1.8 milage may very. Unfortunatly many people, despite having good computers more then able to run the game, still get lots of lag for unknown reasons as of yet.
Ive been lucky enough to have zero issues on any of my 5 computers. I would love to get my hands on a computer having this lag problem so I could see it first hand and better understand it.

Now developed by SatanicSanta!
Professor Flaxbeard's Wondrous Steam Power Mod, (Flaxbeard's Steam Power or FSP for short), is a tech mod based on steam power as its core. This is the project I've always wanted to make, and after I worked on my debut mod, Thaumic Exploration, I knew I was ready. The goal of FSP is innovative content that encourages fun play rather than trying to oneup other tech mods.
FSP includes ingame documentation, in the mod's documentation book, Esteemed Innovation. This journal can be crafted after collecting the two ores necessary for progression, copper and zinc.
A multi-part series by OutcastZero
Current build (beta):
1.7.10
Grabbing 0.25.0? Due to many changes since 0.24.0, it may be necessary to break and replace steam-related blocks.

mDiyo posted a message on Tinkers Construct
This thread has moved to a new owner.
Suggestions should be directed to the suggestion thread.
Tinkers' Construct is a mod about putting tools together in a wide variety of ways, then modifying them until they turn into something else. The tools never disappear and can be named and changed to your heart's desire. Once you make them, they're yours forever. Any world generation included in the mod is more efficient, but not required to progress.
Like the mod and have a few coins to spare? Becoming a patron keeps adf.ly off of the download links and goes towards hosting or development of the mod. It also has some nifty rewards for supporting me!

Mod review by TheBeastCubed:
To get started you need a few tables and a place to put your patterns.
You build, modify, and repair tools like so.
1.2 brings a new multi-block structure for turning metals into liquids.
It can be automated with redstone and hoppers.
The mod also brings a few mobs to the game, like this fellow here.
Armor has started, but is very unfinished and would need to be done by the community. Here's your hints:
And that's all there is to it! There's a lot of depth in the system, and most things are documented in-game. Anything that isn't is left for you to explore.
FAQ
Q: My tool places torches/blocks on right-click, is this a bug?
A: This is intentional. And useful.
Q: I'm playing with Aether 2 or Galacticraft and I can't see the armor tab, help!
A: Press "O"
Q: What other mods does this support?
A: Anything with copper and bronze ingots can be turned into tools. XyCraft aluminum and TConstruct aluminum are equivalent, and IC2 has an electric modifier. Metallurgy is supported through an addon - check the downloads section.
There is specific compatibility built in for Minefactory Reloaded, Waila, Forge Multipart, and a few others.
Q: What mods are incompatible with this?
A: MultiMine prevents the broad area on Tier 2 tools from working. GregTech may not work at all. OptiFine and any bukkit envrionment (MCPC+, BukkitForge) aren't supported either.
Q: I have a bug with 1.5.2. Can you fix it?
A: Report 1.5.2 bugs here.
Q: I can't update because of other mods/modpacks!
A: This is a personal choice that we will not cater to. If you're going to use a modpack, you accept all responsibility for updating mods yourself, like you normally would. Likewise, not updating because other mods haven't updated does not mean we have to support you.
It's unfair to ask us to fix bugs that have already been fixed in later versions of Minecraft.
Q: I gave myself some tools from /give or NEI and it crashes!
A: You have given yourself a default tool with no data. The tool really needs the data. Pull one out of the creative menu or put the parts together normally.
Installation and Troubleshooting
First, make sure you've downloaded and installed Minecraft Forge. (alternate) TConstruct goes in the mods folder inside .minecraft or your server's mods folder.
If you're still having problems: run this Error Test and post the results on this thread.

I'm currently between jobs and having difficulty securing a new one (steady or otherwise), so I really don't have the luxury of continuing modding for a hobby, so let me ask you all something, fans of the mod, all 20k downloaders or so. Would it be entirely out of the question to request a donation from all of you? Even something as small as $1 a piece would greatly assist me financially, if for no other reason than the sheer bulk of people downloading. Heck even a quarter a pop comes to a considerable sum, well enough to pay off this months bills, food expenses, and chip away at my student loans a bit.
So, I'm asking, a cri de coeur if you will, if you love this mod and want to see it continued, please help me out <3

I got myself a website with a blog and forum, still in the works, but rest assured, I'll have something very nice in the future. Currently it hosts my wordpress blog (all 1 posts!) and will serve as a maven repo for those wishing to use CreepyPastaCraft as a library to build addons against, so expect fun things to happen in the future! Will also sport a very nice downloads page for this mod and any others that I may start/assume maintenance of

