You do realize the Orange County Convention Center is the second largest convention center in the United States(according to Wikipedia)? The more people you want at an event the bigger the floor space you need. The bigger the floor space, the more $$$ it costs to rent it, furnish it, hire security, staff, consultants, stage crews, vendors, and the list goes on. That increase in $$$ to put on the event will be tacked on to the price of admission. The more people you have the less of a personal, intimate and enjoyable experience you will get out of the event. Now the biggest mistake I believe that Mojang and/or EventBrite did was not having some kind of system to deter bots from ordering tickets.

    and

    WEBSTER UNIVERSITY GRADUATION

Who wants to dress up as a creeper and infiltrate one of those?

Haha!, a bunch of entrepreneurs trying to get their business rolling, college students walking across the stage to get that hard earned diploma and a bunch of Minecon attendees, some of which with costumes, all under one roof in one day... what could possibly go wrong? or what could possibly go right?

What is the weather like in Florida around November? What sort of clothes should people bring :)

Averages for weather in the month of November for Orlando,FL:

Precipitation: 2.17 inches (November is the driest month)

    High Temp: 79F

    Low Temp: 59F

    SOURCE- http://www.weather.c...onthly/USFL0372 - www.weather.com

I'm expecting fair weather so nothing cold related. So maybe bring a pair of shorts, jeans and some short sleeve shirts. If there is a "nether" party I would probably bring jeans and a nice shirt ;)

posted a message on Should Mojang But A Small Amount Of Tickets For Minecon Back On Sale?
You can't simply add several more hundred people into a enclosed public space due to building and fire codes. There are other factors too at the reason why Mojang is only allowing 7500 into the hall that they've rented for Mincon as people stated above. I'm sorry you you can't make it to the convention. Maybe next year?

Yeah I actually didn't have any problems getting my ticket. Just hit refresh before then right on and just started pounding my info in to get my two tickets. Of course I also was preparing things for a couple weeks ahead of time and was ready. Rather disappointed the "discount" of minecon hotels is total rubbish. Kayak had them cheaper, same hotel and all. (Use Private/Incognito when buying tickets on sites, cookies up your cost when you return visit, I am actually going to post a quick vid to show how absurd it can be.)

Tell me about it! The Minecon discount wasn't that much of a discount. I'm staying at the Rosen Plaza Hotel and the price quote I got for going through the Minecon booking was $139.00 per night. The price for Travelocity bundled with round-trip airfare came out to be a little over $60 per night!

Why is everyone bashing the people that bought tickets for capes so much? Jesus people, be nicer to your community :/

As somebody stated, capes in mc are supposed to be special as we can't buy them in some online store or whatever; that's EXACTLY why people buy tickets for the cape! Because they're special.
Or maybe someone wants to attend and get the cape, but they don't have the extra money for travel, housing, food, etc; so they figure getting the cape is the next best thing.

With all that said, those people who buy tickets for capes are still contributing to Mojang and the development of this game; show some sense of community :/

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with some of your comments. Capes are suppose to be special, yes I agree on that, but Minecon is also special as well. Minecon is suppose to be an event where people come together to celebrate Minecraft. Getting a virtual cape is just a bonus. You can't put a price on sharing thoughts, ideas, experiences, social engagements going on at Minecon. To me that is more special than an intangible item that will probably be forgotten with time. What you can't forget will be the experiences you will have at Minecon. Meeting people who are passionate with Minecraft just like yourself. Heck, you might even make new friends that could last a lifetime.

If people can't find the extra money for travel, food , and lodging on top of the ticket then why in the world would they even spend $159.00 and some odd cents(there's a fee for buying thickets on EventBrite's site) for a virtual item that does NOTHING for them in real life? Where are the priorities in that?! If people didn't have the means to fully attend Minecon with all the costs involved then buying a ticket shouldn't have even crossed their minds.

I honestly don't think the Mojang team puts on Minecon to see smiling fans that want a cape. They worked really hard to make this game possible and a cape is NOT what defines Minecraft. A cape shouldn't be the highlight of all their efforts from spending late nights coding and testing to probably missing some important events in their personal lives as well.

