Actually, I may have an idea for a power source. I remember something in Portal 2 that dealt with concentrated solar energy.
Craft a glass sphere with a glass cube on the top, left, right, and bottom. Stick the sphere in the solar collector. Let it collect the rays, and then you stick this sphere inside of the iron and glass box, and wala, you have the sun in a box.

May 6, 2011Basically, it's a hazard for zombies and skeletons.Posted in: WIP Mods
It will emit a light level of 15 like glowstone, will be movable like a torch, and will KILL THE UNDEAD!
So, any zombie/skele that walks within...let's say 5-6 blocks of it catches on fire as if it were in direct sunlight.
However, here's a small problem. I'm not sure how to go about tricking the game into thinking that the 6 block radius around the block is in direct sunlight.
I guess it WOULD be possible to create an area of influence around the block, almost like the 1x1x1 radius of a block of fire, that will light zombie and skeleton entities on fire.
I was hoping someone who has had experience with that kind of thing could point me to the right source file to get started. I've taken a good look at World, BlockFire, EntityFire, and many others, but I can't seem to nail down how to go about creating this sphere of influence.
Also, anyone got any crafting ideas? I was thinking about glowstone in an iron and glass box.
May 6, 2011Typheus posted a message on Modding [REQ] &/or Question. Rain generates source water? It might be a decoration, but it does affect the world by putting out fires.Posted in: Mods Discussion
If it's possible to make the game recognize a 1x1 hole that can see the sky during a rain, then I can see it being possible.
Although this would soon become a pain in the ass unless it evaporated later.
May 1, 2011Ok, let me summarize that last post.Posted in: Requests / Ideas For Mods
"Hello, I am God. I automatically know everything every user on this board does. I now know that any user that says the search is down is a liar, never tried the search. There is no way, even for the millions of online users, that there could be a glitch."
You must be the guy that wrote the Old Testament because the OTHER God got laid while you were too busy trolling people.
As for the mere mortals, Qway and mitch, who accomplished more than Virgin God in this thread (way to go, guys), thanks for your help. This allocator is exactly what I've been looking for.
Oh and sorry mitch, but it looks like the idea has already been taken. If you really want an idea to work on, I'd like into wireless redstone transmission that doesn't have to go in a straight line. Something similar to the 2-way radios on the Wire mod for Gmod would be excellent.
Of course if you're JUST getting started, I'd suggest something simple. Try making an explosive that only blasts UP and out in a wide radius. Makes it easier to terraform a large area. To me, that sounds like it would be easier to code than wireless redstone.
Apr 30, 2011Industrial Craft has this. It's not a simple process to obtain the canned foods, though.Posted in: Requests / Ideas For Mods
Read up on his opening post to see all of the new machines and items added, and you might like it.
You can eventually build a machine to create canned foods that's powered by electricity if you're patient enough and crafty enough.
Apr 30, 2011To be honest, I've looked up and down google for this, and the Minecraft forum search is down, so I really have no way to search for this other than by asking some experienced members on this forum.Posted in: Requests / Ideas For Mods
You might have seen my other topic about conveyor belts, and I believe an item collector would be THE perfect addition.
So, if anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.
Apr 30, 2011So...ever think of getting together with the Industrial Craft developer and seeing if you can't work out a way to combine the two?Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Combining a mod with new ores with a mod that creates more ways to refine them seems like a winning combination to me.

COME ON! HOW OBVIOUS IS IT!?
Water works as a conveyor belt quite nicely, but it only moves DOWNHILL! We need one that can move uphill, turn when we want it to, and BE FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE! Hell, imagine adjusting the speed on one of these bastards to launch objects over a chasm. (Pneumatic tubes like in Portal 2, now THAT'S an idea)
Now, imagine this, because I'm sure SOME people here have played with the Industrial Craft mod, and possibly that allocator mod which basically gives you a production line.
Imagine if you had a collection system, in which you place your ores, rocks, and other crap onto this conveyor belt, and it travels and eventually drops into a collection bin hooked up to an allocator. This then automatically begins the process of refining the ore depending on how you set your production line up.
Now, you have to think to yourself "But, what about all the useless rocks? I mean, you can't exactly tell the conveyor belt to TURN whenever it senses some cobblestone." There IS a solution for that!
SIFTING FLOORS! (I know we're getting into hard coded properties here, but hear me out. I think this is a good idea.)
Imagine, if you will, a portion of the belt that allows certain items to drop through, but then keeps on pushing the rest onto the next sifter or conveyor.
Now, how would you do this? Make a sifter for ores? Make one for rocks? Hell no. That's just screwy and wasteful and not customizable enough, and it would be a pain in the ass.
My idea is simpler. Each sifting floor has an empty inventory you can add to (maybe 5-7 slots in each?). Every item you put into this inventory is what the sifter will sift out. It does this by automatically collecting matching items right above it, and then spitting them out below, keeping one left in its inventory at all times.
This basically makes it into an auto dispenser that doesn't have any projectile force to it. (Or maybe it does. Maybe you want to point the exit sideways launch items onto conveyor belts farther away?)
I think this could really work.
TL;DR then **** off