ALERT
If you want to help me out big time go bug MrCreepyPasta about the audio he promised me for this mod! I've a comment on the linked page, upvote it and make replies to it!
Greetings fellow minecrafters. Having recieved Phucks permission and blessing I have adopted his now out of date CreepyPastaCraft mod.
Disclaimer: I do disclaim thee, o liability! But seriously, don't come running to me if you get pwnd by Jeff or someone.
I'll only be maintaining this mod for the last two *minor* minecraft versions, and only the latest patch of those. Translation: Currently I'm only doing 1.7.10; when 1.8.0 forge comes out, I'll work on 1.7.10 and 1.8.0; when 1.8.1 comes out, I'll work on 1.7.10 and 1.8.1 (notice no 1.8.0). When 1.9.0 comes out, I'll only work on 1.8.x (latest) and 1.9.0, and so on so fourth. Sorry 1.6.4 and below guys, but modding is far better on these versions. Bug your favorite mod authors to update!
Installation instructions:
1. Install Forge for the appropriate version.
2. Place in .minecraft/mods
3. Get the crap scared outta you!
Known bugs:
You will occasionally recieve a an odd icon from the pc; it is a placeholder for the smile.jpg item, and to be fair I've included a temporary recipe to convert it into a smile.dog archive, just stick it on either your 2x2 crafting grid or a table and it can be crafted.
Hope all you folks got your diapers ready

zilulil posted a message on Obsidian Boat V1.3.2
Obsidian Boat is a Forge mod that adds obsidian boats to the game. They are fireproof and provide you with immunity to fire while you are in them and for a brief time after you leave them. They are not destroyed on collisions with anything so feel free to run them aground to make dismounting easier.
There is an option to change the recipe to a more expensive one requiring a diamond in the bottom center spot in the config file if you so wish.

MysteriousAges posted a message on Magic Bees: Magic themed bees for Forestry; The Successor to ThaumicBees
Magic Bees is an addon for Forestry that adds several new bee species with a magical theme. Breeding them will help you brew potions, or give you extra ways to make resources for other magic-themed mods such as Thaumcraft and Ars Magica.
Notice:
I am currently unable to maintain this mod, however, it appears that Arkandos has a working 1.7.10 (as of this writing) fork that is being maintained: https://bitbucket.org/Arkandos/magic-bees
I cannot guarantee that this version is bug-free or stable or anything like that, as I am not working on it myself. You'll have to go to him for that.
The original post follows, but information may be stale or otherwise out of date. Go go gadget posterity.
Setup
Magic Bees depends on Forestry, which is required. You may download Forestry on the Forestry Wiki.
Minecraft Forge is also needed to run Forestry. Magic Bees will usually work with whichever version of Forge Forestry requires.
To install, simply download the mod and place in the mods folder of your Minecraft instance.
Adding the following mods will result in additional features being unlocked:
- Extra Bees - Mutations to get the Thaumic Bees species will use Extra Bees species in some cases. If Thaumcraft is installed, TB will add aspects to Extra Bees items. You will also get access to Thaumic Bees alleles though the genetic machines.
- Thaumcraft 3 - Adds several tools related to Thaumcraft & Forestry, as well as adding Thaumcraft aspects to many Forestry items and blocks.
- Equivalent Exchange 3 - Adds the Minium Bee, which produces Minium Shards. More features to come in the future.
- Ars Magica - Adds 13 bee species that interact with Ars Magica, or produce AM items.
- Tinker's Construct - Adds 3 new bee species to help produce some of the higher tier metals. The Aluminum bee will also help with producing some lower-tier alloys as well.
- More to come as I get permission.
Downloads hosted on CurseForge:
Magic Bees CurseForge Project Page <-- Go visit! You know you want to.
In case I'm being a derp, also check the Magic Bees section on the Forestry forums for alternate download links. Also has older versions & changelogs when I'm not busy/feeling lazy.
If you get a note about a new version, but can't find it on either site, make sure to check the other, because I've probably forgotten to update one of them.
Migrating from ThaumicBees
There is one subtle change between TB and MB that you should be aware of. While TB's item IDs were shifted by 256 when loaded by Forge, Magic Bees compensates for this so the IDs in the config files are exactly what you find in-game. If you are concerned about losing items in the move to Magic Bees, I have written a guide to help you upgrade. Please note that this guide is written for advanced users in mind, so if editing configuration files intimidates you, you may want to ask a friend to help, or save yourself the trouble and just create a new world for Magic Bees and Forestry 2.2.6.0. (:
Magic Bees subforum
SirSengir has created a section on the Forestry Forums to discuss Magic bees specifically. I will be paying closer attention to those forums than this thread, since it is easier to keep track of multiple discussions there than it is to do here on a single thread.
Localization
Magic Bees supports localization for nearly all strings in the mod (except for scientific branch/bee names - those are always Latin. ). I have placed the localization files in a public repository, so if you want TB to support your particular language, you can create an XML file for it! If you want to help translate the mod into your own language, see the Localization project page on Github. Your jumping off point will be copying en_US.xml and modifying the text within each entry tag. Send the project a PR once you're finished, or if you have updated any other language file.
The Localization github is the correct place to send reports of incorrect translations. Do not submit bug reports to the localization github - they will be ignored.
Modpack Permissions & License Info
You are permitted to redistribute the original Magic Bees mod from the download links in both Public and Private server packs. My implicit permission is granted for all uses.
Magic Bees is not open source, but I am not going to stop anyone from decompiling it for educational or debugging purposes. I do not provide support for modified versions of the mod.
Problems?
If you encounter an issue while running Magic Bees, check the crash logs to see that Forestry started up correctly. For some reason, these errors may not appear in your Minecraft Crash report, you will have to check the full ForgeModLoader-client-0.log for other problems. The best way to do this is to open the file and search for the term "conflict". If you do not see any matches, then report the issue in this thread with the FML client log (NOT the short one that Minecraft gives you) and I will investigate. If it turns out that the problem is a simple issue with your client configuration (such as block conflicts) and you post it without taking 2 minutes to look yourself, be warned that I reserve the right to get very snarky with you, or ignore your post outright. Take the two minutes to check stuff yourself before you waste time posting here and waiting for me to waste time answering you. -