Uhhh... I agree with the other people above me about checking the official Mojang website. Yes, it would have been helpful because Lydia Winters posted about Minecon 2013 tickets for sale on July 31, 2013 right smack on the MAIN page of Mojang.com and if you had read her post you would have seen this quote:

" Visit minecon.mojang.com to book! Tickets are $150 each, 3yo and under get in for free and don’t need a ticket! "

Also, I don't know how you found fake sites selling Minecon tickets but I just did a Google search for "Minecon" ... and guess what? There were zero fake sites selling Minecon tickets on the first page of results. You got a right to be upset about not being able to go to Minecon but I really don't think it's fair to be making up excuses because things didn't turn out the way you want them to be.

I don't want to be a sour grape as well but I can guarantee you Mojang will not sell anymore than the 7500 tickets sold already. As several people have stated there would be logistical issues such as crowd control, fire occupancy codes, contracts and leasing agreements for OCCC have been finalized, and so on. If they even sold 50 percent more tickets who's to say more people won't complain about not having a ticket after those sell out too? Also Mojang has stated they want to keep the amount of attendees minimal for a more intimate experience with their fans. IMO I think 7500 people is way too many to be an intimate experience. I know some people are gonna be up in arms with this next opinion... But I think Minecon should be limited to 5000 people or less and have several regional Minecons.

I appreciated the post. I'm not going Sunday and was hoping to let someone else into the event and recoup some costs and offer an opportunity for someone who didn't get tickets. It was useful to know that due to Mojangs non-transferable policy I can't do this under Florida law. Sorry Minecraft fans.

    Thanks.

It kinda sucks cause you're only attending Saturday and not Sunday and the ticket is for both days. I have read and seen posts and videos of where Minecon attendees got a wrist band for the entire event so I'm thinking it would be almost impossible to give the wrist band to someone else.

They should consider selling single day passes. I know you can get a refund for tickets because there is an option for it under EventBrite's My Tickets menu but then you lose your chance to attend too on Saturday.

    But lets get this first,

    1. Nobody is hiring a hitman to kill your spouse
    2. Take lint for example and put in maybe an xbox or high valued item.
    3. Last time I check this is a minecraft forum, not law and order.

    EDIT:
Don't get me wrong, I don't think that scalpers are right, and I'm not a scalper either. Im just saying, people have done that before.

I was using that murder scenario as an example just like you were using the lint for getting the tickets but I was using the example to show how saying you get tickets free from a sale of something different would-be considered fraudulent. Its a forum, a forum to discuss things... It might not relevant to you but I'm just saying that this kinda stuff can happen to anyone and could cost them thousands of dollars. Yeah I know, I sound like some kinda lawyer with all the technical information that is probably going a bit overboard but it wouldn't hurt to inform people about it. Nobody likes to be ripped off in any way shape or form.

Hi, im selling this wonderful piece of lint that comes with two free minecon tickets, would anyone like to buy it?

    3000 Dollars Later

    Thats a Loophole

It's a loophole and also it's good evidence for a prosecutor to convict someone of INTENTIONALLY trying to sell a ticket. It would be a stupid defense because it shows the intent to trying to sell tickets but now your're covering it up by saying they are free if you buy X item with it. For example, a spouse hires a hitman to kill their other spouse. Well the hitman kills the spouse but the other spouse didn't actually commit the murder, however, they are still guilty under the intention to commit murder. There are laws for against committing a crime and there are laws against the intent of committing a crime. The seller has willful knowledge that they can not sell their ticket at such a high price or sell it at all so they give it away for free with the purchase of another item that can be sold. If they didn't have knowledge of that then why would they not sell the tickets directly instead of X item and including free tickets?

Good find. Problem with your find is that you are assuming the purchase and the sell is happening inside Florida, or even the United States for that matter. This finding covers those who are buying and selling inside Florida but doesn't do squat for sales outside Florida or even sales outside the United States.

    Just sayin'

    I hope this helps.

I realize that, but more importantly the statute 817.355 states that even the possession of having a counterfeit ticket is illegal. I'm not saying that the following will happen but what if someone is so desperate to buy a ticket from an unofficial source and they get a fake ticket or tickets, then show up at the event? I know most places might turn you away but what if they question you about it and decide to take further actions? I just wanted to provide the information out their to people who are considering selling or buying tickets outside of EventBrite. What everyone chooses to do with the information is up to them. I totally agree that it doesn't do squat for anyone outside of Florida but people need to research and look into what they're doing and realize the consequences.
