    So if you don't care about authentication;

You can get people playing again if you change

    online-mode=true

    to
    online-mode=false

    in the server.properties file.

Yeah I can say that this works to get local connections back on, and if external connections know your ip they will be able to connect too. You just can't authenticate that the person who logs in, is who they are or if they even own the full game.

Thanks for the positive feedback !

We'll be migrating to Oracle JDK 7 in 0.5.0, and I'll push out the GUI extras asap :smile.gif:

    -----------------

On another note, please can the Mods transfer editing rights of the front page to me, as requested by the OP ?

    Thanks,

    Nick

Can't wait! I should have mentioned that that was 8 people doing intensive server work for an hour, on a 20/5 cable connection and all connections were external with about 10-13 hops each (i was remote to the computer watching and talking to people the whole time.)

I'll add it as yet another 'extras' feature -- please note though that it will push your RAM Usage up to about 80mb static compared to the 34mb static we now have.

Furthering bnm's post over an x64 version, we are deciding whether to use JDK6 or 7. There are numerous threads saying mine craft doesn't play nice with JDK 7...

Thank you for the reply. I think a 4gb system should be ok with 80mb of ram for a gui ;P

Also I haven't done much in terms of real testing using debug and logs, but I got rid of jre6 in place of jre7 and Minecraft (which used to crash when it hit 2gb of ram used on my 8gb machine) now will run at full capacity using up to 6gb of ram and not crash or glitch. I also got a mild fps bump from 120 to about 150 which is pretty significant. (Mind you this is with optifine on and the settings to load chunks and not discard them but keep them in memory which is how I achieved 6gb of ram used)

As for server, I have a 4gb machine that has as much stripped from windows as I can right now and I can launch the vanilla server with 3.5gb of ram allocated to it running under java7 and the overall performance has increased even to outside connections. I have stress tested that with 8 users on at once with 15 distance and the order to place and break as many blocks as you can for an hour. No glitches or hiccups or anything going bad.

500 mpbs? okay then...anyway, shouldn't you just run a second cable from your modem to your ps3? and not worry about connecting the ps3 and computer? '

the bottom line is that there is no way to turn one ethernet cable into 2 without upgrading something.

I already have a splitter for the wall. Check the last few posts here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/416154-connect-2-computers-to-internet-from-1-ethernet-wallplate/page__view__findpost__p__5815532 I explain there how to send 2 separate internet signals through one ethernet cable using a pair of splitters. The issue is I already have that set up to where one computer has one connection and the other has the other connection because the splitter only sends it to 2. Therefore the ONLY way to get internet to the PS3 would be through one of the PC's so I don't have to keep swapping the plug. Anyways I don't think you understand, IT IS WORKING. So I just don't really get the point of your post.

Also I don't think you believed me when I said I get nearly 500mb/s transfer rate from my 1000base-t port on my computer to the 1000base-t port on the PS3 in full-duplex mode... I mention streaming a blu-ray title (from a live conversion of an MKV rip) at nearly 500mbps rating. This is a file from my computer to the PS3 less than 3 ft of cord between them. So I get the maximum speed possible in a setup like this which is FANTASTIC. I get roughly 93-97mbps transfer speed between the other PS3's in the house that have to have the file fetched over the network through the routers.

Anyways, yeah this is case solved.

Haha yeah I won't touch it for sure. I just can't comprehend why it doesn't exist one moment and it now exists when the computer just sat there (I don't let it go to sleep) overnight and now it's there. Cause I looked at it the night before, stopped touching the computer till I woke up in the morning and tried it again.

Maybe it knew I was about to smash it to pieces... Hope this one sticks.

You can add a desktop to MineOS+ with a plethora of basic functions -- open office, firefox, filezilla to name a few

Is it possible that you are going to release a version of MineOS+ that gives you the option to install it with a GUI (once installed at least)? That's really what I would prefer. Minimal function just a file browser and text editor and direct access to the nogui or gui version of the minecraft and bukkit server.

Ok so I'm not sure what changed.. cause I did NOTHING. But I went in to create a new bridge this morning (I removed it a few days ago to try the sharing thing again to no avail) and spaced and went to sharing first on accident. Strangely, it had the selection box to share the connection or not... I'M SO CONFUSED AS TO WHY IT'S NOW THERE!! Regardless.. it is working as it should be and I have a full 1gbps connection between the PC and PS3 for MAX streaming ability and maximum bandwidth throughput.

I would remove the bridge since it is not necessary in this case, I find it hard to believe it doesn't work without the bridge added. Instead of disabling the bridge, could you possibly remove it?

That's what I've been doing all along. I never disabled it when trying to share because share isn't available to check off if the bridge is still there.

I've seen them before as well. They are normal to find sometimes, but I'm a fan of trying to reshape tha land to make it look more natural. Plus I'm trying to clean up and build on this world to make it a server for some friends to play on and explore.

I hate going in to change things. I love the way the landscape generator has been made and try to keep it as close to as it was as possible. Only changing it if I need to landscape for a building.

Go to Network and Sharing Center
    Go to Manage adapters
Right click the ethernet card that is connected to the internet and select properties
Click the Sharing tab and allow internet access to the proper ethernet port (Lan 1, 2, Wireless, etc)
If you have trouble doing what I have said, look up for "Windows 7 Internet Connection Sharing"

That would work if it were Windows XP. The thing is, I can go to the sharing tab of the current active port and hit "share" checkbox but it won't let me choose an output port to share to. That's why I created the bridge in the first place. So I don't really understand how to enable it without a bridge. When I DO hit the share button without a bridge, it doesn't enable internet on the other adapter that my PS3 is plugged into.

install linux on PS3 (oh wait. you cant anymore. thank you sony!)

but for the rest. i have no clue.

why dont you buy a router and hook your PS3 up via wifi?

Because I already have a router and streaming over wifi only yields 5mbps when the PS3 is in range. And where it currently sits, it is impossible to receive a wifi signal in the first place. When it DOES work, I get nearly 500mbps transfer rate which lets me stream with live conversion a full 1080p BD movie with 5.1 surround sound without any lag or buffering issues. This is an issue with WINDOWS. NOT THE PS3.