Shukaro posted a message on [1.6.X/1.7.X] Artifice - The correct term is ~mauve~ArtificePosted in: Minecraft Mods
Artifice adds worldgen, new blocks, and new items. (Remind me to come up with a wittier description)
Tooltips
All blocks and items added by Artifice have tooltips which show their function, and any other relevant information.
Recipes and Descriptions
Artifice adds several categories of items.
Frames
Frames are basic building blocks that are used as components in other recipes. They come in four tiers.
Blast-Resistant Blocks
These come in solid and transparent varieties, and they have connected textures.
Blast Walls
Glass Walls
Scaffolds
Scaffolds are cheap blocks that can be quickly stacked and climbed, very useful for construction. Left click on a scaffold with a scaffold to stack upwards, right click to place normally. You can build out to the max overhang of each tier in any given direction.
Sledges
Sledges are tools used to smash crafted blocks down into pieces, with a chance to lose different pieces. They have a quarter of the durability of normal tools, and they can also be used from dispensers.
Boxes
Boxes are storage items that allow you to store up to 8 of any item per box. They stack, and they fully support NBT data. Right click to open a box, shift-right click to open a whole stack. Dispensers can use boxes.
Flowers
Four varieties of flowers are added which can be crafted into blue, black, brown, and white dyes in the same manner as red and yellow flowers. A recipe for green dye from yellow and blue is also added. Lotuses will open and close in response to light levels as a bonus.
Lotus lilies are also added, which are similar to vanilla lilypads, and have no related recipes.
Basalt & Marble
Basalt and marble generate in the world, with a variety of generation setting that can be configured. There are a variety of decorative blocks which can be crafted from basalt and marble, including bricks, stairs, and slabs. All blocks are crafted in the same way as their vanilla counterparts.
Pavers
Pavers come in two varieties, Paver and Antipaver. Each will connect to themselves, but they won't connect to the other, allowing for some interesting patterns. Pavers and Antipavers can be interchanged freely in the crafting grid.
Gallery
Sickles
Sickles are tools which harvest plants or leaves in a radius around the harvest point. They have one half the durability of normal tools.
Miscellaneous
Detectors will send out a pulse any time a block adjacent to them is updated.
Artifice adds steel, which is used in crafting the top tier frames and other items. An alternate steel recipe is available via the config.
Coins
Artifice add copper, silver, gold, and platinum coins, which are mostly for use by server owners.
Upgrades
Upgrades are consumable items which can be crafted with tools, weapons, or armor to apply mundane enchants. By default these are limited in strength. They also obey enchantment application rules, so you can't apply multiple types of protection to one item, respiration on shoes, or anything like that. You can apply as many upgrades as will fit in the crafting grid at a time, for the sake of convenience.
World Regeneration
All worldgen added by Artifice can be retroactively added into a world, if necessary. Check the configs.
Mod Compatibility
Artifice has support for a number of other mods, the most important of which being the ability to transmute basalt and marble from cobblestone using EE3.
Configuration
I make every effort to provide configuration options for every feature, and to that end, all features can be independently enabled and disabled.

