Sep 18, 2012VileAssassin posted a message on Minecraft may be going a little out of control with these snapshots/updatesI've been wanting more decorative blocks since Beta 1.3. And ever since I got Terraria, I've wanted it even more.Posted in: Future Updates
IMO the more ways we can build in Minecraft the more replay value Minecraft has and the more creative the Adventure maps will be. Don't think of it as cheesy or unfitting or pointless, because every bit added is contributing to the replay value of the game. Minecraft needs more pointless things in the game. I know its strange to say this, but its true.
The more abstract non purposeful things put in the game are the things that add the most replay value. Example: Each new block/placable object added to the game can amount to hours of thinking up ways to use it/ build with it when a new mechanic/item will only amount to minutes of intermittent use unless it is a game changing new feature. We need the devs to think creatively when they add things to Minecraft, and really I can't see how these things are changing Minecraft anymore than its already changed.
Sep 9, 2012I'll just let my insight on the OP's issue as it is a valid complaint. It was just presented in a completely ignorant way. Log placement would be simplified and more efficient if there was either a orientation key that when held down or preferrably toggles by a single press that would affect log and other block orientation placement. It would essentially disable inverted/non-standard placements on objects, until it is pressed again.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
Accept that the game is evolving and becoming more complex. Give positive feedback for future improvements. Complaining about certaining features existing without proper solutions leads to confusion and we all suffer because of it. Be grateful that new features are being added to the game as Mojang could stop updating at anytime regardless of the current state of the game.
Sep 9, 2012*facepalm at this*Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
I can't place logs correctly anymore, the game is ruined. Notch would never do this. Ever since Jeb took over, the game has just gone downhill. I mean who in this game would want to write in books and have multiple world types. We should fire Jeb, and plead Notch to come back, because these weekly snapshots actually have new content and we wouldn't want new content. We need Notch to complain about every little idea added to the game, delaying the process by months.
Sep 7, 20121, I don't understand why you're refering to some trade value that doesn't exist in vanilla Minecraft to state your point. It may have ruined the balance for whatever mod your server is using, but that's hardly a representation of everyone in general.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
2. The original enchantment system made it impossible for the casual player to get any enchantments. The current system is better for more people than the original system.
3. PVP is still awesome in Multiplayer servers. Maybe you should check out what enchantments and potions can do in a PVP fight.
4. Building collaborative projects has always been more important than actually surviving. If your server is inactive because they have everything then your guests are doing it wrong. They should be building things with their resources not hoarding it away, expecting the game to give them a reason to hoard more. The complainers about having too much iron come to mind. "We get way too much iron from caves, I have so much of it. They need to reduce the amount of iron that forms". Why don't you try building with it?
Sep 6, 2012I come back to the forum and the first thread I see is this. Come on, everyone was bitching about the game not being a challenge and they finally deliver a true boss battle that requires enchanting and people still aren't happy. BTW the uncaging thing is supposed to make it unable to be farmed, because that's what people are going to do instead of fighting it normally.Posted in: Discussion
Deal with it.
May 10, 2012I believe Minecraft needs special items that you can only get in places like dungeons. I'm not referring to things like saddles and future obtainable items. I'm talking about special decorative items, lore related things, special tools or arrows, special statues, things that don't and wont have an alternate way of getting except from dungeons.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
I'm taking this idea straight from Terraria. It's really exciting to not know what unique item I may get by looking in a dungeon chest. Looting should be exciting. Instead the dungeons in Minecraft just feel disappointing, and the strongholds are even worse.
May 10, 2012I have to mention this. Isn't Bukkit remaking SMP from the ground up? It shouldn't be the same SMP by the time these changes are complete. I think we should trust Bukkit's ability to create a stable experience for everyone.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
Mar 1, 2012VileAssassin posted a message on What do you think should be the main focus of 1.3?Jeb most certainly has his hands full with 1.2. So many interesting bugs. It reminds me of Beta, but in a good way.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
Anyways It's most certainly going to be the API update, but that doesn't mean that we wont receive weekly AI tweaks and new features along the way. The end goal will just be the API. I just hope Jeb will decide to fix the major bugs in 1.2. If he does oit the Notch way and makes people wait until 1.3 to get a stable game, then people are going to RAGE.

