posted a message on Modifying item swinging animation? Ex. Axes, Pickaxes

Background: I've never made a mod before and I don't have much programming experience and I have no interest in web dev thus not in JS either - which, might be close-minded, but I haven't learned for sure yet.

Question: I wanna make a mod to modify the default item swinging animation from what it is now, to something else.

    Is this possible?

Nope, the latest version is the one in the thread. It would be simple(albeit tedious) to make your own version. You'd have to open up your Tinker's Construct archive, find the textures for the shovels, and use an image editor to rotate each one 90° counter-clockwise. Make sure to get every shovel part for each material - handles, heads, and modifiers. If there are mods like PlusTiC that add new materials, make sure to do the same for those mods.

Nowadays, you may be able to save your results as a resource pack instead of replacing all the files in the mod. Would probably be easier. Good luck!

I'm not sure how you did it, I kinda just assume you did it manually - I'm not sure what you mean by "handles heads and modifiers" I'm very new to playing modded Minecraft, but it sounds like you're referring to modular tools of sorts?

Well, now I'm actually developing a way to do it without it being incredibly torturous.

It should work for any mod. I predict 90% of the shovels to be flipped without issues. Definitely using resource packs, as well.

Huh... I posted those videos well after making this thread. And, they were also supposed to be unlisted. Strange, don't know why it isn't linking to the original anymore. I guess it doesn't matter that much, the versions of TiC/ExtraTiC I made this for are extremely outdated.

Do you have new versions? I'm actually looking for something compatible with Enigmatica 2.

I have a question in response to the thread:

    So?

Not everything has to have a special use or even be useful. Tons of games have items that have no real use. This tier is basically just decorative, and that is fine since nobody forces you to use or make it.

I don't think it's fine. There must be meaning. Just like there must be meaning to anything added onto a story, even if it's as shallow as "i wrote it because it was cool" it's still an acceptable reason to do so. It's called good game design.

The videos in the thread have nothing to do with the topic.
