*Beverages, Agriculture and Barrels*
As first I would like to tell you that I know that thirst has been suggested a lot, just as drinks,But this suggestion is worked out and contains more things than other suggestions I found, and the use of new items is very different of those often closed topics. This suggestion contains a lot of new items (12, of which one new kind of food),
two new plants, and one large game change.
NEW PLANTS:
Barley
Barley, the main ingredient for a certain drink we will create, is a crop very much like wheat.
Just as wheat you grow barley on soil, which works best if close to a water source.
Barley grows just as fast as wheat, and has the same growing pattern.
Destroying a full grown barley crop gives you (just like wheat) new seeds and also Barley.
Barley grains can be used to create ale, an alcohol containing beverage.
Harvesting the crop may give you 0-3 barley seeds and one barley.
This is not my image. This is what I think barley should look like.
Shrubs
This plant is very common in forest and river biome, it is used to obtain blueberries.
Shrubs don't need water, and need dirt or grass to grow on.
Shrubs can be picked up if destroyed, and can be placed back on dirt or grass.
You can't make/create shrubs, as this would make the game too easy.
If placed, blueberries will start to grow on it,
these will become visible on the shrub when they are ready to be harvested.
Without blueberries a shrub is completely green, and with blueberries it has blue/purple dots in it.
You can harvest the blueberries by rightclicking on the shrub with shears, when the blueberries have grown on.
This is to give shears another use,
and so you don't accidentally take some blueberries when you eat some food or pull the string of your bow.
When you have harvested, the blueberries should grow back in approximately two hours,
what is a very reasonable time, because even wheat takes longer to fully grow.
Per harvest you should receive 1-2 blueberries,
Not too much, that would make the game too easy.
This is not my image. This is what I think a shrub should look like.
NEW ITEMS:
Barley
This item is used to make ale. Barley can be obtained by harvesting the barley crop (explained earlier).
Barley is a grain which can’t be used for anything else than making ale,
but still this will be an important item as ale can be needful.
What the barley-item should look like.
There is a clear difference between wheat (left) and barley (right).
Barley seeds
Barley seeds are the seeds used to obtain Barley of course,
the seeds themselves can be obtained in two ways:
Harvesting a barley crop, or destroying tall grass.
Tall grass normally gives you only wheat seeds,
but now tall grass also drops barley seeds.
The chance that tall grass drops seeds is very little, but when they do drop seeds,
there should be 20% chance that it drops barley seeds, and 80% chance that it drops wheat seeds.
Because of these new seeds,
I suggest that normal seeds should be called wheat seeds from now on to avoid confusion.
I also suggest that chickens should be able to be bred with barley seeds,
and all other seeds that are available in the game right now.
This is what barley seeds should look like.
Again there is a clear difference between wheat seeds (left) and barley seeds (right).
Shrub
This item is placeable, and was further explained earlier.
This item is not craftable, and can only be obtained from the wild.
I haven’t thought about what this item should look like,
maybe others would.
Blueberries
Blueberries were food for rich people in the old times,
although I’m not trying to introduce some kind of ultra-satisfying food type.
As blueberries will be a product used to make blueberry juice,
they actually aren't supposed to be used as a food type.
But now they are part of this suggestion, it would be strange to not make them edible.
As growing blueberries goes slightly faster than growing wheat,
blueberries should refill just as much hunger as one wheat.
Three wheat combined form a bread, which refills seven hunger.
That is why blueberries should refill only two hunger,no more, no less.
This is what blueberries should look like.
Barrel
Barrels are storage container for all beverages that will be introduced.
Barrels look just like cauldrons, but then made of wooden planks.
Because they are made of wood, you can destroy them easy with axes.
They are stackable if they don't contain any liquid.
Barrels can be used to store beverages in, if there is a beverage in the barrel,
and you destroy the barrel, you will just obtain the barrel with the remaining liquid in it.
The quantity of the liquid inside is shown with the durability/damage bar.
If all of the liquid is gone (because you emptied it) you will get an empty, undamaged barrel.
NOTE: Only liquids received from barrels can be drunk.
How to drink the beverage in the barrel:
First you will have to place the item on the ground.
(Of course first craft it into a barrel containing liquid, which will be explained later)
Then you can right click the barrel with a cup to fill the cup.
And then of course you have to hold the right mouse-button to drink the beverage.
