Integrated video and Minecraft don't get along, if at all.

I can't exactly lug my gaming desktop to work.

Does your job pay you to play games? I doubt it.

Well, my job pays me for the time I spend there, and I spend time playing games at work. So on a technicality, my job does in fact pay me to play games.
The alternative is spending 9 hours a night staring at a wall between phone calls, and my time is worth more than that.
Regardless, thank you for taking the time to respond.

I know of a way to fix this:
Open Properties on Desktop, go to configuration>advanced options>troubleshoot

Then drag the Hardware acceleration down to the third option. That fixes it for me.

    THIS is perfect. <3
Totally fixes the problem, 100%. Well, 95.7%. It likes to hang on the Mojang logo for some reason.
But after a while it launches and runs perfectly!

Thank you very much, I had pretty much given up on getting this to work.
For future readers, definitely do this, it might fix your issue.

    Unfortunately.
Which is why I'm looking for a work-around. I don't care if it looks like garbage or runs poorly, as long as it runs.

    Bumpity bump bump bump!

As an update, I tried updating my drivers http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=457949&prodSeriesId=457948&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1059.
    And also uninstalled/reinstalled Java.

    Still need help.
I think HP may have just stopped making drivers for it, as terrible an idea as it sounds is there another set I can use that will work/

    I am unable to run Minecraft on my tablet PC, (a compaq tc4200, Windows XP) due to the following error;

    Bad video card drivers!
    -----------------------

Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

To the best of my knowledge, my drivers are up to date, but it's sort of an aged tablet so I'm not completely sure. Regardless, I think it meets the required specs, and passes all of the video tests in the dxdiag window.
I also notice that there's some Java stuff thrown in there. I have the latest version of Java as well.

Additionally, it seems that the forum's search feature is disabled. Google has failed me.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

posted a message on WorldEdit - Do really big things in-game! In-game map editor and more
    Awesome mod!

My only concern is that sometimes, when opening doors, I get a message in chat that the game has "Switched to Thru Mode" or "Switched to Jump Mode". From that point on, it changes every time I right click.
After that point, every time I try to mine a block, I wind up teleporting. This can be fixed by right clicking until it stays on "Thru Mode", but then I get messages in red font that there is "Nothing to go through" when I mine. They fill up the entire left side of the screen, basically the entire chat box as you mine. The glitch persists after saving.
It is very disorienting, is there a way to disable this command entirely?

I'm only using this and Zan's Minimap, so I'm thinking it's almost definitely this. ;3
    Thanks in advance.

posted a message on Notch's New Project
I'm satisfied with the development speed as well. If Minecraft stayed where it was indefinitely, I'd be disappointed but I'd still feel like I'd gotten my money's worth.

This isn't TF2, and Notch is not Valve; I don't really expect the content to quadruple in size from launch for free.

Anyway, I think it's a good sign if they're looking at other projects. It means we'll get to see more games, or sandbox toys or whatever you'd like to call it from them soon, and that they have the business sense to stay afloat and not just freak out about how successful their game is.

posted a message on I just found a NEW ore! Blue rock!
Oh my gosh guys, I can't wait for the Nintendo 64 to come out! The graphics look amazing!

I kid. I actually had about the same reaction when I saw, what are they called, Dogwood Trees? I had no idea they were included in the update, and was really confused when I saw zebra-patterned trees around me after sunrise.

Thinking I had encountered some rare textured glitch, I did what anyone who had discovered a unique treasure would do: I punched it until it broke, placed it to see if it still looked like a zebra, gazed at its majesty for a while, and then Googled it.
I recommend that next time, assuming this whole thread isn't flame bait.

posted a message on Crash to Black Screen, Not Responding Client
I have this same issue. Client goes to a black screen, music keeps playing but the window stops responding.
Never comes out of it, have to relaunch Minecraft to continue. It's been happening since beta for me, at first just once in a while but today it has literally occurred every five to ten minutes.

I'm using Windows 7, my graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 430.
My drivers are up to date, and I am using the game client.
I haven't tried to run the game in a browser yet, and don't remember seeing this problem in single player.

Hope the spec info helps patching it out somehow.
