Bukkit will be worked on by Mojang, since they own it. It's not dead, and not going to be. Bukkit's era hasn't ended yet, it's far from it.

posted a message on Tired of breaking world saves between versions?
Hi, Vorpal_theFox here, thousands of inexperienced players come across an issue when playing modded minecraft or snapshots; when you reopen the world in a different version, things... disappear or crash. Don't like this? no one does! It's annoying and saddening that hours of playing is gone from 1 click. But how do you prevent such catastrophic acts of *ignorance*? (not to be rude to anyone, we're all cluts here)

Well, the best way to stop this is to take advantage of an *unused* addition to the latest minecraft launcher!

The feature is "Game directory", where your minecraft version is loaded to and minecraft is started up with.
By default, this directory is your .minecraft folder, for every new profile you use. See the potential problem with this? Because when you start up a new modded world, it directs to the .minecraft folder, any world used will be affected by reopening in another version.

How do you take advantage of this *amazing feature*, the Game directory? Easy!
In the game Directory, you can change where minecraft loads from, changing it from default to a custom folder will allow for more possibilities, and less head ache!

    Step 1:
Check the box to enable Game directory. Now you can change the folder location minecraft will be started in.

    Step 2
In your .minecraft folder, make a new folder, for this i made one and called it "Directories". The name doesn't matter, as it has no effect on the outcome.

    Step 3:
Now this is where you'll add a few more folders, depending on what you plan on doing. it doesn't matter how many you add, you can have a folder for every version of minecraft and more!

    Step 4:
Copy the folder location at the top, this will be important in a minute.

    Step 5:
We're making good progress, and you're almost done! nextly, go back to your minecraft launcher, in the checked game directory, paste the folder location for before, the folder will now act as a .minecraft, where your saves, resource packs, and mods will end up for this version.

    Step 6:
It's clean-up time, you'll make your final adjustments now before starting up the game with your latest additions.

    Conclusion:
Once again: because this is a new *Game Directory* all saves, options, mods, resource packs, servers, etc are NOT in here, they will still be in your original .minecraft folder, untouched, upon starting minecraft, you'll notice it'll be jut as you did the first time you got it. you have plenty of options, copy over saves and mods, start fresh, customize to be 100% different from anything done before, etc.

I hope you've enjoyed the tutorial, and learned something. Not everyone will, but those who learned a lot, this was for you! :D

posted a message on Disastrous Single Player Flaw in 1.8 -- Has this happened to you?
There's an easy solution you're overlooking. This will prevent major issues as this, as well as reduce confusion of "what world" you want to use. (incase you're one of thousands that don't rename worlds, to differ between a snapshot world, vanilla world, or modded world) The solution is in the minecraft launcher itself!
    1. Create new profile and rename it to something like "Snapshot", "modded", or "Vanilla" (your freedom of choice)
    2. Click Edit profile
    3. Check "Game directory" (this is where the .minecraft would normally be)
    4. In your .minecraft folder, add a new folder give it any name, within this will be the game directories for future profiles
    5. Add a folder within the newly created one, this one will be for snapshots.
    6. Enter the folder and copy the folder location, (Ex: "C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\Jars\Snapshots")
    7. Back in the launcher, in the spot next to the game directory check, paste the folder location, this is where the profile will load worlds, as if it's the normal .minecraft folder
    8. Change the version to your desire
    9. start minecraft, upon loading up, all previous worlds, settings, and mods will not be there, this is a new minecraft folder, you can easily copy any of the files from the .minecraft to place in the folder, this will allow for separate versions to be loaded without conflicting each other if you were to switch to another profile to play.

Now that this is done, there should b no more issues with back loading, erasing precious worlds! :D

I use the torch under a falling block of sand or gravel for awesome fast mining!

i don't think that's a glitch or even a bug, fallingSand entities can't turn back into a block in the space occupied by the torch, therefor breaking it, proof of this not being a bug/glitch is anvil's falling entity smashing the torch when falling onto it, this "bug" would have been patched along with this feature, making this an interesting "trick" than glitch or bug.

The lava flows a wee bit fast, wouldnt decrease by much considering its so darn hot down there, but reducing it to about %75-%80 of its current speed would be nice, so you can actually escape from it in time.
The reason for the fast lava is because it acts as water would in the overworld, i believe it's the same speed and spread as overworld water.
    Quote from ZaffreAqua
New obsidian beaches bordering the vast lava oceans. It only makes sense as well, considering that you make a portal of obsidian to get here, and when lava reaches the edges, chances are in realistic terms it's going to cool into obsidian.
For obsidian to form, there has to be moisture to cause the lava to harden and make volcanic glass, "hell" is much too hot for water to exist, the temperature is to hot, that water "evaporates" nearly instantly (reason why you can't place water in nether), meaning the lava not only wouldn't harden, but would also be more liquid.
    Quote from ZaffreAqua
Dragon lairs. These rare caves are large, and will have a Red Dragon spawn inside them.
I don't think adding a dragon to hell will be fun or enjoyable, as it's another mob to knock you into the nether's many lava oceans, and Chromatic dragons are hardly ever neutral, as they have valuables to protect.
    Quote from ZaffreAqua
    Ender Creeper.
even though they won't teleport within 12 blocks of you, it's still OP, as you can check your back before starting a build, or farming in the end, and right as you turn a way, an ender creeper teleport behinds you and paces towards you, creepers in the overworld are enough to deal with, and having one that can teleport, regardless of circumstances, is doing to have players not want to use the version they're included in, or atleast many "old school" kind of players and builders.
