posted a message on Minecraft Multithread / Multicore CPU Support (Will Lead to Huge FPS Boosts)
Hello Everyone and Welcome to the Multithread / Multicore Support Topic. With this topic I want to rally support for this idea and hopefully get it implemented into true Minecraft.

Minecraft is a very CPU intensive game but currently Minecraft will only use a single core of your processor, whether you have a 6-Core I7 Extreme or a single core AMD sempron. This is a complete waste of resources and support should be implemented to balance the load on computers (Especially Laptops). Support for this would lead to major boosts in FPS, even for those who have dated Dual-Core processors.

I already know that a mod exists for this. (Its called Optifine. You can find it here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/249637-11-optifine-hd-d4-fps-boost-hd-textures-aa-af/ ) But I would like to get official support rather than mod support.

So if you support this and would like it to be implemented make your voice heard and do something. This could be leaving a like to this post or simply leaving a comment saying I support.

    Happy Minecrafting! :biggrin.gif:

    Quote from Maxargan

Ok, i downloaded Eternal Night, i survived and lighted the place around me (dying 3 times in the process) and made a little house for protection, and i discovered the little nether cave with a pig spawner in it (No idea if this is intentional or it is a error)

I will make a review when i am done with all the challenges, but my first impressions are (Dont put this on the review, is just a first impression)

The map is brutally difficult, but not unfair, and it makes the player feel "Guilty" of every death, is a nice ambient of loneliness in a wasted land, and i personally feel a especial attach to this map, there is small rewards frequently making the player dont feel helpless during the journey.

I still have many challenges to accomplish, but that is what i think in this moment about the map.

I see you are making sequel to the map, can i help?, i mean you could give me the map and i could work in a part of it, if you dont think i am qualified to make adventure maps, click in my banner down below so you can see my map in progress, i will be really happy if i could work with you.

Wow thx! love when i get feedback like this! Cant wait for full review! :biggrin.gif:

I am Download the map right now, and i think it will be a great experience

Awesome! i cant wait to here what you think!

This game is absoultely breathtaking. What I enjoy most with these Build-from-the-ground-up maps is that finding things has never been so rewarding. Playing through the non-cloud version (I have yet to try Eternal Night! :tongue.gif:), Finding my first sapling really changed everything. I have never been happier to have had a sapling, and from there, everything went smoothly, finding the TnT Stash, the Nether Farm, all that stuff.

Overall, this map has what it takes to be one of the best adventure maps, ranging closely with the Skyblock series.

For that, this gets a 9.5/10.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! i wish everyone would leave a comment like this. Its comments likr yours that helps me know what users liked and disliked. :biggrin.gif:

I just wanted to say that this map is awesome. I was getting a bit tired of Minecraft just playing on my server that I host with my friends. And I decided to give this a whorl. I decided to use NBTEdit and change the map to hardcore since you do not have that difficulty available for the Eternal Night version. I have uploaded a decent amount of pics to my imgur album that I will post in spoiler tags so only click it if you don't care looking at some secrets. It shows my current progress as well as the achievements I have completed. Keep in mind this is hardcore as well.

When I first began the map I was used to being in diamond armor and the mobs not hitting hard. It was definitely a wake up going out there with leather on for the first time. I think I died a total of 3 times so far, this of course being my current map.

Anyways this map is amazing, and I will be playing this exclusively until you release your islands map, any time frame on a release for that map?

Well thank you so much for reply. Second to answer your question i have finished constructing all of the islands now i need to place them in water, then make all the challenges and ****. But my building partner's laptop broke so we cant work on that well so im stuck using my desktop (Which sucks. ((Single core processor and 2 gb of ram))But im getting a very powerful laptop within a week so that should be great. I think im going to stop production of the map until my laptop arrives because on top of that my professors are loading me with projects and homework. So im hoping (No guarantees that i can have the map out within 2-3 weeks. :biggrin.gif: (im sorry if thats to long)

posted a message on How will Shogun 2 Total War perform on these specs?
    Quote from Xaanos

You would run it better if you took our suggestion and get the cheaper laptop that is faster.

Your graphics card has 120 vliw5 shadders.

AMD Llano Integrated graphics have 400.

Get the one we suggested to you in your other thread if you actually want to run games.

My laptop with an AMD 3300 can't even play small battles at 720p with shogun 2.
    It has 40 stream processors.

The AMD 7xxx low end mobile GPU are actually 40nm 5xxx series cards AMD pulled a Nvidia this round.

well that doesnt really answer my question i mean in your opinion what would be the highest graphics setting i could get decent fps on lets say 30 fps?

OK for all yall who have seen me posting many times im doing extensive research on this laptop before i buy it.. So this should be my last question. What kind of graphics quality and FPS and can i see out of these computer specs?

    Specs:
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
    2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM (2.2 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz (Quad-Core I believe)
    1GB AMD Radeon™ HD 7470M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics™ [HDMI, VGA]
    8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
750GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
15.6" High Definition HP LED Brightview (1366x768)

Minimum Specs (Required for playing Total War: Shogun 2):

2 GHz Intel Dual Core processor / 2.6 GHz Intel Single Core processor , or AMD equivalent (with SSE2)
    1GB RAM (XP), 2GB RAM (Vista / Windows7)
256 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card (shader model 3)
    1024×768 minimum screen resolution
    20GB free hard disk space

Could someone tell me what graphics quality i could play on and what its estimated FPS would be?
Another question is how will screen resolution play into this? (Ive never seen a game with a minimum screen resolution like that)

Hey there, I would just like to thank you for creating this map.

I started a few weeks ago and got my friends hooked. So we decided to start a Hold the House server for the few of us, and we are really enjoying it. We love love love this map, its pretty fun. You do run out of things to do though, IMO. Other than that, it is really great! I'll post some pictures of our progress, we are running the Nightmare mode? I think it was called.

I will put it under spoiler just in case

    Our small but growing city.

My buddies castle [He's slightly new to minecraft]

The bridge to the outside world!

    We are currently running
    IndustrialCraft2
    Buildcraft
    IC2/BC Power Converter
    Nether Ores

    It's working great!
    Thanks a BUNCH, GREAT map!

A 1GB 7690M would be fine for bf3 tho if you can afford you might want to look for something better.

Btw where are you buying this from.

no shogun 2 with all the little units my 6970 has to run it below max settings.

what about middle to decent setting because the processor also has a decent say in this yes?

    That is minimum.

The 4670 has 320 stream processors and is the vliw5 arch like the 7470m

Even at a fairly low res it gets unplayable frames at the lowest settings. Granted laptops might have lower res but the 7470 has half the stream processors as the 4670.

it seems that you and Arduouss have differing opionions.

Would this graphics card suffice? 2GB AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7690M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics(TM) [HDMI, VGA]
