Pre-Buying Reaction: Okay, why am I being nagged to buy this? All I do is build... (I was not told of anything Survival-related)
Then; I watched about 20 consecutive Paulsoaresjr "Survive and Thrive" videos and developed an absolute "MUST HAVE!!" for the game!
I loved it when I played it; I felt so heroic with the "dirt-cave and 1x1 hole to see what time it was" technique... I'd give up nearly anything to get back into Beta 1.1....
Aside from Spleef, Extreme Survival, and PvP Arena's (regular or SDK otherwise)?
In a specific seed that a friend had found (back then when you had to open a seperate file to insert seeds) with a GIGANTIC mountain that had a huge overhang with tons of monsters and darkness inside it. I took a stopwatch and said to a friend: "Give me your items and see how long you can last down there!" He lasted a couple minutes under that cieling. I made a small stand in the hallway of our cave-home (for all 5 of us) and put a sign with the record on it. That sign would always change times and players...
We no longer have that seed considering how our immature server host blew everything up... (AGAIN!)
I myself have had too many to count and judge since January; but here's a nice hunk of meat:
In a game of "Extreme Survival" (Back in 1.4), where rules include moving to a new biome each morning, no-block-placing, eat twice a day, Ironman mode, etc...
Two friends and I were on top of a mountain in a Taiga biome. We decided to spend the night on (or in my case, under) a lone pine tree. I look out to see on of my pals on a ledge, crouching over a 40 block fall with no way to get back up (remember, no placing blocks). To make matters even more comical, a creeper sat perched above him. My other friend said "I'll save you! *Giggle*" and chucked a snowball at the creeper. The creeper landed face-first on the friend near the cliff... The outcome was bleak and hysterical, and all that could be heard was a scream comparable to that of a monkey and a "CONSOLE: Banning Quixoticelixerr" ('Quix' was the one killed by the creeper, as we were playing Ironman Mode).
Ahh.... Then it was just us two, surviving the last four nights before making it to 'safety' and calling it a night. One could venture with a horrible play on words and say... "That story was pure gold! " ...No high-five? Oh...
Well... faint word passed around of the game here n' there. After a while, I was being downright nagged into purchasing it... Reaction: "Meh." After words, two other friends got it (ones that I had closer contact with), and seemed to really enjoy themselves on their 'Empire Valley of Chicken Rebels.' After they would log off and head to bed, I would watch PaulSoaresJr.'s tutorials on 'Survive and Thrive' in Minecraft. That hooked me into both his videos and Minecraft itself.
Overview: I got it fer' my birthday back in January '11... It was the best decision I have made in my life! I still play Minecraft to this day, whether I'm on 'SSP', Extreme-Survival, and even SDK when it updates!
Tub o' fun server! There's much variety in building your own place or staying in one of about 7 major cities! The entire server is good for RPers and regulars alike! Mayor of Pineapple Port, so if you want an adventurous taste of ocean breeze in your mouth, I recommend you come up north on your map! :wink.gif:
A new ore? Sounds like 'plan to me! If anything, it'd probably be less common than iron but more common than diamond. Probably material for tools, but I can imagine it having its own unique uses. That aside, what my personal taste has it; is that it could be a material found within the nether. Perhaps supernatural, with 'magical' purposes. There is most likely a mod or addon for this already, but it feels good to throw it out there.

Make Tools?
Enchant/Repair Old Tools
Upgraded Arrows?
Perhaps new material for a new TnT. A clusterbomb would be nice.
Maybe even special armor that reduces damage taken by fire and lava!
The repitition must be murderous, but throwing a harmless opinion never hurt before.