This drinking has the same sound and movement as drinking a bucket of milk has now.
This is how a barrel should be crafted.
Barrel of water
Water is the only beverage which is actually unhealthy.
You craft a barrel of water with 1 bucket of water and a barrel.
You will get the bucket back when crafted.
Normally, you could not be able to use salt water,to make it more easy,
we’ll just accept that all minecraft water isn't salty.
Also, in real life there would be a chance that water is filthy,
and could make you sick.
(as minecraft starts to look like middle ages, I use middle aged methods and conditions.)
Because in game water is infinite, and in middle ages it mostly is contaminated,
I have decided that it should actually be unhealthy.
Therefore drinking water should have a chance of poisoning you for 8 seconds. (30%)
(This means that if you fully hydrate yourself using water, there is a 50% chance of getting poisoned.)
Asking me to change the fact that water is bad for you isn’t worth trying,as that would give people infinite drinks, and make this all really useless.
A barrel of water has 4 uses (you can get four cups of water out of it).
This is how a barrel of water should be crafted.
Barrel of milk
Milk has the same amount of uses as water,
that because milk is also very easy to get (once you have a cow).
You can craft a barrel of milk with 1 bucket of milk and a barrel.
You will get the bucket back when crafted.
Milk has no side effects,
even not removing all effects like poison (?).
A barrel of milk has 4 uses (you can get four cups of milk out of it).
This is how a barrel of milk should be crafted.
Barrel of apple juice
Apple juice has more uses than water and milk,
because it is harder to obtain.
You can craft a barrel of apple juice with 7 apples, 1 bucket of water and a barrel.
You will get the bucket back when crafted.
Apple juice has no side effects.
A barrel of apple juice has 8 uses (you can get eight cups of apple juice out of it).
This is how a barrel of apple juice should be crafted.
Barrel of ale
Ale also has same amount of uses as water and milk,
and has less uses than apple juice.
You can craft a barrel of ale with 7 barley, 1 bucket of water and a barrel.
You will get the bucket back when crafted.
Ale has no major side effect:
When you drink ale (and your thirst-bar is completely filled),
there is NO chance that you become drunk, NO CHANCE
In medieval times, ale was not a beverage with much alcohol, less than 0,1%.
It was used instead of water, because they didn't know that water would be drinkable if they would boil it,
but in the ale process, it all gets boiled, that is why this is used as a normal drink.
A barrel of ale has 4 uses (you can get four cups of ale out of it).
This is how a barrel of ale should be crafted.
Barrel of blueberry juice
Blueberry juice has more uses than water/milk/ale,and less than apple juice.
You can craft a barrel of blueberry juice with 7 blueberries, 1 bucket of water and a barrel.
You will get the bucket back when crafted.
Blueberry juice has no side effects.
A barrel of blueberry juice has 6 uses (you can get six cups of blueberry juice out of it).
This is how a barrel of blueberry juice should be crafted.
Clay cups
This is one of the two cups that can be used to drink beverages.
To drink you simply just fill the cup with liquid by right clicking a barrel filled with a liquid,
and then hold the right mouse-button to drink.
A clay cup can be crafted with five hardened clay, in the shape of a boat.
Cups are stackable if not filled with liquid.
Clay cups cannot break.
This is how a clay cup should be crafted.
Glass cups
This is the other one of the two cups that can be used to drink beverages.
This item works the same as the clay version.
A glass cup can be crafted with five glass, in the shape of a boat.
Cups are stackable if not filled with liquid.
Glass cups cannot break.
This is how a glass cup should be crafted.
BIG GAME CHANGE:
Hydration
Yes, yes, I know this has been suggested a lot,but I do it a bit different.
For dehydration, there should not be a new bar introduced.
Dehydration should only have effect on saturation.
That means that drinks are only useful when your food-bar is filled completely.
If your food-bar is filled and you have drunk a lot, your food-bar would not deplete very fast.
Drinking would have no effect if your food-bar is not completely filled,
this means that drinking is only useful in a later stage of the game.
NOTE: You can only drink till your saturation reaches max.
The filling of saturation with beverages:
With beverages I mean the liquids coming from the different barrels.
There are five beverages:
Water, Milk, Apple juice, Ale, and Blueberry juice.
They all give different satisfactions (they differ in the saturation they refill):
One cup of water gives 2 saturation (Barrel of water: 8).
One cup of milk gives 2 saturation (Barrel of milk: 8).
One cup of apple juice gives 4 saturation (Barrel of apple juice: 32).
One cup of ale gives 4 saturation (Barrel of ale gives: 16).
One cup of blueberry juice gives 4 saturation (Barrel of blueberry juice: 24).

