Question - How difficult is it to update my map? I've never done that before. Halfway through Austerity at present (version 1.1).

LOL no. I didn't die. Kitt started playing it and got up really close to the sign, so I got a screen grab from his vid.

When you come in I5 (the snowy intersection) for the first time. Head right to the big spruce forest. somewhere along the left of the path to that forest is a small dead garden with some dead trees and a few massive spruce trees. The loot chest there had a pair of every animal spawn egg.
I KNEW I should have burned that place down.

We're almost done - I think - with the map, but if you're interested in watching any of our past live streams: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWHK4NrR-VBgLj-D5IsKULAuoSQd3U3Ci
There's no schedule at the moment, and we've definitely lost a couple blocks lol... I mean, it's mostly working out in our favor at this point.

Big Leaf Forest is a pretty great map for anyone who wants to CTM but doubts how good they are at the game. It's not an easy map, but it's not exceedingly difficult. 3/5 difficulty? Sounds about right.
Probably spoilers when I continue, so...
Exploring is most definitely rewarded, but in true RenderXR fashion, you can be sure that you won't be a walking wrecking ball halfway through the map. Resources are scarce (if you're a crappy explorer^2), and progression is rewarding. I would have liked a rail kit at the monument - or anywhere - I would have liked some rails, ffs. I'm not wasting my frickin' iron on rails. It's not like I can reclaim the iron from the rails. Give me a rail kit, you miser!
Ahem... Sorry about that outburst.
I initially hated that fire spread was off. I have a pretty good PC. I'm glad that fire spread is off.
Stand on some hilltops and look around a bit. It's very pretty.
There are a couple dungeons you can totally cheese. Cheese them. And also record it and make Render watch. I feel he needs to see people cheesing his dungeons after he made the Red Maze.
Huh, you didn't give us any chests for building...? In the (likely) event that the map isn't updated to include a base-building chest (which might actually just include blocks to make the map easier), then you should pay attention to which blocks you use as utility in dungeons. If it's pretty, then you shouldn't plan to get many of it. Save them.
Traps. Were there like three traps? Step up your game, homie. Thought you were tough.
Oh, in the event that you put your adventure on YT and Render watches, be sure to fling him as much **** as he flings you. Keep in mind - this guy is trying to kill you.
I've been playing other maps waiting for US03, and - maybe it's just Stockholm Syndrome - I actually do feel like I'm treated fairly in Untold Stories.
(Also, ETA on Untold Stories 03?)
TL;DR - Big Leaf was fun. I enjoyed playing it as I felt it was well balanced. Saidanmaster didn't hinder my conquest much.
Thanks for the map, RXR

I think it's just a matter of being used to standards - eg - a sign that says "Green Wool." But if you think about it logically for half a second (something I didn't really do), it's pretty clear where the wools and bonus items go.
I did enjoy the challenge; I just wasn't up to the challenge.
PS - I just re-read what I wrote above - sorry if I sounded like a total jerk. Shouldn't have written that five minutes after I gave up

Hey dude, just started a Big Leaf Forest series. My channel is in my sig, and here's my buddy's first vid:
I'm also going to use the banner TatoBig made in my sig. Because I'm a fanboy.
edit: someone please tell me how to make the banner clickable and the whole thing not needing scrolling. i'm bad at this.

I played it for a few lives. I can't do it any more. It's just... I'm not good enough and/or I'm not willing to put in the time. Sorry dude.
It's hard enough and hardcore just makes it annoying - For me, anyway. Better players than I will likely enjoy it.
Criticisms: The rush right at the beginning. It's doable, sure. It's also overwhelming even if you're expecting a challenge.
The monument isn't labeled. Pardon the smartassery - is inferring part of the challenge? Label the thing, put it in the book - something.
Give the charged creepers a longer fuse. Even a second more would feel fair.
But hey - I couldn't get past the goddamn tree, so what do I know?

Haha, that was just me being a smartass after a little too much silly juice
I'm wondering if you've got another map of Goliath's size in the works? I'll play Big Leaf next, probably, but one of the main draws of Goliath was the thought that I'd be living in that world for a very long time (actually ended up being around six months). Growing attached to a world is a major plus for me. It makes the heartbreak more heartbreaking and the victory so much sweeter.
Making a map of that magnitude though - it can't be a simple task...

My final ep will air today, and Render has even commented "I wonder why you are still into this map after the frustration." Well, I'll tell you -
First - Non-spoiler edition: This map - while without any lore - makes you care about it. The rewards have a way of not only offsetting your failures but totally validating your efforts.
"Hey war, shouldn't any map do that because normal progression?" Sure. Yeah. But I want to care because the map made me care.
Second - There are flaws. Of course. I'm going to use the spoiler tag now because of SERIOUS SPOILERS. Not kidding. Do not read if you intend to play this map (WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO - IT'S A GOOD MAP.).
Dude. Don't kill me without giving me a chance to prevent it. EVERCREEP. Not cool. Nobody should be dropped into lava for no reason. I know you agree, and I believe you commented as such. Nobody's feelings would be hurt if you patched it.
Bats. For real. Are they part of your master plan, or completely unintended? They get old and super annoying after about 8 seconds. They add nothing and just frustrate.
Red Maze. Go **** yourself. In my opinion though, it would be a fair dungeon if there was a craptastic/half-broken golden sword with Sharpness 3867 on it once in a while. Maybe one per floor? Also no bats or skeletons. Skeletons ruin the dungeon. There's no reason I should fail a dungeon because of some beef a creeper has with a skeleton.
We already talked about emeralds. When I get to a certain point in the map, I'm (apparently) going to stop giving a crap about the bonus goal - especially if it doesn't benefit me. Yeah, I have my pride, but the main goal will take priority over any sort of bonus goal any day. I missed so many emeralds from Int6 on just because I didn't care any more. Surviving was so much more important. (Some day, someone will fall for your emerald trap :/) Or maybe I'm just a crappy CTM player. We can't all be Zisteau...
Even the last area... Just tell the fine people that the wool didn't f***ing explode and we can move on... F*** that feeling. No joke, for like a whole week I thought I had lost the map until I watched Poopinhammer's vids. That's my biggest gripe - nobody is going to succeed there, but for the dummies like me - just say, "The only thing in that chest was _____."
Keep the final area as is. I only say that because I know the strategy (Die once, then - Run, Forest, Run!)
The thing is - The flaws are not game breaking. You might get mad, and you might ragequit for a few days. But you'll be back. The map is not very forgettable - quite the opposite. Like I said - there's no lore, but you still somehow manage to become attached.
This map deserves more attention than it's currently getting.
Go build something Zistonian.
Oh, what's this? A playlist to my whole Goliath Experience? Must have dropped that link...
PS - Redstone Madness
