posted a message on Back from the dead
I have returned from a very, very long (I wanna say 'break'?). IDK, anyway, I am back. I don't have my own computer yet, but I am not going to be very active. Nonetheless, I am going to try to stay updated with this community as much as I possibly can.

Well, as long as it isn't one of those cheap x-ray texture packs, you're fine.

I think it's just retarded that you can't mine gold ore with a gold pickaxe.

I say let gold mine whatever iron can mine.

Assuming we all don't die on the 21st of December, the next Minecon should be hosted wherever Mojang wants it to be hosted! There is no place it SHOULD be hosted, stop being so selfish.

I think books should be cloneable like this. It would take the nbt tags and dump them into the quill - but it wouldn't sign the quill, so if you wanted to, say, update a book, you could.

Yes, the item would basically duplicate itself, similar to how maps can duplicate.

posted a message on Stop the boring diamond grinding
    Quote from Kionashi

Hi, this is a pretty simple idea to avoid mindless strip mining and boring grinding for diamonds we often see on SMP.....

the idea is this... adding a new condition to spawn a diamond ore block in the world generation,

1.-It must be next to a air block, water block, lava block or another diamond ore block

2.-Increasing the spawn rate of diamonds (because they will be a lot more rare)

    what i wanna achieve?

its simple...with this feature if people wanna get diamonds they will have to go cave hunting instead of exploiting game mechanics like strip minning to get tons of diamonds in a few minutes

You do realize that strip mining is done in real life. While natural caverns can be mined, most mines are man made tunnels that simply strip away the earth.

Unless the world was created by Herobrine, this is in no way a natural cavern...

Because, like I said, books use NBT tags to store data. If they used damage values, well... We can all guess. (because all books will have the same data on startup? Duh.)

    This is a valid point.

Why not have a written book and a book and quill in a crafting table? It would create 2 copies of the book.

Like how empty buckets are returned when crafting cake, one of the books will automatically be placed in your inventory when you select the crafted item.

By the way, brilliant idea for one of your first ever posts.

That is a basin that just happens to spawn near a body of water. Something very similar to that can be found on my seed 31337.

It is cool anyway, nice find.

posted a message on Hypixel Adventure Map - Herobrine's Mansion
    Quote from Roadsguy

He used the "secret" way to get a mob skull to look like a player. (Herobrine is probably an easter egg.) He then put the skull on like a helmet.

But come to think of it, the wiki says there's an actual user called "Herobrine," but nobody knows who owns the account. His skin is probably the obvious, hence the skull working. Maybe...

Yes, there is a property in head items called 'SkullOwner', which changes the skin of the head to match the head of the 'owner'. The exact name he used was not 'Herobrine', but I do not want to reveal the true owner out of respect to Hypixel (Hint, starts with the letter J). Who ever owns this account could troll this adventure map to an epic fail if they changed their skin to something else.

Although there is an account under the name of Herobrine, that skin used does not have a beard, a feature apperent of the cannonical Herobrine, as it was based off the classic 'steve' skin. This lack of authenticity may have been the reason to use a different account for the 'SkullOwner' property. It is a rather ingenious method of adding custom content without using mods.

Using the 'SkullOwner' property has allowed me to do similar things in my adventure map, Order of the Stone. It must also be noted that if you play an adventure map using this feature, without an internet connection, all player skulls will use the default steve skin, regardless of the owner, as the game cannot connect to the minecraft.net database where skins are located.

If given permission, I will reveal the identity of the Herobrine head users account. IDK if anyone other than me and Hypixel knows who it is, and I am not saying I am the only one. But if nobody else but us 2 knows, then I should keep this a secret unless told otherwise.
