Here at Minecraft Junkie we just love Minecraft and playing it, so our server is about feeding that addiction and just having fun playing this amazing game. We feel everyone should be able to play, so our server is 100% public right away, you may build right off the bat and we have no builder rank.

Also, for our server to be public and grief free, we have a team of staff devoted to preventing griefing at all costs, so everyone can play the game and not worry about their builds and items. Also our staff are promoted to playing just like you, they do not spawn items and we keep the true vanilla feel.

We are very centered around the idea of a community. We have many towns, cities, businesses, and whole civilizations of people working together to survive in the world of Minecraft. Each community can do whatever they please. They can institute their own economy system, make their own community storage, create farms, have leaders, make jobs, literally anything. This is what makes Minecraft Junkie so great, our communities and the people on the server are always just there to have fun and play Minecraft.

posted a message on Give me one AMAZING reason why Hunger should NOT be toggable
I think we're all missing the point a little bit. The subject isn't why hunger is a good/bad addition to the game, but why it should/shouldn't be TOGGLEABLE. Everybody enjoys different things about Minecraft. Some like pure creative (flying, spawning items, World Edit, etc.), some like complete survival (hard mode, hunger, one life, etc.), and some like a gentle balance of the two. That's why Minecraft is such a great game. The game is what you make it to be.

Regardless if Mojang adds it or not, there will be a way to revert back to the old way of eating. This is clearly a huge problem in the community, so there will be many people who are talented in modding who will create mods for the Single and Multiplayer communities. If Mojang adds a toggle feature, it will just lighten the burden for the modders while Mojang goes through its swarm of updates and update patches coming up through 1.8, 1.9, and further.

tl;dr, it's going to be available anyways, so until we get a modding API there's no real reason why it shouldn't be built into the game.

Hmm. Maybe if you get 9 of them, you can craft it into a dye, which can be combined with any BlOCK in the game. This would give the block illuminating properties, like Glowstone.

One amazing reason? or can i give you alot of reasonable reasons?

This is why I hate people.

-So you dont end up camping in caves, you have to adventure out to harvest food.

Responses like these remind me of my friends' butthurt, micro-managing mothers going, "Now now Johnny, you've been on the computer for thirty minutes! You go outside now and get some fresh air!"

Minecraft is a SANDBOX GAME. 3.5 million purchased Minecraft because it is a Sandbox game. The game is whatever we make it to be. I want to be a farmer and make elaborate tree farms, wheat farms, sugar cane farms, automated systems...that's my game. That's my Minecraft. What if I want to be a miner who spends time digging out enormous underground mines and trade resources with players above the surface? That's MY Minecraft. Don't like it? Pick one of the THOUSANDS of other things to do in Minecraft and get out of my way.

-Adds to the realistic effect that Notch wants.

So if Notch wants to add a breathing button we have to press every three seconds to make the game more "realistic", we should all shut up and accept it? We have the right to complain about a blatantly crappy feature, just as you have the right to suck up to Mojang.

    -Makes the game better.

    Elaborate.

-If you dont like it Man up. If you cant do that just downgrade your minecraft.

I like vines, Iron Bars, Silverfish, Blue Spiders, Endermen, abandoned mineshafts, strongholds, Webs, new fighting mechanics, giant mushrooms, new stone bricks/stairs and brick slabs/stairs, melons and melon/pumpkin seeds, new cave generation, biome generation, clay generation, improved Shears, awesome lighting, sprinting, non-decaying leaves I place, etc.

    I don't like Hunger.

"If you don't like this feature that makes the game worse, go play a version nobody else plays".

Well you got me there. Can't argue with that solid logic.

    Quote from ronyanlu

    One word: Survival

LET'S GET SOMETHING STRAIGHT: People who do not want Hunger are NOT against the game being difficult. I like difficulty.

I like having to intelligently fight Zombies, with their unique attack range and appearance.

I like fighting Skeletons. It is fun to defeat Skeletons, with the dangerous dance we must engage in.

I like the thrill that Creepers and Endermen add to the game, where if I make one wrong move I pay dearly.

I like Spiders and Blue Spiders. They are fun to kill because of my arachnophobia.

I like the necessity to maintain peace with Zombie Pigmen, balanced with my need to heal. This is a great part of the game.

I like Ghasts. They are one of the most fun mobs to kill in the game, be it through arrows, or a deadly game of volley ball, while your battlefield is crumbling around you.

I like PVP with other players is endlessly fun because of the many layers of teamwork and strategy it requires.

I like the difficulty to build underwater, and the sense of accomplishment in succeeding in creating something in the airless land.

I like carefully mining, as to be careful not to be killed by falling gravel or lava, or falling long distances and crushing my bones.

I like manufacturing through the burning landscape of the Nether.

I like playing Minecraft because I enjoy surviving. Survival is NOT about the simple aspect of "not dying". If that was the goal of the game, I'd dig myself a 1x1x2 room, set difficulty to Normal, and I've beaten the game.

No. That is NOT Minecraft, because that isn't survival. That's not why so many of us have hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of hours logged into this Indie game still in Beta that cost us less than a movie. Real survival is a life that isn't just existing, but flourishing. That's why we build more than a defensive hut, but a mighty fortress. Not just lookout towers, but sky cities, blimps, and massive trees.

