    posted a message on Underground Gardens/Forests and a growing question
    Okay, this is partly a question, and partly an explanation to some people.

    Firstly. Trees grow underground, provided there are either torches around the sapling you plant, on at least 4 sides, and one block below the 'ground' block. (Ground blocks are the dirt-looking ones). And at the same time, make sure the tree has at least 2 blocks to grow on either side, and about 6 blocks up (a 5x5x6 block so to speak, taking the middle block of the sapling into consideration)
    In Example
    (G = Ground block , S= Sapling, T=Torch, L=Lava, | = Empty Space <needed>)

    From above:
    |||T|||
    T||S||T
    |||T|||

    From 1st person view:
    |||S|||
    T||G||T

    Same trick works with lava, just make sure the lava is either 1 block below the sapling's ground block, or on the same leve and around it
    From first person:
    |||S|||
    L||G||L

    OR
    |||S|||
    |||G|||
    L||L||L

    Now, here comes my question. If I put Glass, as a walkable surface, just above the lava (as in the second example, in level with the ground block) Will the sapling grow into a tree? Or does Glass obstruct Light?

    are there any connected caves? Make sure you have EVERYWHERE explored and lit up.

    no connected caves... and I doubt there are any lava-resistant creatures, cause other then going through lava, there's no other way to my plot of land

    I placed down more torches in my plot of land as well, since at the moment, it's mostly a rock-filled area, with a rectangular 'border' that signifies my area of digging up to. All the caves have been sealed up, that aren't lava-connected (as in, plain lava, no groundblocks)

    EDIT: I think I did find what was causing it though... the space between a couple of the torches didn't cover a gap in the wall, near my chests XD so enemies were massing through there by the looks of it.... also had a group of 5 zombies skydive from the top O_o that was fun.... especially since one landed right on me, and took me down to 3 hearts, before dieing from the impact XD

    From almost the very top/lobby

    From the Second-Ground floor (Currently clearing out the area so I can plant trees in the image after (which is the actual ground floor)

    So, I just dug a mine down inside a mountain, all the walls are sealed, and it reaches down all the way to where the lava seems to be on level. Now, the mineshaft itself, leading down, is roughly 8 squares wide, and long, with a set of stairs going down walls, with halfsteps for quicker movements. However, enemies seem to be able to still get into the mine somehow. I placed doors on top, sealed the very top 'lobby' entry level with a layer of rock, leaving only an opening for the stairs.... what's causing the enemies to get down so low? It's a PitA going out, mining, and going back to drop off your materials in chests, only to have a bunch of zombies, or skeles or spiders hanging in the area. Some die on the fall down, as there are things like feathers and gunpowder around.

    Any possible solution for this? As in, without sealing the mine up completely. I want the shaft to be empty down the middle, as you go down
