    I'm sorry it took so long to answer... but since that happened, I believe your problem was solved after those 4 minutes. :P

    It's a bug I gotta catch, the security system to only allow the owner to open the chest for a period of time it not really working as intended. Disable it in the config.

    Sorry for the trouble.

    I like the idea of this mod, and that it costs levels to do anything with it really, but can you at least add a config for changing how many levels it costs to awaken the chests? as there may be some people who feel that only costing one level is just way too easy, if you have already implemented this then you can disregard my suggestion.

    Yep, already implemented! =) You can set how many levels it costs to awaken the chest and how many levels it costs to bind it. It can even be set to "0". ^_^

    Use the Guardian Chests mod. It will save your inventory into a chest.

    I just tried the new settings and the results were a bit odd.

    1. My skeleton was at the ground (from some other mod) where I died. It contained some feathers from chococraft.
    2. The guardian chest spawned beside my bed.
    3. I spawned at the original spawnpoint of the world.

    Before this update when I died the skeleton spawned where I died and contained all my items (including the camping mod bag and knife that didn't get contained before adding guardian chest).

    Any thoughts on how to be able to have both me and the chest spawn next to my bed? ;)

    High regards

    TomWolf

    Edit:

    The bones where I die are from Erebus.

    It changed my spawn point to the original spawn point of death and when I tried to die again the chest as well as me was at the new location and I had to sleep in the bed again and then the chest spawned there and my spawn was changed again to the original.

    I just tested it out here. There was only one case scenario that I could reproduce your issue: when the surroundings of my bed became obstructed either by the chests that appeared over sequential deaths, or because I blocked the surroundings myself with other blocks.

    If that happened just once, then the message "Your home bed was missing or obstructed" appears, meaning that my respawn point is reset to the original world spawn. The first time this happens, the guardian chest still gets to appear near the bed. But dying again after that will make it appear nearby the original world spawn, since that is YOUR new spawn point. If you sleep in the bed again, it will appear back by the bed.

    I don't see any other way that would make your spawn point reset, since I don't change that in my mod. My suggestion would be to try to clear some room around the bed (I think one side is enough) and don't let guardian chests to accumulate there.

    I hope it works! ^_^

    One thing I miss in the config is the ability to choose if the chest goes to your spawn location or death location when you die if you have turned the need to have the chest with you to off.

    Added in version 1.6!

    Thanks for the feedback!

    Wonderful Mod!

    I use it with NeverMine 2 Mod.

    If I am dead in another dimension, the guardian chest will disappear. :(

    Yikes! I'm sorry for your items. I'm sure they are at the coordinates of your spawn point, but in the dimension you died. I hope you can figure out the location it is so you can restore your items. Anyway, your loss wasn't in vain: thank to you, I fixed that bug in release 1.2, and uploaded it to curse. I believe it will be available to download in a few hours.

    Thanks for your feedback!

    No idea, I have never played it. But I work on it (on a rewrite, tho), so I dont actually know all the things in the 1.7.10 version :D

    Nice! If we find any compatibility issues, it will be easier to make it work. BTW, good job on Eternal Frost! Seems like a nice mod!

    Just a small question, is this compatible with the Eternal Frost 2 Mod? Its on 1.7.10, and it would be great to know.

    Hello again! I just checked Eternal Frost 2 Mod and didn't see any changes on inventory or death system. So I believe it is 100% compatible. ^_^ Some testing and feedback are never enough tough! Do you know if Eternal Frost 2 create any inventory slots or changes some death events (like introducing soulbound enchantments or something that keep your inventory items)?

    You forgot Mariculture for the compatibilty.

    I didn't mention Mariculture because, as far as I tested, it works just fine. I mean, the issue with mariculture are the jewels inside the mirrors, right? Just like other "inventory inside the item" mods, like backpacks mod and mariculture, all items will be kept inside the container, and the container will be saved inside the Guardian Chest. I should mention this and wait for some feedback. =)

    Thanks!

    This is actually a great concept. And I love how you actually gave credit to the people that inspired you at doing this. Tyler1555 I have personally been working with in the past, he is a member of the Minecraft coding team "Team Melanistic" (which does mods and stuff), which I also was a member of. Anyways, great mod, great concept, and I am pretty sure this will find its way into modpacks (well, if you give people modpack permission. Havent seen that mentioned in your thread).

    Thanks! I will add some info about modpacks. I completely forgot about that!

    //EDIT: Uh, also the OP says the chest cannot be broken... isnt that kind of... bad? I mean wouldnt that spam the area after a while, if I decide that I want the chest to spawn near my respawn location? Or does that "cannot be broken" only affect those first 5 minutes? How about you make it instantly disappear after all loot has been taken?

    Oh, I also forgot to mention: the chest doesn't work as a regular chest. As soon as you right click it, it drops all items saved, pops and disappears. So, they can't be destroyed by usual means, but opening them makes them instantly disappear in a cloud of greenish and redstone smoke. =)

    I can agree, especially since the only new change to the death system now is that intervention (soulbound equivalent) keeps items, everything else drops (including EXP). These issues should really be fixed, though I don't use gravestone mods so I wouldn't really care too much.

    I designed a new mod to work with this one. It's called Guardian Chests. It even makes soulbound equipment from Ars Magica or Ender IO, and Twilight Forest's Charms of Keeping work again, together with Advent of Ascension.

