posted a message on FarLands - Bringing back the Far Lands! [2900+ downloads]

Notice: Some websites appear to be redistributing some of my mods. I did not authorize them to do so. The only official copies of this mod are the ones I link to in this thread.

The download server is back online.

Other copies are not authorized and should not be downloaded since some of these sites that redistribute mods are known to put malware in with their "downloads". However, you can be sure that the downloads here are safe.

FarLands has been updated to 1.0.1 for Minecraft 1.7.10!

FarLands has reached 250 downloads! Thanks for trying my mod, comment if you like it (or if you don't)!

FarLands is on GitHub! The repository is at https://github.com/Valiec/FarLands

Do you want the Far Lands in Minecraft without downgrading to Beta 1.7.3? If so, this is the mod for you!

This mod brings back the Far Lands, which were present in the default game until Beta 1.8. However, this mod does more than just bring them back. It also allows you to configure the distance at which they start, so that they are reachable without travelling 12,550,820 blocks.

    1.0.0:

    Added Far Lands.

Added config option to set Far Lands start distance.

    1.0.1:

Made Far Lands world type control Far Lands generation in all dimensions.

Fixed readme calling the mod "EndPlus" in the .jar and .zip file names.

    The Far Lands:

    1) Install Minecraft Forge (I developed the mod with 10.13.4.1448, so it should work) 2) Run Minecraft to create a mods folder 3) Place the FarLands-1.0.1-mc-1.7.10.jar file into your mods folder inside your minecraft folder

Note: The mod connects to a server every time you open a world in order to check its version.

The URL the version checker polls also increments a counter every time it is requested, giving me a rudimentary play counter. Note that there is no player data sent: it is purely a count of how many times that URL has been requested.

Download FarLands 1.0.1 For Minecraft 1.7.10

Public Modpack Rules (you have to follow these if you put my mod into your modpack)

    • Credit me (Valiec2019) as being the mod's developer.

    • Provide a link to this thread.

    • If you are doing something that will allow you to make any money off of your modpack (e.g. using adf.ly), whether or not you have been or are about to be actually paid (e.g. adf.ly doesn't pay until you have a lot of downloads I think) ask permission about doing it first and wait for a response before implementing it (you can distribute the modpack without the possibility of making money from it until you get permission or if you don't get permission however).

Note: Donations don't count as "making money", as long as they are completely optional and do not affect the modpack in any way (donations affecting gameplay is an absolute no, ask me if it affects cosmetic stuff).

Another note: You do not need explicit permission if you aren't making money, but still please PM me (if you really don't want to, you don't have to) to tell me that you are using my mod (I just am curious what modpacks it's in), but in this case (just a notice, not a permission request), you do not have to wait for a response before distributing the pack.

Private modpack rules are the same, except you don't need to PM me if you aren't making money off it (though it would still be nice if it's used by a lot of people on a large server).

Modpack rules only apply if you actually distribute the pack with FarLands in it. Just clarifying in case I accidentally scared anyone off there by making them think these rules apply just because you are running FarLands with other mods or adding it to your personal copy of a modpack you play.

posted a message on EndPlus 1.7.0 Nether and End Improvements [3000+ downloads]

EndPlus has been updated to 1.7.0 for Minecraft 1.7.10!

EndPlus has reached 3000+ downloads! Thanks for trying my mod, comment if you like it (or if you don't)!

EndPlus was released 2 years ago at 8:01 AM on November 28, 2013!

The mod reached 1000 downloads at 2:18:59 AM server time on November 15, 2014.

EndPlus is now on GitHub! The repository is at https://github.com/Valiec/EndPlus

Information about this mod also available at http://kpabr.com/mcmods/endplus.

Ever thought that the End was a bit empty, or that the Nether needed something more?
Well, then this might just be the mod you want.

EndPlus adds new ores, tools, armor and more to the Nether and End dimensions. These ores are Flamerite in the Nether, and Enderite in the End. You can craft Gold and Flamerite together to make Flamerite-Gold. Flamerite-Gold tools and armor have automatic random enchantments. Enderite and Flamerite also have their own tool and armor sets. The End can also generate infinitely, and small patches of Ender Dirt with Ender Wart growing in them can generate in The End. The End terrain is also changed, with bluish Ender Grass and Ender Trees growing around the End. The Nether is now layered, with Soul Dirt on the surface, wild Nether Wart, and Umbrite Ore in the upper layer, and Netherrack on the surface and Flamerite Ore in the lower layer. The terrain of the Nether, except for the ground and ceiling, is made of Nether Stone. Essence blocks generate underground in each dimension. They are currently just decorative. The End also now has a day-night cycle like the Overworld, but no sun visible in the sky.

