*** The Total Conversion That is Incompatible With Everything!!! ***
[*** WHAT IS BETTER THAN WOLVES? ***]
Better Than Wolves is a "total conversion". This differs from most mods that you are probably used to in that it changes many of the rules of play to provide a richer experience, rather than just adding in new stuff. What makes it special however, is that it always attempts to do so in a way that retains the original spirit of the game, perhaps even more so than the newer official releases.
It focuses both on challenging survival play, and player creativity in terms of never providing "magic block" solutions to in game problems. Instead, it provides basic tools and leaves it to the player to figure out how to use them to get the job done.
In short, Better Than Wolves is a vision of what Mincraft could have been, designed by a very serious player, for other like minded individuals.
NOTE: With the closing and archiving of the Minecraft forums, I've trimmed down this first post to not contain any information that may change with time (such as latest version). If you'd like to stay up to date with the mod, I'd suggest checking out the BTW forums linked below.

Defined
Have you ever thought to yourself "Gee, Minecraft looks a bit flat and bland, I wish it would have some subtle depth to it!"? Well think no more! With the Defined texture pack every block is given a little bit more depth to make them look just that bit better! At first glance they may look just like the default textures, but on closer inspection they're quite a bit different... Don't believe me? Have some screenshots:
Refreshing Landscapes!
A new look for your crops!
Add charm to your villages!
Beautiful Strongholds!
Deeper ores!
Mobs!

1. Download the version of the texture pack you want above
2. Place the .zip into your Minecraft's texture pack folder
3. IF YOU ARE RUNNING MINECRAFT VERSION 1.4.7 OR LOWER You MUST Download MCPatcher and patch your Minecraft for HD Textures. As an alternative, you can also use Optifine which, on top of being an amazing mod, supports HD textures! If you are running version 1.5 or higher you will not need this.
4. Load up Minecraft, and in the Texture Pack menu select "Defined.zip" or "Defined32.zip"
5. Enjoy! If you like the pack, be sure to click the green + at the bottom of this post!

A note on 'Traditional Beauty':It has come to my attention that a few people believe this to be a copy of 'Traditional Beauty', another variation of the default textures to make them look nicer. I must inform you that this is /not/ a copy of that, and although they are similar they each have differences. Here are a couple of comparison pictures:
And here's a quote from BlowJoe (The creater of Traditional Beauty) if you're still not convinced
Quote from BlowJoe
Hey,
i just got here beacuse one of my TP users said that my (Traditional Beauty) and your Pack are looking pretty much the same. I have to say, no they aren't looking the same. Yes it is the same effect but the way to achieve this effect is in both TP an other. I realy like this pack and don't want that any of my users are comeing here and flameing it.
A *thumbs up* for this TP!
Choose whichever pack you will, but please try not to comment on this factor (:
Check out some videos of this pack in the spoiler!'Allstar602' has created a very useful review of this texture pack! See it here: 'TheModSpotlight' has made a nice review of the pack! Check it out!
'MinecraftUniverse' has also done a video showing all the blocks, mobs and lots of items! -

Zaggy1024 posted a message on [1.6.4] Improved First Person (Zaggy1024 taking over)Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Does it bother you that you have a disembodied hand, or that you can only see a very small portion of your skin, when in first person?
This mod makes your third-person player model show in first person, so no more disembodied hands.
Those aren't the only reasons you might want this mod, though. Having this mod makes you feel awesome while you're running. Being able to see your two hands moving like you're actually running really is cool.
Also, bows are held in your left hand (like real-life right-handed archers), which also feels quite epic.
Take a look at the screenshots to get an idea of what this mod does.
Please post here if there's any information you think I should add to the OP.
Screenshots:

Mining!
Flying creeper! (No, this mod doesn't make creepers fly. :P)
Killing stuff!
Eating!
Right-handed bow-holding!
Shameless self-advertising, these bows and arrows are from my other mod, Better Bows.