And we also play because we like the difficulty of achieving those plateaus of survival. We like having to keep areas lit, or else face the monsters of the night. We like having to build elaborate stairwells to move around, instead of just installing a flymod to go from level to level. We like the dangerous appeal of objects such as fire, TNT, and lava.

So here's the point that has really just been ignored in this thread. Up until now, EVERY PART OF THIS GAME HAS BEEN OPTIONAL. This is what we love about Minecraft. We don't HAVE to do anything. We don't HAVE to use ladders; we can make our own stairways. We don't HAVE to use lights; we can fight mobs off in the darkness. We DIDN'T HAVE to use food; we could delve into danger with the enormous risk that if we made one wrong move, we lost everything. And we liked it.

But Hunger removes that. Hunger isn't actually adding to the danger or difficulty of Minecraft at all. It is REMOVING it. Before, if you wanted to play the game dangerously, you could. For the first three months of owning the game, I never crafted bread. I rarely cooked pork. And of course, I NEVER made Soup because shrooms were just so rare back then. I played with damage on, mobs on, no flymod, etc. I played carefully with much at stake, and I enjoyed it.

Now with Hunger, so much of the danger is actually gone now, because you will ALWAYS be at full health, and you will ALWAYS have food on you. When before you would often walk through with maybe half your health missing, a sudden encounter with a Skeleton could end you. Now, you have a feast in your pocket and started out with 10 hearts.

Mobs are less risky, falls are less risky, fire is less risky, drowning is less risky, etc. Yes, the inconvenience of having to carry food everywhere is annoying and pointless and yaddayaddayadda, but people will do it because they have to and there's no other choice.

And then Survival turns from succeeding in style, to creative mode with its balls cut off.

Kudos to whoever comes out with the first anti-hunger mod.

    -Typo

posted a message on 2 Updates Or One Big One?
Just release it all at once. Get it all over with. There's no need for Mojang to put us through what they did for 1.7. It's really just insensitive to modders and players. This update, should it all come at once will mean that it will probably be about three weeks until the server I go on is up and running. This is assuming it takes two weeks to get through all of the bug fixes 1.8 brings us (The addition of Pistons alone took three weeks to fix, so this is being hopeful), and a week for Bukkit/all the other modders to get their mods working.

If Notch splits it up, I'm going to be unable to play on my map for, quite literally, MONTHS. If they released the bloody Mod API like they've promised, this obviously wouldn't be a problem. But, from what they've told us, they aren't going to be doing that until AFTER the game is RELEASED. >.>

Just change your skin. Nobody likes the "Steve" skin anyways. Don't try to waste Mojang's time with stupid crap like this when they can work on more important things in the game.

    WELCOME TO MINECRAFT JUNKIE!

This server is 100% PUBLIC to BUILD FREELY! No Whitelist whatsoever. You can build as soon as you leave our spawn area.
To gain access to the plugins MyWarp, Stargates, and mcMMO; along with Water Buckets,
please sign up on our website above and you'll be ranked up as soon as possible!

Before you do though, please read our rules below! We look forward to playing with you!

    Server IP: play.minecraftjunkie.com

    Port: 31202

    --Mumble Download--

    READ THE RULES BELOW!
    click me!! ---> http://minecraftjunkie.com/mcj-server-rules/
    <--- click me!!!

    Important Plugins:
Check out our complete plugin list in the second page!
Big Brother - This plugin lets us track every block break, placement, and every chest opening/transaction by every player. If you EVER get griefed, we will be able to help you. If you EVER grief yourself, we will find you and ban you. If you encounter a user griefing or being griefed, please message any VIP (Purple), Staff (Blue), Overlord (Yellow), or Admin (Red) as soon as possible.

LWC - Lightweight Chest Protection allows you to protect your chests from people opening them. No more hiding chests under the floorboards! You can also customize your options to allow only you and your friends use it. This also works on doors, trapdoors, furnaces, signs, and dispensers. You can also create Public doors that anyone can open, but nobody can destroy. Type in "/lwc" ingame for more details.

Precious Stones - This gives an additional use to rare resources. Diamond Blocks make all blocks unbreakable within a 20x15x20 radius from the block. Lapis Blocks become a 5x5x5 force field which only you and your friends can pass. Gold Blocks are completely unbreakable except for those who placed them. Type in "/ps help" ingame for more details.

mcMMO - This is our "leveling" system, where you can train gathering skills like Mining, Excavation, Herbalism, and Woodcutting; combat skills such as Swords, Axes, Archery, Unarmed, or Taming; or a few other fun skills like Acrobatics and Repair. You can get more information about these skills by typing in "/mcc" or "/mcmmo" ingame, or by clicking this link.

Stargate - Stargates are the method of transportation that we have given to users. A Stargate is very much like a Portal to the Nether, except it is made out of Iron Blocks, and there can be multiple destinations. It is made of ten Iron Blocks, and can be linked to other Stargates to teleport from one place to another. If you want to make your own Stargate, please ask a member of the moderation team before trying, as it will cost you $50,000. And speaking of money...

iConomy - We have a player-run iConomy system in our server. The prices and economy are all fully controlled by our players, so look around before buying or pricing your items. All players start the game with $50,000 dollars. Buying from a chest shop is as simple as right clicking the sign. There is a teleporting sign to the mall at the bottom floor of the Spawn room. You can create a shop by reading the instructions here, or asking around ingame. Also, make sure you type in "/buy" and "/sell" before using a shop. If not, you may buy something you didn't want, or sell an important item.
