windows have windowsills now. ****ING. SILLS.
Chests? They aren't new. But, now they look 20% cooler. I, for one, welcome our new animated chest overlords.
IRON BARS? OH LAWDY. TIME TO LOCK MO'****AS IN JAIL. And then build a SWEET-ASS DUNGEON around it!
MELONS? I think I'm bout to faint. I love melons so god damned much. Melons... melons make my life worth living. Round and beautiful... you just wanna grab em- wait. Round? We aren't talking about the same melons, then, are we? Uhm. Well. This is awkward.
THERE ARE NO BRAKES ON THE NEW BLOCKS TRAIN.IF YOU DON'T LIKE HAVING MOAR BLOCKS, AND THUS MORE ROOM TO BE CREATIVE, IT MIGHT BE TIME TO GET YOUR HEAD EXAMINED.
I ain't no architect but I love the **** out of these blocks.

Luckstrong posted a message on Future Updates Sub ForumWe got this thread to be officially popular! Great job!Posted in: Forum Discussion & Info
I would just like to say thank you to Jefe323 for directing users to this thread when they express concern about this issue.
Hello there Minecraft Forums! This is my first suggestion so bare with me!
My suggestion for the forums is to add a sub forum to Beta- Survival Mode, Future Updates. Too many times have I seen a well made thread and discussion be locked and told to discuss it in one thread. (Example: Beta 1.7 Discoveries and Discussion!) While I do agree discussion of speculated and known future updates don't belong in the Beta- Survival Mode section, I don't think the discussions reach their full potential in one mega thread. For example. a player posted a thread talking about the new textures of cobblestone, mossy cobblestone, and bricks. Many players talked about why they liked and disliked the addition- but it was locked and directed to the mega thread. The use of the mega thread really discourages individual opinions and discussions based on a specific topic. The limitation of users to one thread for a wide variety of discussions is both unorganized and inefficient. It's like only dividing books in a library by Non-fiction and Fiction. You would have to search through all the fiction books just to find Lord of the Rings! If a sub forum completely about future updates was created it would allow much more serious discussion and make the jobs of the section moderators easier, as players would post in the sub forum about future updates instead of the main section.
"We already have a thread for discussions like this.
No need for duplicate threads."
A quote from a moderator. The main problem is these threads aren't duplicate! They are far more unique and have more in depth discussion than the mega thread can cover. The mega thread should just be a list of all confirmed/ highly likely but speculated future content to the game. Players should be able to freely discuss their opinions and such more freely and easily in a sub forum.
Edit: I do not mean to cause any friction with any moderator, I understand they are doing their job. I just feel there needs to be a change.
Please post if you agree or disagree with me, and why. Constructive posts are highly appreciated, I want to see both sides of the argument's reasoning, not just yes or no.
New idea: Remember before the Halloween update? We had a sub forum called the Alpha- Minecraft Halloween Update. Perhaps this forum could be named the Beta- Minecraft Adventure Update. It could be used to discuss the future update, as well as the update's features when it first comes out.

Update:Had an administrator take a look at it. I'm currently in discussion with them about what can be done to improve the idea to make it plausible. They have also agreed to pass it on to other staff for further opinions on the subject.
Update: One of the original problems with adding a new section was moderation. That doesn't seem to be a problem though, as they have added a whole section just for the pocket game.
Update: We achieved a 1.8 forum! Now onto a permanent Future Updates Sub Forum! HURRAH!

Update:It seems they're sticking with future update forums, there's a 1.9 one now! -

Equeon posted a message on Endermen are Underpowered!I realize I made a similar topic recently, but this one is focused on only the Enderman and why it's failed to deliver as the mob Notch promised it to be. Here's what we knew up until a little before the PAX preview:Posted in: 1.8 Update Discussion
-> It's a rare monster that spawns in darkness.
-> It picks up blocks.
-> Looking at it will make it freeze
-> Looking away makes it teleport
Sounds pretty creepy, right? You imagine these tall, dark, shadowy creatures that have similar abilities to you: able to pick up and possibly place blocks!
And that's pretty much what we got.
I'm sure we all remember the dozens of topics of "z0mg!! endermen!" and "preparing for endermen battle" as people anticipated fighting this horror.
But suddenly, woohoo, the 1.8 leak is here! Time to get fighting, but how on earth do you kill those things?!
Here's the deal: this is the only mob that gives you more than 2 choices on how to kill it.
1.
Yup, that's it. Just place a bucket of water next to the Enderman and you're good to go! Boy, is that challenging.
2.
This is probably the best way to deal with an Enderman. Look directly at it, charge your bow, and shoot it. Don't worry, it's too stupid to teleport to you: so just shoot it once more and it'll die.
3.
While this technically could count as a killing method for all of the other monsters, at least they put up a fight! Just set fire to the ground next to the Enderman once or twice and he'll be a goner.
4.
If all of those methods are somehow too hard for you, you could always just choose to avoid them altogether by slapping on a pumpkin.
5.
What's that? You actually managed to kill an Enderman? Well, now you can enjoy the privilege of them never being able to touch you! Just continuously right-click with this Ender Pearl in your hand to completely negate the only challenge Endermen have- teleporting! You can push them away from you as long as you like: probably until daytime comes and they burn to death.
What's my point in all this? Endermen are extremely underpowered. They were advertised as a creepy and tough-to-kill mob. Instead, we got a creepy and easy-to-kill mob. There are literally so many ways to kill this monster easily, it shouldn't even be counted as a hostile mob.
The very nature of its aggro-on-cursor-touching-it is so that you can avoid it if you aren't prepared: so it wouldn't be bad at all to make this monster much, much tougher. I'm just really disappointed with how they turned out, and the only planned feature for the Endermen that hasn't been implemented yet is new sounds and them placing the blocks they pick up(so don't yell at me "IT'S A PRE-RELEASE!")
tl;dr: Endermen are not challenging, or scary, or creepy.

I'm not responding to people arguing with me anymore. If you don't get what i'm saying by now, re read what iv'e said before.
I wasn't trying to argue, I was just bringing something to your attention. The tweets you reference in the OP are more outdated than the one I quoted.
I'm not of the belief that 1.8 will introduce adventure mode, but now I'm really hoping it does. I'd like nothing more than to rub your nose in it. - To post a comment, please login.

I mean, it is just a little line of text on your screen (unless you click on the thread). If you see a complaining thread, simply rotate your eyes a degree downwards to view the next thread.

What the **** are you talking about, these together don't make any sense. If there is an abundance of food then the hunger system shouldn't be a problem, no? If for some other reason you think it is stupid, please elaborate.
Yes... it is pointless because it doesn't have a use. *slow clap* It WILL have a use though. (Thought I don't see why they added it this update if it doesn't do anything yet)
Well this is your opinion I guess, but can you please elaborate?
Again, this is your opinion, and again, can you explain a bit more why they are unneeded? I love them, personally.

How is it stupid? It looks much more warm and I love the flicker. It gives the game a nice feel. And the chest never made any sense for it to be in the floor or in the wall. If you don't have it in the wall or floor it is fine.
Just go into options, it is pretty simple to do so. I am fairly sure they removed it so you couldn't spam F3 to detect things like torches, mob spawners, the time of day, etc.
I agree with you there, it is odd that they have it there.
And I have no idea why I color-coded my responses.

I love collages.

Seems legit.
I think the main problem here, and this has been said many times before, is that Mojang has WAY too many plates spinning. "This is what happens when an indie studio works on three games at once at the same time as entertaining side projects, being in legal troubles, attempting to have regular vacations, going to conventions multiple times each season, and having mandatory gaming days at work."

A challenge.