Files list page on CurseForge (download the latest version on the list for your version of Minecraft) [direct]
Take a look at the changelog on the file's page!
Installation instructions:
Step-by-step:
- Install Forge (instructions, see "Install Forge" section)
- Download the latest version of the RenderPlayer API corresponding to your version of Minecraft and install it according to its instructions
- If the file you downloaded for Improved First Person is a .zip, then extract the .jar inside.
- Copy the .jar for Improved First Person to the mods folder (was the coremods folder before 1.6.2) in your Minecraft folder. (In Windows, the normal Minecraft folder is in %appdata%/.minecraft. You can type this path in Explorer.)
Spotlights/reviews:
Reporting problems:
Before reporting a compatibility problem with this mod, make sure it isn't in this list of incompatible mods:
- Gulliver Mod: Incompatible because it replaces the vanilla player model.
- Better Animations Collection: Same problem as above.
- Any other mods that cause you to see inside your head: It's likely to be the same problem that the above mods have.
- Optifine: There appears to be an issue where Optifine replaces the player rendering code Improved First Person injects, try renaming your Improved First Person mod file in your mods folder to something starting with 'z' (to make it load after Optifine).
If it crashed, post:
- What you were doing when it crashed
- The crash log, if there was one
- How you installed it (yes, you do have to post this.)
License:
- You may decompile this mod to study its code only.
- If you wish to provide a download link in your website(only the original links, direct and Adfly) you may do so, but include a link to the original thread in your site's download page.
- If you want to include this mod in your modpack, you may include this mod in your modpack but without making money from it (Using Adfly links, etc. Asking for donation is fine.). Also, you have to provide a link to the original thread in your modpack's download page and credit me.

In the "Minegicka" folder inside %appdata%.minecraft there are config files for you to edit many options of Minegicka.
Let's start with Minegicka.cfg
<Config file as of 1B2> Water=T Life=Y Shield=U Cold=I Lightning=G Arcane=H Earth=J Fire=K Use Area Spell=F Use Magick=R Toggle Gui=P Toggle Gui Position=O Next Magick=X Previous Magick=Z Generation chance=30 Magic Book block ID=138 Magick Book item ID=17777 Basic Staff item ID=17778 Water Staff item ID=17779 Life Staff item ID=17780 Cold Staff item ID=17781 Lightning Staff item ID=17782 Arcane Staff item ID=17783 Earth Staff item ID=17784 Fire Staff item ID=17785 Steam Staff item ID=17786 Ice Staff item ID=17787 Shield Staff item ID=17788
Water,Shield,Fire,Arcane,Earth,Lightning,Life,Cold = ???
They are buttons to add the elements into the spell bar
You can use keys from this table: http://www.minecraft...odes#Full_table
Remember, use the key name, not the key value.
Example: NUMPAD1, ADD, RCONTROL, .....
Use Area Spell=?
Hold this button while right clicking to cast an AOE spell
Use Magick=?
Press this button to cast Magicks
Toggle Gui=?
Toggle Gui Position=?
These 2 buttons are used to show/hide the GUI and to reposition the GUI
Next Magick, Prev Magick=??
Scroll through learnt Magicks to be displayed in QMCD
Generation chance=?
Altar's generation chance, higher the value, more altars will be generated. Range from 0-100
Block ID, Item ID=?
It does what it says, you can edit the IDs here, but forge has auto ID built-in so it's not really important
Now the Quality.cfg file
<Config file as of 1B0> Beam Smoothing=12 Beam Limit=96 Beam FX Amount=250 Nova Smoothing=8 Nova Thickness=2
Beam Smoothing=?
Higher value and beams will look thicker, and cause more lag. Range 1-infinity. Recommended: 10-16

Higher value causes more lag when you shoot at nothing. Range 0-256. Recommended: 96-128
Beam FX Amount=?
Amount of the colorful particles that comes out of the beam
Higher value causes more lag. Range 0-500. Recommened: 200-300
Nova Smoothing=?
Similar to beam smoothing but for nova. Range 1-infinity. Recommended 8-16
Nova Thickness=?
Thickness of the layer of nova. Range 1-infinity. Recommended 1-5

Please, do not support ModLoader. It just makes it so we need a mod to get other mods, and sometimes, the mods are updated before ModLoader is. And it's not open source, which is @#$%ing retarded because modders have to decompile it just to make/update mods. Also, fireworks don't work with it for some reason.
Uhh.... Read the post date. You just replied to a post that's over a year old. -

He updates that pretty frequently. You can also donate to get access to the betas if you're really impatient! -

Thanks a lot for spoiling this for us, I wanted to find this out by myself, now there will be no unexpected suprise for me.
Europeans have to wait till 21st for Borderlands 2, so we got pretty much spoiled.
I didn't post even a fraction of the spoilers - this is just a taste. - To post a comment, please login.
