Confirmed working with Minecraft 1.12

Welcome to my tutorial on how to colour and format your servers MOTD! If you're here, then you have probably tried to do a MOTD such as "&5Vauff's Awesome Server!". Sadly though, it would have shown up like this.



Let's try to fix this shall we? First we're going to need to get rid of the &5 and make the MOTD "Vauff's Awesome Server!" again. Before we more in depth to tutorial lets go over the colour and formatting codes again.

&1 - DARK BLUE
&2 - DARK GREEN

Now, in order to get our MOTD coloured or formatted we need to put \u00A7 instead of the &. So something like &5 would turn into \u00A75. The full list of these is listed below.

\u00A74 - DARK RED
\u00A75 - DARK PURPLE

You would also be able to use § in replacement of the & instead of \u00A7 if you choose to do so.

After replacing the &5 in my MOTD with \u00A75 my MOTD now looks like this.

5 years as a member today (still 28 more minutes!). It really doesn't feel like that long ago, but at the same time it somehow does. 3 years as a moderator will be in 2 weeks on the 13th.

We've decided to upload the world from the server! This is from the latest backup that we have of the BreakIn' Bad Minecraft server. We did not want to give this out initially but have decided that it is now a good time to do it, since players have mostly moved on. This backup was taken on August 29th, 2015 while BreakIn' Bad closed on October 8th, 2015. This obviously isn't ideal and is the same reason we had to close the server, but we hope you can enjoy this nostalgic experience anyways.

To use this in your Minecraft client, please copy the world (main world) and creative (creative world) folders to your .minecraft/saves/ folder. Both these worlds were used in Minecraft 1.7.10 using SecurityCraft 1.7.4.1. While it is recommended you use those versions, Minecraft 1.8 and SecurityCraft 1.8 should work too. However, compatibility can not be guaranteed. Cheats have been enabled for both worlds for ease of use.

Please take note of the warps.txt file also included, this file includes the old warp names and coordinates of the warps. You can use these to navigate to different areas in the server you'd like to go to. They are sorted into categories based on the world You can use the tp command as so. /tpx y z (e.g. /tp -240 65 414 for south warp).

EDIT: IMPORTANT!!! If you get an issue where upon opening the world in SecurityCraft 1.8 the world loading hangs, you just have to wait for it to load! This happens because Forge detects a changed item in the new version and then tries to make a backup of the world. Thing is, this world is 4.5 gigabytes when uncompressed. So this results in having to wait a long time for the backup to be made and the world loaded. This will only happen once on the first loading.

See this page, you'll either want to give them commandsigns.use.regular or commandsigns.use.super depending on what type of signs you want them to be able to use.

I can be an admin. I can also be a half dev as i am really good with plugins, permissions and more. I just cant make plugins from scratch.

Editing has been temporarily disabled editing for members with under 5 posts as of yesterday because of the recent spam in Minecraft Discussion using an editing tactic to bypass the spam filter. It should be re-enabled once we have a more permanent solution to stop it.

You should contact Curse Support for help with that. However, it looks like you already recovered the account considering it was last active an hour ago, is that correct?

It's not the best for a public server, but if you're just hosting it for friends and family then you'll be completely safe. Even if making it public, there is still a very small chance of anything going wrong. So you'll be completely fine if its a private server.

I was able to block it in uBlock using the filter "www.minecraftforum.net###ServerAd". You and your friends could try using that.

Do you know the moments, where you only have spruce wood but need some acacia wood desperately? Did you craft too much planks and need logs, but don't have any trees nearby? Then this mod is for YOU! With the WoodConverter mod you can convert all your wood, leaves and more into their other types! You can also craft stairs, slabs and more back into planks, and those back into logs!

All of the following recipes can be applied to any of the shown block types (i.e. the plank recipe works the same for all plank types). The converting order is as followed: Oak -> Spruce -> Birch -> Jungle -> Acacia -> Dark Oak -> Oak

The following recipes are shapeless, which means that you can place the shown items in any order into your workbench. They also apply for all other wood types.

Other features:

• Starting from v2.6_3, WoodConverter will check for updates each first time a world is loaded after the game was started. You will be informed in the chat, whether there is an update available or not. As of v2.7, you can configure this feature in the config file. Introduced in v2.8_2, VersionChecker takes over the job of my custom written UpdateChecker. I highly suggest that you use VersionChecker as it's probably supported by many of other mods you installed, and helps you to keep them up to date!
• Starting from v2.10, you can disable recipes in the configuration file.

