The example above works.... on books + quill. So as long as they do not sign it, it's fine...

The example above does not work. Now, how come this works fine on books + quill, but will not work on a written (signed) book?

Written books in 1.8+ use the JSON text component for formatting and events. Once the book is signed and closed, the text is reformatted to JSON. For example, signing this book:

/give @p minecraft:writable_book 1 0 {pages:["text clear"]}

{"text":"text clear"}

/clear @p minecraft:written_book 0 1 {pages:["{\"text\":\"text clear\"}"]}

So, real simple, I'm trying to create a NPC which sells custom items. I'd like them to sell a mob spawner which spawns sheep. Here is the command I am using to summon the villager.

This does not work however. It summons the villager, but the item bought is a default mob spawner (pigs). It will not allow me to obtain one which has the Sheep EntityId, so I must be using this wrong.

Similarly, if I use the following command on a command block:

/setblock ~ ~1 ~ minecraft:mob_spawner 0 replace {EntityId:"Sheep",SpawnData:{}}

This one spawns a mob spawner which spawns sheep. For whatever reason, I'm having problems gettin' a NPC to sell a sheep mob spawner. Please advise me on where I went wrong, or if this is impossible.

The "EntityId" tag is not item data, it's a tag for the tile entity itself. In order to apply data to a tile entity from its item variant, you must use the "BlockEntityTag" tag, which holds the potential data. Item structure:

{id:"minecraft:mob_spawner",Count:1,tag:{BlockEntityTag:{EntityId:"Sheep"}}}

/summon Villager ~1 ~ ~ {Offers:{Recipes:[{buy:{id:"stone",Count:1},sell:{id:"minecraft:mob_spawner",Count:1,tag:{BlockEntityTag:{EntityId:"Sheep"}}}}]}}

it's impossible for that server to hav 15gig ram, as it has to be provisioned in pair'ed banks.

4 gigs
16 gigs
24 gigs
32 gigs

There are a huge amount of E3 models, make sure that you looked up the right one, also there is no reason to have 15 gigs for a minecraft server. You would do better to have 8 gigs and let the os use the rest as file cache.