Quest Villagers can be found when the population of a village naturally increases, or gotten through Mob Spawners and Spawn Eggs, but they do not spawn naturally with the world. They give the player quests to find a structure containing a certain Quest Block and bring the block back to the villager for a reward. An item known as the Quest Compass points to the correct structure for the most recently activated quest.

There is a biome in the Overworld called the Enchanted Hills biome. It includes yellowish-gold colored grass and leaves. However, these are not normal grass and leaves. Normal grass and leaves in this biome will still be the colors you expect. These are Enchanted Grass and Enchanted Oak and Enchanted Birch leaves. Underground, a new ore known as Golderald spawns. Golderald can be used in making the Golderald Wand.

Ender Redstone Ore generates in the End. It can be used to make things like wireless redstone, block breakers, and block placers. However, the wireless redstone still requires a line of sight between the emitter and receiver.

Mob spawners, spawn eggs, and monster egg blocks are now craftable using a new ore found in the Nether called Umbrite. The Granite from the 1.8 snapshots has also been added to the Overworld, with the textures from the snapshots, but with different generation. Also, Granite can only be mined with a stone pickaxe, rather than any pickaxe like in the snapshots. Cavernstone had also been added to the Overworld. It can rarely drop valuable items, but can also spawn Cave Spiders. Special Ender Blocks can be crafted with Obsidian and either an Ender Pearl or an Eye of Ender.

But such powerful ores are not left unguarded. In the End, a mob, called the Dragonfire, can spawn and is always hostile. It drops an Eye of Ender.

Combining Nether Quartz with a Gold Nugget gives you Infused Quartz. It can be made into tools with the durability and strength of iron, and the speed of gold. It can also be made into an armor set with a strength between iron and diamond.

There also is a new food, Ender wart. It must be grown on Ender Dirt. Once full-grown, it can be harvested like any other crop. The item given, Ender Wart, can be cooked to make Cooked Ender Wart, which makes it more useful.
There is also a flower called Shadowbloom in the End. It is purely decorative for now.

Additionally, there is a structure made of Enderwood and Enchanted Ender Obsidian with a chest inside that generates in the End.

Tools are crafted as normal with sticks and resources.
    Armor is crafted as normal.

    1) Install Minecraft Forge (I developed the mod with 10.13.0.1177, so it is guaranteed to work)
    2) Run Minecraft to create a mods folder
    3) Place the EndPlus-1.7.0-mc-1.7.10.jar file into your mods folder inside your minecraft folder

Note: The mod connects to a server every time you open a world in order to check its version.

The URL the version checker polls also increments a counter every time it is requested, giving me a rudimentary play counter. Note that there is no player data sent: it is purely a count of how many times that URL has been requested.

Public Modpack Rules (you have to follow these if you put my mod into your modpack)

    • Credit me (Valiec2019) as being the mod's developer.

    • Provide a link to this thread. You can use either the actual URL of the forum thread or the tinyurl I have created (tinyurl.com/EndPlus).

Modpack suggestions (you don't have to follow these, but in most cases it would improve the gameplay, but if you want to, ignore these)

    • Don't completely override the Nether or End worldgen.

    • Make sure the End stays infinite.

    • Don't break Vertical Pseudobiomes (The vertical terrain variation thing in the Nether).

    • If you remove a crafting recipe because you want someone to find an item in the world (e.g. in loot chests like in Phicksur's Explorer's Modpack), make sure it can actually be found in said chests. If you made it uncraftable because you want the item to be inaccessible, leave it inaccessible. Thanks for getting me to think of this, Phicksur!

Modpack rules only apply if you actually distribute the pack with EndPlus in it. Just clarifying in case I accidentally scared anyone off there by making them think these rules apply just because you are running EndPlus with other mods or adding it to your personal copy of a modpack you play.

There used to be legends. Legends of places below the previously conceived bottom of the Overworld. Some said that the Bedrock was the end of the line, while others said that it was just a barrier protecting us from what lies below. -DesinitDraco

Ever wanted to explore below the Bedrock? Do pits 200 blocks deep, mazes of caverns, and compressed ores sound interesting to you? If so, you may want to take a look at this mod!

This mod is based on the Deeper Caves suggestion by kittykattykat here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/suggestions/2311624-deeper-caves-caves-going-more-than-2-kilometers

At this point, there are Drop, Maze, Crystal, Compressed, Bedrock Plains, Near Nether, Near Void, Deep World, Darkness, Abandoned Caves, Far Void, Evil, and Final Labyrinth levels. All ore blocks on those levels have been added. However, Ametrine also does not have the mob-attracting effect.

This is the second attempt to make this mod. Before I tried, another user named Koopinatorthegreatest tried to do this. However, after having lots of issues (and using MCreator), he abandoned the project. I took over and began to work on this mod.

Discussion regarding the mod has begun to clog up the suggestion thread. This thread's purpose is to separate discussion about my attempt to make this mod from the suggestion-related discussion.

