To the point of mining obsidian in the nether... it'd be a nightmare.
All of the mineable obsidian would be right above another lava source, right above another, and another, and another.
You'd either lose a lot of obsidian or spend a lot of time to get a less than reasonable yield compared to effort.
Have you tried an obsidian farm?
I always chuckle when people live out in the desert to see mobs better.
I generally settle in forests; clearing them out for wood and a generally flat area with some bumps.
To be honest, only digging straight up is really that hazardous, and quick reaction time will save you.
Digging straight down is dangerous too, but you only have lava and possibly caverns to drop into for danger.
Pretty sure enchantments help with both of those though.
Personally unopposed, I've been wanting to make them sometime, but I usually come out with not enough time or just sheer lack of willpower. I'd only build one on a server I'd want to stay on, and many I don't for one reason or another.
My experience with griefing.
Before hand thoughts:
Has this person done me wrong? ->Yes ->No
Yes:How bad was it?
No:Okay, I'll leave them alone.
How bad was it? ->Stole items ->Griefed me -> Is being offensive (Not necessarily offending me, but is annoying at least)
Stole Items: Screw his house up a bit, tear down walls, take items back. (TnT if he hides his chests)
Griefed me:Make the place he lives uninhabitable.
Insulting: Do they use correct grammar?
Do they use correct Grammar? ->Yes ->No
Yes:Remove their floor by about 3-6 layers depending how large their floor is.
No:Don't grief (Picking on children is bad, people!)
After thoughts:
Do I feel bad? ->Yes ->No
Yes: Maybe fix it after a day or two.
No: Tastefully make art out of the remains.
Do I want to see their reaction? ->No
No: That will let them know I did it.
I'm in belief you shouldn't see even see names beyond blocks without crouching.
Besides, there is plenty of mineral in the ground, not like I won't find it without an x-ray.
(Also I don't feel like installing anything, too much mod madness in my time)
Oh thank you, that'd explain a lot. :biggrin.gif:
Here I was installing it over and over thinking I was doing something wrong. (Aside from version conversion failure)