"Help! It doesn't work!"
If you encounter any issues the very first thing you need to do is update to the latest stable version. Very often issues are fixed quickly, and a simple update will solve your problem. If updating doesn't work, then you need to provide a detailed post about what, exactly is going wrong. If there is a crash involved you must provide a full log of the crash.
Other Stuff
License
This mod is distributed freely for non-commercial use. You are free to include it in any modpack without needing to ask permission (I'd certainly love to hear about it though!), as long as you give proper credit. You are also free to produce ports. A link back to this thread would be nice when redistributing, to keep things neat and clean.
Source
Here's the repository I use to develop Artifice. I encourage you to check it out if you're curious about the code or bugfixes or whatnot. I always appreciate pull requests to fix bugs or improve code. Of course, I don't appreciate code being nabbed wholesale without credit, just ask if you aren't sure.
Builds
I make use of a Jenkins system to automatically build my stuff, and it can be found here. If they aren't marked as stable, they will probably do bad things to your world, so please do not include non-stable builds in modpacks, I don't want to hear about how you killed your world by ignoring this.
Todo
If you're curious about what might be coming in the future, I like to keep a list of ideas here, in no particular order and with no guarantees.
Contact
If you would like to get in touch, the best place is this thread. You can also PM me about server-specific or otherwise unique queries, but I can't guarantee I'll respond to others. I'm also often available on the Espernet and Synirc IRC servers as Shukaro, as well as on Twitter as @Shukaro, if you'd like to shoot me a message there.

Some people have wanted this, so here you go, in case you're feeling especially generous.

Mr_Crayfish posted a message on MrCrayfish's Construction Mod v1.1 - A.O.E. Inspired Construction! Huge Update Beta Release!
You've seen those instant buildings mods, right click the block and it generates a structure. I've always thought that they could be so much more better. Well I've decided to try my take on it and create something that is completely unique from the rest. Today I introduce to you my Construction Mod! How is this unique from the others? I will elaborate.
In this mod, there are 4 main items/blocks which are involved of the creation of a structure.
The BlueprintA Blueprint is the key to making any structure as it holds the plans on it. I decided this would be a great thing to implement as I wanted to get that real life feel of when constructing a building. The Blueprint can hold any plans you want. (Read Custom Buildings).
Planning TableYou can can't fly a plane without training, same with building, you can't build a structure without a plan. This is where the Planning Table comes in. The Planning Table draws the designs onto the Blueprint at the cost of a certain amount of Ink. The bigger the structure, the more Ink that is required.
Construction BlockI needed a way to translate the plans from the Blueprint to tell me the materials needed. The Construction Block can do that. It will display every required block/item needed to generate the structure. Once you have them, you can proceed to construct your building by placing the required blocks/items into the slots provided. Press the start button to begin the construction process.
The HammerThis is where I have been inspired from Age of Empires (A.O.E.). Once you have the required materials placed into the Construction Block and you have pressed the Start button, you will need to get a Hammer. You begin the construction process by hitting the Hammer on the Construction Block. Now this is where it gets very unique! Every 10 hits on the Construction Block, it will generate 1 layer starting from the bottom until you get to the top. I really liked this idea and it really sets it apart from every instant/construction mods out there.
Sorry for my mini essay but I wanted to tell you guys why this isn't your typical instant building mod. If you read this, thank you +1 me.

I have the problem a lot of the time with mods introducing new ores. Sure, they generate fine but Sometimes i have two or more mods that generate their OWN ore, so I have say three different copper ores and they don't always work right with each other. Granted I could turn of world gen for certain mods but then i may not have access to a compatible metal. Example the Buildcraft or TConstruct Copper ores might not work at all with Metallurgy 3. (example, partially hypothetical)
So MY proposal is that someone could make a mod that searches for any ore block that ID's as Copper, Tin, Aluminum, and any/all commonly introduced ores. It will then REPLACE these blocks with it's OWN, and make the coding open for other modders to use. So Forestry and other mods that introduce Copper will not generate their own, but can use this new default Copper instead.
I think it's a simple fix and really worth the time to code. It'd be popular enough, trust me haha That and it'd make a lot more mods compatible so everyone can enjoy them together better.
Feel free to use this idea as you please! Even use adf.ly i dont really care, just let me know if someone makes/has made it!
Thanks yo

Villagers would be Matoran as I guess you've PROBABLY thought of, Kardas should be the Ender Dragon, I'd like to see the brotherhood of Makuta as a mob, possibly Endermen? I think Zombies would be cool as Toa possesed by Krana, and Zombie Pigmen as Skrall. The glowing eyes have a spooky potential. And I'm not sure what you have in the way of animal mobs but there's definitely enough Rahi to help with that. Personally I think that the nether would be really cool as Bara Magna, being a separate dimension and all. Nether Brick Fortresses could be Mata Nui's body parts embedded in the sand! Having Dark Hunters would also be an awesome feature, but I'm not sure where you could squeeze those in. Kalmah's face would make a hilarious yet still respectable squid. Hope to see your finished project, it'll DEFINITEly be my main pack!
