When using the old launcher, the Play Offline is grayed out and it says "Not Downloaded" Is there a way to tell it that it does indeed exist?

    Oops!

It seems my instructions weren't correct and won't work. I will edit my post when I have created a working set of instructions.

    Edit: I've found a solution!

It is in my earlier post.

I tried the seed and coordinates you gave and found nothing. Do you have any mods installed? if you have no mods, what version of Minecraft are you using? Also, check that the seed and coordinates are correct.

If the worlds are disappearing from the saves directory in your minecraft folder (not the menu screen, there are bugs that can make worlds disappear from the menu screen while still existing in the saves folder), then you can try making backups of them every time you open them, so you still have them, though you won't be able to save changes this way. Also, if you'r e using mods or a snapshot, this may be a bug. Try removing mods until it resolves if you are using mods or try a different snapshot version if you are using snapshots.

    On the forums I presume?

Empty buckets are topics that have no new replies since you last visited them.

Water bucket are topic which have a new reply.

Lava bucket are topics which have a lot of replies.

Bucket with diamonds means you posted something in that topic.

Also, an X of redstone means a locked topic and a minecart means a moved topic.

For the lava bucket, the post count required is 100.

Note about using MVC (Minecraft Version Changer):

You must select to use the old file structure when it asks whether to use the old or new file structure. Otherwise, it will not show the Indev version. If you do not get this choice, and Indev is missing, download the old launcher and launch Minecraft once with it, then try again. You can then launch Indev with the old launcher or take the .jar and set it up to work with the new launcher.

Edit: The old launcher no longer works, here is another method to use if you do not get the choice about old or new file structure and Indev is missing from the version dropdown in MVC:

    1) Create a folder called "bin" in your minecraft directory.

    2) Go into the "versions" folder, open any folder within that that has a recent (about 1.5 or newer) version, and copy that jar into the bin folder you created.

    3) Now follow the instructions above to patch Minecraft to Indev.

Edit 2: Adding it to the new launcher makes it crash, here are some corrected instructions:

Edit 2.5: I've updated these instructions:

    1) Copy the .jar file found in <your minecraft directory>/libraries/net/java/jinput/jinput/<the oldest version number, for me it is 2.0.5> into the bin directory and rename it to jinput.jar

    2) Copy the .jar file found in <your minecraft directory>/libraries/org/lwjgl/lwjgl/lwjgl/<the oldest version number, for me it is 2.9.0> into your bin directory and rename it to lwjgl.jar

    3) Copy the .jar file found in <your minecraft directory>/libraries/org/lwjgl/lwjgl/lwjgl_util/<the oldest version number, for me it is 2.9.0> into your bin directory and rename it to lwjgl_util.jar

Edit 3: Those steps were not enough, here are the missing steps:

    1) Create a file in your bin directory called "version" with no extension.

    2) Put the content inside the following spoiler into the file (including the white space):

    0000000000000

    4) Now run it with the old launcher. If it gives a "can't connect" error, hit "Play Offline".

Try using Minecraft Version Changer to downgrade, instead of using the downgrading features built into the launcher. I think it goes back to Indev. It is located at http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/877629-minecraft-version-changer-windows%E2%94%82mac%E2%94%82linux-900k-downloads-indev-minecraft-162-works-on-the-new-launcher/

Could anybody be kind and upload the zip with the resource pack? I missed it and switching the date doesn't work.
The Element Animation pack doesn't have the music, and I like the music :D

    Thanks in advance!

I found this tweet on Dinnerbone's twitter containing the link (the tweet isn't from Dinnerbone, but it appeared on his twitter):

posted a message on Resource Pack Glitch?
If the resource pack gives you a villager skin and turns all sounds into villagers saying stuff then it is Mojang's April Fool's joke.

The sounds I'm talking about are not default villager noises, but are things like lava saying "I am lava! Stay away! I will hurt you!", water saying "Water! Water! There is water here!", or mining being "dig dig dig break break break dig dig dig" from block breaking and "stone stone stone stone gravel gravel gravel stone stone stone stone stone dirt dirt" from walking.

Here are some fixes for the problem. One of these should revert your sounds (I think the first fix is better).

posted a message on EndPlus 1.7.0 Nether and End Improvements [3000+ downloads]
It took a while again, but here it is. EndPlus has been updated to 1.4.0!

In this update you will find major changes to the Nether and End terrain generation, adding Ender Grass and Ender Trees to the End, as well as Soul Dirt to the Nether.

Also, I've decided that diamonds were under-powered, and therefore diamond blocks generate as frequently as granite in the Overworld and End!

    April Fools!

    Added Ender Trees

Added Ender Trees to End world generation

Added Ender Wood Logs, which craft into Dark Oak Planks

    Added Ender Leaves

    Added Ender Saplings

    Added Ender Grass

    Improved Nether terrain generation

Added Soul Dirt to Nether world generation

    Made Diamond Blocks generate randomly

    Fixed the following bugs:

    Missing mcmod.info file

    Ender Wart dropping Nether Wart

The download is in the original post.

    Quote from Timdeuces

What do you mean? The assets folder doesn't have the sounds except in the legacy folder. But the newer sounds aren't there, the ones I want are the music files of the silly villager singing.