Ease is what kills a good game. Minecraft IS a survival game. Make it harder to survive. There's nothing wrong with alcohol because of a few reasons:1. The kid's father could possibly drink beer. The kid knows what it is. If the kid isn't being raised by idiots, he's fine.2. This generation is so screwed up, the kid could has Call Of Duty or some other shooter.3. The media promotes alcohol so much it's normal to see it on TV, or anywhere else.4. Parents can step in and tell them it's bad. They eventually will learn what it is. No use hiding its existence from him.You can disagree if you want. Just think about how the media is already influencing children.SUPPORT.Quote from Swiftdark09I support this. After a certain point in Minecraft, it gets boring. Once you have a house and armor, there's nothing to do and all you do is sit around waiting for something to happen. Hunger made the game harder and I loved it. If thirst was added everyone would be on edge always doing something.

Once again we think alike! I have always pondered the possibility of dehydration, but your implementation of it is just outgoing brilliant! I would love to see some textures for the drinks, but other than that I must say you have just flipped the table with this redundant and bad suggestion, by incorporating it in a way that I actually deem fitting to Minecraft.
Even though Ales and beers are arguable subjects of high degree I must warn you that just by judging from the number of critics of this subject such a topic should be left out of the picture.

How about instead of hydration, how about that they just fill your hunger bar slightly and give a weak potion effect (positive or negative). In my opinion, this would be better than a hydration bar. I like the suggestion you made of hydration effecting hunger, but it just sounds like a pain in the ****. Anyone who has played in hardcore mode in today's current Minecraft will know how fast hunger already depletes. Also people will be too busy doing tasks than focusing on another bar. support.

Ah, I'm just kidding. I personally like the idea of a thirst bar, so count me as support. However, the ale might be a little "Adult" for children (Even though they could hop on any multiplayer server and see someone type how they f**ked there mom last night). I have no problem with it, and I can see some other people don't have a problem with it either, but parents might flip out because apparently, drugs and alcohol don't exist in the real world, and their just pure evil created by the video games. Getting drunk in the game could be a little fun and make children giggle to see their minecraft steve waddle around with blurry vision, no harm done. So yes, +1 support, although the ale and such is on the line of being fine and being too mature for children.

Is that how a boss monster entryway should be? Such places should be difficult and act as a gateway before you fight the actual boss so that any weaklings that don't deserve it are weeded out. So here it is, the Sentry Golem.
Sentry Golem
Normally, the Sentry Golem is in the form of two Chiselled stone bricks embedded into the walls. They don't move at all, but when a player comes within 15x15 blocks, purple eyes appear on the top block. When they are within 5x5 blocks, the golem launches itself from the wall with an explosion and runs towards the player.
Rarely, Sentry golems may be located near each other. In this case when one golem is activated, it sets off a chain reaction of other golems activating as well.
The red eyes can be seen in the darkness even when they are still in the walls, so they can be avoided.(There are several of them on the way to the portal, so you'll have no choice to fight a few)
They are located in a few areas around the stronghold, especially near doors and long passageways, but 3 of them are within the main portal room, so you'll have to be prepared for a fight before going on to the Enderdragon.
Attributes
Health: 80HP. Being made of stone, it is weaker than the Iron Golem.
Damage: 10HP. It is offensively superior to the Iron Golem.
Speed: Between the player's sprint and walking speed. They are faster than most mobs, but not too fast to be able to escape from.
High Knockback
Hostility: Unlike it's iron cousin, the sentry golem's is a servant of the Ender, and have a duty to protect the stronghold from any human players. Because of this, they are not activated by any hostile mobs such as zombies or creepers. If they were activated by them, sentry golems would most likely be activated already by the time the player arrives.
Drops: Sentry Golems usually drop chiselled stone bricks or redstone on death. They may also rarely drop ender pearls.
Appearance
I have no talent in creating pictures for this kind of thing, so if anyone would like to create some pictures for this suggestion they are more than welcome.
They are simular in appearance with the Iron Golem, but the center (stomache) block is a chiseled stone brick, and the arms/legs are of stone brick. The head is also chiselled stone brick, but have two purple eyes on them.
Why?
As I said earlier, strongholds are much too simple and easy for a gateway to a boss mob. They need something that will keep players on their toes, and get rid of those that have no right to be fighting a boss.
If there are any issues with what I've thought out, please don't hestitate with any feedback!

Having something like this out would ruin alot of PVE. You wouldn't even need to fight any mobs, as long as something like this around, you can stay JUST within their sight of range, and any mobs closer to the Goliath would be taken care of. You'd just have to make sure you run once you're the target, but given the fact that mob ai isn't that difficult to escape from and they're slower than the player, that wouldn't be so difficult either.
Otherwise, nice idea.

This would add a new element of thrill to the game in which evading mobs would actually be possible by sneaking by quietly.
Noise is affected by:
Movement
The amount of noise you make can differ according to how you're moving. Sneaking or swimming underwater wouldn't make much noise, but sprinting, jumping, jumping in the water, breaking blocks would make noise and alert the mobs.
Type of mob
There are certain mobs that are near deaf, and some that have very clear hearing. Zombies, for example, can have low hearing. Ocelots and bats, on the other hand, would notice your presence very easily.
Block you are on
Blocks like snow or sand wouldn't make too much noise when walked upon. Gravel would make a lot of noise.
Armor
So basically the higher grade armor you wear, the heavier it is and the more it would clank.
This would give leather armor some use as a material that would provide some defense but wouldn't alert mobs too easily.
Number of mobs
If you've ever been to a dungeon or owned a cow farm you'd know that having a lot of mobs in one place makes a ton of noise. The sound of all those mobs could overlap with your sounds, making them less likely to notice.
This would add a new element of thrill to the game in which evading mobs could actually be possible!
