posted a message on Win 10: List of Issues

So I've been playing this world singleplayer/lan with my g/f while I've been streaming for the last few weeks. This was a newly created world specifically to stream on so its really no that old. Here are my current issues with the game that I've encountered that have been incredibly frustrating.

    1. Passive mobs spawn within 16 blocks behind me randomly.
    2. Old school mob platform/traps dont seem to work. Streamed yesterday demonstrating, mobs simply dont spawn. I built 2 different types, one that I've used multiple times for skyblock modpacks in Java Edition up near the sky limit. The other the giant room, if you skip around the middle of the following video you can see me building these structures. Even tried creating a new world thinking it had been fixed in a newer update and it didn't seem to fix it. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/160488058
    3. Also as seen above in the video there was a wierd lighting glitch, fully dark room, strange light making it fully lit still. No explanation. About the 2hr mark of the video.
    4. Rain falls through solid blocks near the sky limit.
    5. I've not seen a single squid spawn.
    6. Wither skeletons can spawn on halfslabs.
    7. Halfslabs let light shine through them.
    8. In a singleplayer game only things I've named with a nametag keep their name. My girlfriend who connects via lan has had to rename her donkey 3 different times and if I close out the game it loses the name.
    9. My current world, I've not seen any chests in my nether fortress, a newly created world however does have them so possibly a bug thats been fixed since my world was created.

I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking about but number 2 really baffles me. Especially if things are built near the sky limit stuff should still be allowed to spawn. I've seen videos of people making mob spawners and such but I have no idea what the are doing different. Do I still need to clear out all caves even at the sky limit?

posted a message on [1.7.2] Ponderosa - a ranch mod.
Note: This is a WIP. The design is constantly changing and this is only a small part of what we have already planned. However, if you have any ideas you want to shoot our way we will credit you for those ideas if they are new to our mod.

    - Design Document by Vilicus -

    Team Lead: Vilicus
    Programmer: Dawgeth
    Texture Artist: Vilicus
    Modeler: Alex

Description: The mod uses vanilla passive mobs and improves upon their breeding/harvesting potential by applying statistics to babies. New tools/machines take advantage of these hidden statistics in various ways, such as new items, fertilizers, fuels, and crops. Integration with other mods is planned, like Buildcraft, Forestry, Railcraft, Thermal Expansion, Not Enough Items, etc.

    Cow Progression:
You have 2 cows and you’re ready to breed them. At first they don't have anything special about them other than they are normal Vanilla cows. Instead of breeding them using normal wheat, you use chemically altered wheat for this specialized breeding. Using this new wheat, you feed it to 2 cows like you would normally in Vanilla. They produce at first what would appear to be a regular baby cow. However this is not a Vanilla baby cow, Vanilla parents bred with chemically altered wheat produce a new type of cow that is given a number of randomly generated stats. When you click on the baby using a Digital Refractometer, a GUI opens up with a display of different stats given to this new baby. A baby gets its stats based on the stats of the adults. Vanilla cows normally would have a base set of stats. If one parent is Vanilla and the other is not, the traits passed on are determined by whatever ends up being the more dominant trait. There are also different chances for traits to be passed on, a female is 4 times more likely to be born, than a male for instance. Traits can consist of sex, lifespan, hunger, production, heartiness, and speed. Your goal is to breed cows for traits that fit your goals. High hunger, will produce more droppings on the ground, and more cudd. High production will produce more milk. High heartiness will increase the number of meat, this value changes based on age, before or past its prime the heartiness level will decrease accordingly. High speed determines the speed at which you can ride it (only bulls can be ridden). So, now that you have your cow, what can you do with it? Well a cow with a high amount of hunger will now eat more grass. The more grass a cow eats, the more cudd it will contain in its stomach. A cow that eats more will now also poop more, producing cow pies where its been. Cowpies fertilize an area of land and increase growth rate. Crops grow faster, and grass re-grows. They can also be picked up and replaced if you need to move them. They also act as a fuel source in a furnace, and can be “squeezed” into sewage. Cudd can be processed into several different things, biomass, fertilizer, hay.

    Cow Example #1:
Say you have a bull, terrible stats on it, its not good for much else besides meat, castrate it to add a bonus to its heartiness value and when it is butchered it will produce more meat than a bull butchered without castration.

    Pig Progression:
So you are looking to get started with pigs. Pigs offer some of the most delicious food around. But to get it, you are going to have to do a little breeding. They can also be some of the most dangerous. One must be very careful when in close proximity to these creatures. To get started with breeding, you’ll need to again, chemically alter their food supply before breeding. By combining their carrots with a chemical, when you breed 2 pig Vanilla pigs together they will create a baby pig with randomly generated stats. Breeding of pigs works much like the breeding of cows does. A mod pig bread with a vanilla pig will pass on the traits to the baby depending on the dominant traits of the parents. Some vanilla traits may be more dominant. Traits for pigs are also very similar to that of cows; sex, lifespan, hunger, heartiness, aggressive, and speed. The main difference being that pigs lose the production trait but gain the aggressive trait. The more aggressive a pig is, the more likely it is to attack any other non-pig mob. You can breed them to be docile and friendly, but an aggressive pig will have the widest range of flavors in its meats, producing the best foods to eat. Flavorful honey-glazed ham, apple-smoked bacon, bbq pork rips are some of the flavors of foods you will expect to find from a more aggressive pig. Again heartiness level of any pig is determined by its lifespan, which means a less hearty pig will drop few amounts of meat when it has been butchered.

posted a message on Modding FAQ! [1.7.2] [forge]
Sure why not... I'm lead designer, texturer and manager of a mod development team. I have no idea if my coder knows how to do this or not since we are just getting started on our first (well technically second) mod but pretty sure he could figure it out since he works in application development for a federal bank. Anyways, I thought I would preemptively ask on his behalf how to go about pursuing a process that we are going to need done. How do you go about adding custom models as blocks or entities? Do they have to be a particular file-type? My modeler is experienced with 3D Studio Max but he's new to the modding experience. I'm sure there is information about this out there but 1.7.2 may have changed that and sometimes its just easier to ask someone who knows than scrounge around looking for old information. Thanks in advance.

posted a message on Mutant Creatures - Spider Pig, Spider Pig [v1.4.9]
So not sure if we're like super unlucky on my server or what but we've got the mod installed and the rating in the config is set to 20. However, none of us on the server have had a single mutant anything spawn. I've played in single player with the same mods installed and didn't take long to come across a mutant enderman and one of our other guys flew around and found like 5-6 mutants in his test world. So I'm wondering if maybe theres an issue with the server not allowing mutants to spawn? I can spawn them in with eggs, just haven't seen them naturally.