The randomly named files with no extensions are the assets. The sounds are some of these. For example, lava.ogg (which says "I am lava! Stay away! I will hurt you!) is in assets/objects/1b/1bdd29406cfcd15ff7ad12c6693682b5156e5d8b. The music is also there. Fore example music/menu/got.ogg (this seems to be the menu music with villagers singing) is at assets/23/230666af7de61745b20ee4061e9e5b4976fdab0b.

Also, as I said in my previous post, the full list of file names to hash filenames (the random names in the assets folder) is in 1.7.4_af.json.

They actually are in the assets directory, so just copy it out of the minecraft directory and make the files into a resource pack whenever you want. It looks the same because of the random names, but the files are there. Use 1.7.4_af.json in the indexes folder to find the "deobfuscated" names of the files when you make the pack.

LOL, I just discovered this as well when loading up the game, I thought I had broke something. How do you disable it though???

I think these sounds are really funny ("I am lava! Go away! I can hurt you" from lava and "I'm dead!" from pigs when killed are some of the funniest), but if you don't like them here are some ways to get rid of them.

Either of these should revert the sounds (I think the first one is better):

posted a message on Minecraft Gets New Developer, Sells to EA
Did anyone notice how similar this April Fools joke is to the actual announcement when Jeb took over from Notch?

Here is the joke post edited to show all the changes between this April Fools joke and the announcement when Jeb took over from Notch.

Changes (bold = added, strikethrough = removed):

In light of his deep love for cats, Jeb Notch has confirmed that this baby ocelot - named "Missus Puddums", cherished mascot at EA - will now be the Lead Developer for Minecraft, going forward, following the takeover of the game by gaming industry giant, Electronic Arts (better known to the community as Jeb) . This gives Puddums Jeb final say in all design decisions, though Jeb Notch jokingly added that he made him her "promise to not sell hats pull rank." Jeb Notch cites personal time and additional projects as reasons for his stepping down, but makes it a point to say that he will still be involved in Minecraft development.

Some of the proposed changes to Mincraft include:
    - "Always on" DRM, to reduce account-spoofing
    - Monthly DLC packages
    - Graphics enhancement, to make Minecraft more realistic

Jeb Notch added that it was a "scary move, but I feel strangely confident. I guess we've worked close enough for long enough for me to feel confident about it. EA Jeb is exactly what Minecraft needs right now. Puddums Jeb is a bit more DLC-friendly mod friendly than I am, and we need to embrace DLC mods more."

Puddums Jeb commented on the situation as well, stating that she wasn't "sure when the idea came up the first time (from Jeb Notch), but it has been a few months now. We all knew that Jeb Notch was going to work on other things after 1.8 release, so it kind of seemed natural for me to 'take over'. Besides, I can clean myself while I'm working, and efficient use of time is important to us."

Puddums' Jeb's next step is to work on the cat mod API for Minecraft, a long-awaited feature for players and modders alike, which will be the first paid DLC for the game. She had the following to say on the API:

    Missus Puddums Jens Bergensten said:
Until June, I will be the only developer on Minecraft, so things will have to be slow initially. But my absolute main priority now is to create a fish mod API DLC, because there is no way in hell I will be able to add as much fish content as the whole internet can do. The game needs more fish an API, so end users can obtain them the mods without hassle. I'm not going to do it all by myself though. We have a new programmer beginning in June January, and we are talking to existing fish mod API teams, such as Bukkit-O-Fish, Minecraft Forgefish, and Minecraft Coder Fisher Pack. If we can make a little money on the side from it, all the better.

She went on to add that a release for the new DLC API would likely be seen no sooner than August March.

Jeb Notch and Puddums Jeb have collaborated on Minecraft development for over a week, and Jeb Notch has expressed the utmost confidence in his collaborator's capabilities. You can contact Missus Puddums Jens Bergensten via Twitter.

Puddums Jeb was originally hired as EA's office mascot Mojang's back-end developer, to see if real ocelots made good companions. Over time, Puddums Jeb became increasingly involved in the development of Minecraft, and is now responsible for many well-known (and expensive) DLC packs for other games parts of the game. Having worked on features such as fish DLC wolves, cat fur pattern DLC pistons, and map structures (scratching posts villages, litterboxes strongholds, and nether dogs nether fortresses, all part of the Home Decor DLC), she now takes her his vision of Minecraft's future forward as the official head developer of the game. Congratulations, Missus Puddums Jens Bergensten!

Also, I wasn't fooled by this post at all. This joke wasn't as good as last year's fake version. Last year's could have actually fooled me if i'd seen it on 4/1/13, before it was revealed to be fake. This one only made me laugh.

posted a message on Minecraft Jars
Just some extra info for the "Make Your Own Snapshot Link" section of your post. At snapshot 13w16a, Mojang switched from hosting them on assets.minecraft.net to s3.amazonaws.com. However, the older snapshots are only found on assets.minecraft.net, not on s3.amazonaws.com, so your links do not work for snapshots older than 13w16a. To fix this, you could add the following link to that section of your post.

    For snapshots before 13w16a:
    http://assets.minecraft.net/<version>/minecraft.jar