    More coming soon!

    1) Install Minecraft Forge (I developed the mod with 10.13.2.1291, so it is guaranteed to work) 2) Run Minecraft to create a mods folder 3) Place the DeeperCaves-0.4.1-mc-1.7.10.jar file into your mods folder inside your minecraft folder

Note: The mod connects to a server every time you open a world in order to check its version.

The URL the version checker polls also increments a counter every time it is requested, giving me a rudimentary play counter. Note that there is no player data sent: it is purely a count of how many times that URL has been requested.

Note: because of the high amount of liquids in the Drop level, add this to your JVM args: -Xss1024K"

Modpack suggestions (you don't have to follow these, but in most cases it would improve the gameplay, but if you want to, ignore these)

Modpack rules only apply if you actually distribute the pack with Deeper Caves in it. Just clarifying in case I accidentally scared anyone off there by making them think these rules apply just because you are running Deeper Caves with other mods or adding it to your personal copy of a modpack you play.

Player "Valiec2019" has just unlocked a new achievement: "Awesome Update Released!"

Thank you for modding the game!

No seriously man, thanks for the update!

I've got just one question for you: is there any way to disable levels? Like for example, make it so that when you dig to the bottom of the Drop level, you pop up into the Crystal level skipping the Maze?

I'm asking this because having all the levels is really cool, but it puts a lot of strain on my laptop...

Thanks for the suggestion! This will be in the next update (which won't take as long as the last one), which will primarily be tweaks and bug fixes.

I wonder when next release will happen...

    Quote from Ammonyte»

You must keep calm and have faith, friend. Our hero Valiec would never let an awesome mod like this fall into disrepair, not without telling us at least.

Sorry for the delay! There should be a small update relatively soon. After that. there will a bigger content update. Combined, they should have (excluding bug fixes): new blocks, ametrine-plated armor, some improvements to cave villages, and possibly more (if I think of more to add).

He definitely has little time... if only he had someone else contributing to the mod's code... that would be great.

If you want to contribute, you can! Just submit a pull request.

Having played this mod for 1.7.10, and Cubic Chunks mod for MC Beta, I'm convinced that this would make a great (underground) terrain generation addon for Cubic Chunks. Too bad it'll never happen because it's an old(er) version. (Anyone doesn't like that, support Barteks2x's CC mod for 1.10/1.11.)

I have heard this idea before, and I like it too, but as you say, there is no finished Cubic Chunks version new enough.

My game is not crashing but I'm experiencing a very nasty 1 fps lag after I go to the first level of deeper caves.

What are your render distance and fast/fancy graphics set at? Try reducing these settings.

posted a message on Weird netherrack symbol

This is simply a result of the randomly rotated block textures for Netherrack. One corner of the Netherrack texture, which looks normal by itself, forms 1/4 of the symbol. If four adjacent blocks have their textures rotated so that their copies of the same corner are adjacent to each other, you get that symbol.

posted a message on Why do Zombie Pigmen keep coming through our Nether Portal?

Unfortunately, they aren't actually coming through the portal, but instead being spawned by the portal, so blocking off the Nether side of the portal doesn't work. See http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Zombie_Pigman#Nether_portals for more info. I don't think this spawning is affected by light level, but only active portals do this, so you can deal with this by activating and deactivating your portal as needed (this can be automated with a redstone mechanism).

Regarding this redstone mechanism, you'll need to have two dispensers facing into the portal: one with a water bucket (to deactivate the portal) and one with flint and steel (to activate it). To control the portal, you just need to trigger the correct dispenser at the correct time. The simplest design just has the dispensers connected to two buttons: push one of them to activate the portal and push the other twice (to get it to pick up the water again) to deactivate it. It also has pressure plates just outside the portal to keep the water from pouring out.

posted a message on [Utility] The StopModReposts! Mod

This mod was created to help support the StopModReposts effort. To learn more go to the StopModReposts main thread here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/mods-discussion/2314237-list-of-sites-stealing-minecraft-content (or just click the StopModReposts banner in my signature).

The download server is back online.

Notice: Some websites appear to be redistributing some of my mods, however, this one has not appeared on any yet. The only official copies of this mod are the ones I link to in this thread.

Other copies are not authorized and should not be downloaded since some of these sites that redistribute mods are known to put malware in with their "downloads". However, you can be sure that the downloads here are safe.

StopModReposts has been updated to 1.1.0 for Minecraft 1.7.10!

Thanks for trying my mod, comment if you like it (or if you don't)!

StopModReposts is on GitHub! The repository is at https://github.com/Valiec/StopModReposts

Have you ever wanted a utility that will display a message to users of your mod that have downloaded it from a site that doesn't have permission to distribute it telling them to get it from the official site (without stopping them from playing)? Well, that's exactly what this mod does.

