Nothing to mine with? Stone picks. How to get lots of cobble without eating the world? Cobble generator. Need wood? Tree farm. Those huge oak trees give LOTS of saplings. Preventing starvation? Large scale wheat farm. I don't mean to sound rude here, but i've even done a lot of this stuff when I make a huge underwater base. I almost never leave it since I have everything that i'll ever need for anything EVER. You don't need animals when you have endless ammounts of bread, mushroom stew and apples.
I guess these players just never saw any of the skyblocks maps because those are the prime example of working with limited (aka next to no) resources to speak of.
I haven't been able to see a weapons shop yet... how common are they?
also, i still haven't found a village even though i saw that the settings were on for villages to spawn. Also, though villages don't spawn, minechafts do. I check the entire map area too.
well I've started over with my modding but something i've noticed is that permafrost isn't automatically surronded by iced stone like it was in the older versions. also, since i spawn in the scrab tools (just to save time and effort) I've noticed that a scrab shovel takes as long to destroy permafrost as your fists or any other tool. a bug perhaps?
I haven't checked if there's a new version but in the one I have, i literally just hatched some stegosaurs and they practically exploded in size. all four of them have become at least 8 times as big as me in a matter of seconds without using essence of chicken. Am I just using an old version?
then what's the point of having the mosasaurs? Also, how would you tame it? If you just want an underwater mount, the elasmosaurs is right there for ya. there'd just be no point to having it really. Alternativly, you could make an underwater base and have a tunnel leading up to the shore from the water.
Some more bug reports with raptors this time around
Raptor AI needs improvement. they attacked sevral of my own tamed wolves resulting in the two i hatched in my house dying. the raptors, not the puppies.
A raptor got stuck under my house and wouldn't obay my orders even if i said for it to follow me out. It wouldn't grow either since it was in such a tight space so I had to put it down.
Raptors seem to take off after hatching even if you have an order drum set to follow. Also, they're very hard to spot when they're young.
A raptor had 11/20 health but wasn't eating the pork chops if I left clicked on it. They also didn't dissapear from my inventory.
What item is needed to control a specific raptor not using the order drum? Bare hands SOMETIMES works, but not often.
T-rexes don't run way when young or attack you when old. they have the red eyes but don't do anything.
Cultivators seem to fail more frequently
a friendly Rex would up killing me after dismount, but still remained friendly
DNA fragments seem to be generated less frequently now in favour of bone meal and ferns in that order.
broken anchient swords can still be generated from scanning relic scraps. Intentional or...? And if not intentional, can this also create broken helmets?
Scarab shovels don't break permafrost any faster then bare hands.
As for reccomendations for the next update...
Scarab Bow: Why not? They can be enchanted now.
Ancient War Axe: Similar to the sword, only it can do the job of a sword and an axe.
Fossil mod isn't interacting with the Too many items mod and just crashes after the mojang logo. Please help! I downloaded the new forge, the newest of audiomod, modloader, resources, fossil mod, and too many items.
Don't forget about some of the aquatic monsters from before the Mezazoic.
Dunkleosteus for instence. Might not be as big as mosesaurs, but it could give it a run for its money in terms of sheer offensive power.
Lipleurodon is another good candatate since it's so massive and likely just as wild. Better yet, make a tamable version of one of those sea monsters. A sea based T-rex.
as a passive mob there's Leedsichthys. absolutly giant fish from what i understand and would be harmless, if slightly destructive to underwater glass homes. Something that big hitting it would probbaly wreck it.
Trilobites. I would love to see some of these things in the mod. Possibly like silverfish maybe. Hiding in sand/dirt blocks and popping out and attacking if the player disturbs them.
Opabinia and it's family might also make for good biodiversity. Plus those things are too cool/freaky looking to be ignored.
Course that's just my suggestion sicne the seas seem a little barren of life.
Also, can you breed dinosaurs or is it strictly just cultivating/hatching more?
I wouldn't mind Herrarasaurs. Since 90% of all the dinosaurs and other critters in this mod seem to be from the cretacious period, i'd like a Triassic dinosaur.
Also, when I went to download the Too Many Items mod, I didn't get the fossils mod... though that could have been because I didn't update Minecraft at that time yet. the downside is that now I can't try it out anymore since I updated everything.
As for a bugfix I can reccomend from what I saw, my triceretops were't eating. I'm not sure why, but they weren't eating the ferns or going to the feeder. In fact, they were just standing around doing nothing. and they weren't stuck either, they could move when i got onto them.
As for other little things, I would say that all dinosaurs should have more health. The Triceretops has the same ammount you do when they should have at least twice that.
also, the dinosaurs seem to just stop once they grow fully. at least for triceretpos and stegosaurs. I also don't know if this was intentional or not, but the triceretops is friggen LOUD. even as a baby.

liopleurodon
Tamable mosasaurs basically
Opabinia
mostly just to look cool. possibly acting like silverfish. Trilibites can also be used for this.
Maiasaura
just to have some big dinosaur that's mostly harmless. And possibly make you go "d'awwwwww!" when you see the babies.
Megalosaurus
First dinosaur discovered. Even though the rex is already in the game, this HAS to count for something.
Rename veliceratpros. They're officially called Deinonychus. Veliceraptors in real life were only the size of a poodle and about as mean as those.
Herrerasaurus
One of the very first dinosaurs. Kind of like raptors I would imagine for gameplay wise but solitary and they'd attack eachother if hungry.