Forge installation instructions:

• Download the latest installer of Forge
• Download Wood Converter
• Make sure you ran the corresponding Minecraft version at least once
• Right click on the Forge file -> open with -> Java(TM) Platform SE binary
• Select search and go to your .minecraft directory (default is %appdata%/.minecraft) and hit "Install Client"
• Click ok as soon as it's done
• Drag the Wood Converter file into your .minecraft/mods folder. If that folder doesn't exist, create it.
• Close everything, start Minecraft and enjoy!

Optionally, you can install VersionChecker which gives you a notification on Minecraft's main menu if there's a new update available. No more annoying chat messages (This means you can safely delete the WoodConverter configuration file)

Old ModLoader versions:

• A block where you can select and change your wood directly into your wanted wood type and craft it back (In the works, follow development here.)
• Mod support (for now, only Biomes o' Plenty and Extra Biomes XL), will get added as soon as the block aforementioned is in the mod.

• (Below v2.8_2 only, won't fix) The Minecraft Client crashes, when there's no internet connection and a world is first joined.

It's been such a long time since I've checked this place out! So many old faces, and also a lot of new ones x)

For those who haven't met me, or just don't remember, I was 15 when I joined as a moderator for the mapping and modding section in late 2013. I retired in late 2016, almost on the same day I joined! I retired for a few reasons, the biggest being the trouble of balancing life, school, all my mods, and moderating.

A surprising amount has happened in the year or so since I retired. I've launched roughly 25 new mods on CurseForge, and it has basically become my full time job. I've also helped build MCModDev (MMD) Discord server, which currently has over 1700 members. A lot of my work with MMD overlaps what I regularly do with mod development, so It's surprisingly not as big of a time drain as I thought it would be, although it has it's rough spots.

The biggest change of all though, is probably Jared. Him and I started dating seven months ago. I normally don't do long term or serious relationships, in fact this is my first one. So it's all new and weird lol. He's a modder like me, he maintains CraftTweaker and ModTweaker mostly, but also does a bunch of misc stuff. He was once pretty active on here so some of you may know him, wouldn't surprise me if he had an infraction or two ;p

The problem is that this forum is not as popular as it once was, participation on this forum from players of Minecraft on PC is at an all time low, the other platforms, like Pocket Edition, are very popular. PC remains the dominant platform here, which is why PC Discussion is first and PC Mapping and Modding remains second, however the ancillary sections like PC Servers are far less popular than platforms like Pocket Edition, meaning to put PC Servers (or clans) at the top we would need to prioritise PC sections over what our users actually want, which isn't a good user experience.

Although this forum started out primarily focused on the PC version of Minecraft it was because the game was only available on PC, not because we held the belief that PC was the superior platform, we are a Minecraft forum and Minecraft is available on many platforms, we do not have any allegiance to a specific platform, we will deliver the most helpful forum for all Minecraft players.

I am open to ideas about improving the section but they can't revolve around moving the section to a more prominent spot on the forum, as that would be unfair to players of other platforms and I don't think it would necessarily have much of an impact on the sections popularity. Separating "true" clans from gaming teams is a good idea, we can definitely look at adding a sub forum for that, or perhaps moving YouTube based gaming teams to a different section, like Show Your Creation.

Due to the way Minecraft has evolved over the years the forum isn't as popular as it once was, so it was inevitable that this would be reflected in every part of the forum. We're still a very popular forum, with over 6 million unique visitors every month, and these are millions of people looking for new interesting ways to play Minecraft, but they're not looking to make a huge commitment off of the back of a forum post... and the clans strategies here appear to be just that: write an interesting post and hope people make a commitment to the clan.

My opinion is that threads in the section should be the place where clans define, discuss and plan, they shouldn't be the primary method of recruitment. Most people don't know they want to join a clan.

If you want to recruit Minecraft players you need to focus on playing Minecraft.

That said, I'm not an expert on Minecraft clans, if I've made any mistakes in my assumptions here please let me know. I'm happy to look at ways to help clans here (because your success is our success) but there's only so much we can do. The focus needs to be on what we can do to best support clans on the forum, not what we can do to help recruitment, because I don't believe there is much. Suggestions on what we can do in the section are very much welcome: we can institute a no drama rule and remove posts that engage in drama (as we do in some other sections, Server Hosts has strong rules against drama that are strictly enforced (thread owners can't post in others threads for example)).