    About the mod:

This mod is a utility/library mod which, when another mod lists it as a dependency, checks that mod jar against a blacklist of jars that have been redistributed without permission. If that mod is on the blacklist, it displays a warning message.

You can turn off the message for a specific mod if you want by running the command "/smrignore [modid]".

Note: This mod contacts a server to validate mods when they call its validateMod method. This is the mod's core functionality. It sends the modid and jar id of the mod that called the method to the server to check if they are on the blacklist. It does not send any other info to the server.

    Origin of idea:

The basic idea was first posted (that I can find) by Cuchaz on December 30, 2014. Cuchaz says that he heard the idea from a user called Asie, but I cannot find Asie's post on it. Recently, I thought of a similar idea, and soon after that, turned up Cuchaz's posts. Since no one had implemented the idea, I decided to do so.

    Detailed Explanation of Mod Functionality:

When a mod is found that lists it as a dependency, it performs these steps to validate the mod:

    1) It calls its validateMod method with the modid of the mod that listed it as a dependency as an argument.

    2) The method looks inside the mcmod.info for a jar ID prefixed with "///StopModReposts///". It calls a private helper method with both this and the modid as arguments.

    3) The private helper method contacts a server at "kpabr.com/mcmods/stopmodreposts/(modid)/(jar id)" to check if the mod is on the blacklist. The server returns either the string "true" or the string "false". This is converted into a boolean value saying whether the mod is on the blacklist. The helper method returns this.

    3) If the mod is on the blacklist, the modid is added to an ArrayList listing the modids of all installed mods on the blacklist that have been validated (which is only the ones that call the validateMod method; it does not validate mods that do not call that method).

    4) On loading a world, if there are any modids in the ArrayList, it will display a warning message in the chat listing the modids.

    Notes:

Note: The mod contacts a server multiple times at startup to validate mods (once per mod it validates).

Note 2: The mod only validates mods that request it do so by calling its validateMod method.

Note 3: The only thing this mod does on detecting a blacklisted mod is display the message. It does not disrupt gameplay in any way.

    Instructions for use (for modders):

To validate your mod, follow these steps:

    1) Add 'dependencies = "required-after:stopmodreposts"' to your @Mod annotation.

    2) That's it!

    Instructions for Installation (for users):

    1) Install Minecraft Forge (I developed the mod with 10.13.3.1403, so that version is guaranteed to work)
    2) Run Minecraft to create a mods folder
    3) Place the StopModReposts-1.1.0-mc-1.7.10.jar file into your mods folder inside your minecraft folder

Note: The mod connects to a server every time you launch the game in order to validate mods and check its version.

    Mods using this system:

None yet :( Because this is only useful if mods support it (by having a jar ID), I am suggesting that any modder who sees this thread consider coding their mods to support it.

It's been a while since this, and I haven't seen much of anything going on here, but is this fixed yet?
I really want to use this in a modpack, but I don't want to have constant crashing whenever anybody reaches the bottom of the world...

Also, it'd be really nice if there were some way to modify what layers ores from other mods spawned at.
(Perhaps a list of oredictionaries of ores, where you can set a layer or layers to generate in?)

Sorry, this isn't fixed in this update (at least intentionally). Also, I cannot find any place where I am specifically setting any sort of flag which triggers a block update when placing a liquid (unless WorldGenLiquid and WorldGenLakes do that when they generate liquid, I haven't checked them yet because they are vanilla/Forge classes I use, but have not modified).

However, I have not seen this crash in a long time on my system. It is possible that I fixed it unintentionally (or at least I managed to fix it with the JVM argument added as a workaround). If someone can reproduce this in 0.4.2 (preferably with the JVM argument added), I will look into it.

Also, I will likely create a way to configure what ores are on what levels, though maybe not in the next update.

Deeper Caves has been updated to 0.4.2!

The Mutation and Forgotten levels have been added!

Mutated mob variants and the Shadow mob have been added.

    Entity IDs are now configurable.

    Also, it has fewer bugs.

The download is in the OP.

    Change Log:

    Added Mutation level

Added Venenium liquid in Mutation level

Added Deep variants of vanilla ores

    Added Forgotten level

    Added Evanescite Gem
    Added Evanescite Ore
    Added Block of Evanescite

    Added Forgotten Charm

    Added Mutated mob variants
    Added Shadow mob

    Increased Cave Village gen frequency

Increased experience given by smelting compressed ores

    Made Entity IDs configurable

    Fixed the following bugs:

Fixed certain ores being impossible to smelt
Fixed buckets not working properly with Molten Iron
Fixed cave village fountain not flowing
Fixed the bottom layers of all levels sending player to top of Maze level

Also, unless a major currently-unknown bug is found, this is the last Alpha release! The next update (a bug fix and/or a small content update) is planned to be 0.5.0 Beta.