Feb 27, 2011AtomicStryker posted a message on [1.13.2] Dynamic Lights - portable and moving lightsourcesPosted in: Minecraft Mods
Announcing: The AWESOME update
- rewritten from scratch to be a FML Coremod for Minecraft 1.4.2, requires Forge
- boosted efficiency A LOT, I'm positive it cannot be done any better now :3
- Dynamic Lights is now modular! See readme!
- configuration files for Dynamic Light modules can now be found at /config/
- global toggle Button can now be configured via Controls Menu
For those of you that don't know what FML Coremod means...
DRAG AND DROP INSTALL, YE GODS
I'll just put the readme here. Marvel at it's glory.
google code link
And you know the best part about this update?
Its already available. Just re-download off the 1.4.2 Forge link :3
This modification makes 'shining' items (default: Torch, Glowstone, Glowdust, Lit Pumpkin, Redstone, Lava Bucket, powered Minecart) illuminate everything around them if
1) the player has them equipped (in hand/armor)
2) they are dropped on the ground
3) another player has them equipped in Multiplayer
On top of that, burning Entities shine light, and Creepers about to explode light up!
You may add any Item ID you wish as shiny item, via the settings file. Also supports armor items!
Toggle button ingame:
The key is "L". You can turn all dynamic Lights on/off with it. The button can be rebound using the ingame options.
There is no limit to the number of lights you can create, note however they are fairly FPS-costly. You can disable modules to obtain better FPS!
I recommend using Optifine for replacing Notch's funky render code with slightly less funky rendering code.
The mod works in Multiplayer, yet is clientside, it cannot lag servers. Note however 'dropped' light sources will not necessarily prevent Mobs from Spawning, and neither will your handheld light.
Note: DO NOT INSTALL THE COREMOD ON SERVERS! It will crash on load.
See readme in your downloaded file.
Config Syntax help:How the config syntax works:
[DynamicLights_thePlayer, DynamicLights_dropItems and DynamicLights_otherPlayers configs]
* Possible setups:
* X := simple ID X, wildcards metadata
* X-Y := simple ID X and metadata Y
* X-Y-Z := simple ID X, metadata range Y to Z
There is a default value used as "setting", you can specify one by appending "=x" to the ID part
Valid Entry examples:
Torch minecraft id is "torch", will use the default light value (15)
Torch minecraft id is "wool"
Wool, magenta subtype (meta 2), will use a light value of 12
Wool BlockID, accepts metadata range [2..5]
Item ID range [314..317] covering golden armor, wildcarded meta/damage which means any value goes
Also unnecessarily specifying the default light value of 15, you could leave =15 out aswell
There no longer is numeric Block or Item id's. Use the string identifiers, google "Minecraft Data" to get a listing.
Values that cannot be mapped to anything will be logged and ignored

Sep 19, 2012Posted in: Recent Updates and SnapshotsQuote from XinkcAgain, is there overlap in the mod user groups? Do we actually have numbers for those mods? Is it that the ones who use it are very vocal compared to the average Vanilla user? Is there a difference between the two groups in the amount of noise they make? Are the people who use Bukkit servers using the mods when they play by themselves? What type of plugins are used in these servers most often? Are they protection mods? What is the ratio of modded/vanilla servers regardless of plugins? If there are more modded servers then do many people have much of a choice if they want to play with others?
You know I can't answer these, but I don't need to as it's irrelevant to what I'm saying. The modding community should never, ever, ever, ever, ever be overlooked, especially in a game as popular as Minecraft.
Quote from XinkcThat percentage seems right if mod users are defined as people who actually download mods and not ones who use them indirectly through servers.
If we count people who play on Bukkit server and enjoy plugins then it would be even higher. How much? I can't say, but it's definitely not some invisible minority. Bukkit-based servers are simply far, far more popular, and a fair chunk of MC players do play online at least occasionally.
Sep 18, 2012Personally, I think the witch is the wood structure.Posted in: Future Updates
You see, wood floats and ducks float. If ducks float, ducks are made of wood. If witches burn, they must also be made of wood. If ducks and witches are both made of wood, they both float.
So, toss the wood structure in a lake and see if it floats. If it does, it's a witch.
Sep 17, 2012I have thought up a new amazing block for Minecraft. This block would be called crumblestone. This block would crumble after about 1.5 seconds of standing on it. It would have the texture pack of stones ,but have a few tiny cracks in it as to identify it as crumble stone. It would be able to be naturally spawned ,or be maade by a player by taking smooth stone ,and putting it into the furnace again. Players would be able to use it as a trap ,or for challenges like parkour. I will hope that you add this block into the game. Thank you for your time.Posted in: Suggestions

Enderpearls are used in teleporting. Nothing with night vision.

1) The logs were @Dinnerbone, not @Jeb_.
2) No one is going to "GET RID OF 'EM!" just because you seem to lack the ability to place them properly.
3) IMO, Jeb and Dinnerbone are doing things better and faster that Notch.
4) I love the horizontal logs, makes internal wooden support beams look... better. Way better.
5) Also... what's "complex" about any of the updates? The only thing remotely complex in Minecraft is advanced redstone contraptions.
Not added for adventure. A few other things were, but this was just a gift to all builders.Quote from UnknowGuy200
1. In wrong section of forum. 2. It was added for adventure mode. It also adds more creative into making bridges and fallen down trees. Don't expect them to get rid of it just for you.