    Guardian Chests for Minecraft 1.7.10 (version 1.6, updated 09/28/2015)

    Guardian Chest

    Overview:

    Basically, this mod will spawn a chest at you death location and keep all your items in there. It was based on NightKosh's GraveStone mod, Dr.Cyano's Lootable Bodies mod and Tyler15555's Death Chest mod.

    Features:

    There are some worthwhile features that differs from those mods:

    1) An Awakened Guardian Chest must be in your main inventory when you die, so it will keep your inventory saved (this can be disabled in config file so you don't need to craft it).

    2) You can craft a Bound Guardian Chest too if you want it to spawn near your spawn location when you die. Really convenient, uh?

    3) The chest is unbreakable, and will only be opened by the owner for a while after his death. After 5 minutes, anyone can open it (this period can be changed in config file). When opened, it instantly disappear in a cloud of smoke and drop all items kept inside.

    4) You can make all enchanted items "soulbound" via config file (i.e: it will spawn in your inventory after death).

    5) Define the distance from its spawn point it will search a free spot to spawn.

    Download

    How do I get it to work?

    First, you have to craft a Guardian Chest. It's quite easy, and you only have to do it once.

    Recipe for a Guardian Chest

    Then you have to awaken it. Right-click with it in your hand to awaken the Guardian Chest - it will cost you 1 experience level.

    Also, you can turn the Awakened Guardian Chest into one - the Bound Guardian Chest - that will try to spawn near your respawn point (i.e: the place you slept the last time or the world spawn if you didn't sleep yet). For that you have to mix an Awakened Guardian Chest with an Empty Map. It will return you an Unbound Map. Don't worry - the Guardian Chest really loves drawing and won't be consumed in the process.

    Recipe for an Unbound Map

    Right-click with the Unbound Map in your hand to bind it to yourself - it will cost you 10 experience levels. Then return it to the Awakened Guardian Chest and it will become a Bound Guardian Chest.

    Recipe for Bound Guardian Chest

    You can remove his map anytime, just placing it on your crafting table. It will become a humble Awakened Guardian Chest again and you will get the Bound Map back.

    When you find a Guardian Chest, simply right click it to drop all items saved inside. Make sure there is no lava around! ;)

    The chest will go back to sleep and if it was a Bound Guardian Chest, it will drop an Unbound Map, so you don't have to craft them all over, just charge them with experience levels!

    (Also, you can find all the items inside the Guardian Chests Tab if you are in creative mode.)

    Options:

    In config file you will be able to:

    1) Disable the need for an Awakened Guardian Chest to save inventory on death;

    2) Define the period the chest will be secure and only open for its owner;

    3) Make all enchanted items work as "soulbound" (i.e: it will spawn in your inventory after death);

    4) Define if the chest will inform its coordinates;

    5) Define the level cost to craft an Awakened Guardian Chest and the Bound Map (even make it 0).

    6) Equipped items lose durability on death (can be disabled, set to damage based on percentage or absolute value)

    Compatibility:

    Compiled for Forge 10.3.13.1388-1.7.10 for Minecraft 1.7.10, using Java 8. The following mods are meant to work with Guardian Chests:

    • Ars Magica 2 (Soulbound equipment will return);
    • Advent of Ascension (aka: Nevermine 2) (will work and make Ars Magica/Ender IO soulbinding work too);
    • Battlegear (Equipped weapons will be saved too, if soulbound will stay in slot);
    • Baubles (Equipped weapons will be saved too, if soulbound will stay in slot);
    • EnderIO (Soulbound equipment will return);
    • Galacticraft (Galacticraft inventory will be saved too, if soulbound will stay in slot);
    • RpgInventory (RpgInventory will be saved too, if soulbound will stay in slot);
    • Thaumcraft (Every item added have aspects);
    • The Camping Mod (Camping inventory will be saved too);
    • Tinker's Construct (Tinker's Construct inventory will be saved too);
    • Travellers Gear (inventory will be saved too);
    • Twilight Forest (Charms of Keeping will work as intended);
    • All "inventory inside the item" mods, like backpacks mod and mariculture, items will be kept inside the container, and the container will be saved inside the Guardian Chest. I could use some feedback on these, but as far as I tested, it will work just fine, including Soulbound enchantment.

    P.S on compatibility: Any other mods that don't use custom inventory slots (like Galacticraft, The Camping Mod or Battlegear) or have integrated death mechanics (like Charms of Keeping or soulbound enchantments) probably will work just fine. The ones that uses new customized inventory slots will drop those inventory on death, but will be fine. The death mechanics changes that can be troublesome and probably will be overwritten by Guardian Chests mechanics.

    Just a notice: this mod conflicts with most mods that saves your inventory on death. I mean, they all load together, but you die and you lose all your inventory. I coudn't figure out anything in config file for any of these mods to make it compatible. I believe nevermine somehow changes the death event these mods work with:

    - Ars Magica 2 "soulbound" enchantment, Death Chest and Gravestone mods simply doesn't work when Nevermine is running.

    EXCEPTION: Dr. Cyano's Lootable Bodies works, but his mod is incompatible with "soulbound" enchantments.

    Compatibility issues are the most annoying issues when modding, so I think there is not much to be done. ^^
