I don't see the big deal. What is written in the EULA is vague at best and open to interpretation. I don't see anything changing, and Rakanoth summed it up nicely.

posted a message on Chapter Two - Expedition Into the Twilight Forest
Hello again! I have become inspired once more to create yet another story for you, the readers! After such a positive feedback it was only logical to do so. After all, my dear readers, my joy from writing these stories is because of the joy you get from reading them.

Now if you're just joining us, here is the thread that started it all - http://www.minecraft...pected-visitor/

It wasn't very long and a lot of information has been purposely left out. Things such as "Who is bdanziq's character?" or "What is he doing that he had to seek solitude on a deserted jungle island?" and "Is he single?" but I digress, dear readers! Let us begin the next installment of my hopefully long-running story about the adventures of my character, who I have not decided a name for yet.

So, without further ado, let us begin Chapter Two - Expedition Into the Twilight Forest!

    =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=

    Journal entry 1TE (Twilight Expedition),

It only took me two days to uncover the method for creating the portal to the Twilight Forest. It wasn't particularly well-hidden. It's almost as if it wanted to be found, to be witnessed and experienced by anyone with the curiosity to seek it out. There has been much speculation about what this place is. Some say it was the earliest primordial years of Minecraftia, yet the buildings and architecture found there by previous explorers proves a far-superior intellectual understanding for that time period. I have to admit the preparations are making me anxious.

My reasons for securing a passage to the Twilight Forest is two-fold. First and foremost, as a means of having a good supply of lumber at hand. While I am in no short supply here in this dense island jungle, its mundane nature proves nothing more useful than tinder. Rumors speak of trees as tall as the highest towers in Minecraftia and more magical than the oldest of spell tomes. Experimenting with this type of material will be quite interesting. My second reason is to explore this alien world in hopes of uncovering lost bits of lore and history - perhaps providing a better understanding of who once lived during those times. After all, it's only natural for an intelligent species to document their history.

I have finished the preparations for my journey. I spent the day preparing a special room to make the portal more receptive to my ritual. The catalyst for the portal is a single diamond, tossed into the pool that will be the portal to the Twilight Forest. If I don't kill myself in the process, I will make another entry once I'm on the other side. Added to this entry is an image from my scrying orb to document the ritual process.

As you can see, the portal must be surrounded by material of nature. Grass, mushrooms, flowers, etc. Once the portal is prepared, you just toss a diamond and watch the magic happen, literally.

    Journal entry 2TE (Twilight Expedition),

While my portal, in theory, should work, something prevents the portal from opening. I have come up with multiple hypotheses regarding this phenomenon. Either the portal does not work at the depths I am at (I am several miles below the surface), my vis laboratory is interfering with the local aura, or perhaps something far more sinister is at work here. It seems I must do further research into this strange occurrence and come up with a means to remedy my problem.

My library is severely insubstantial in the readily available information regarding portals but I quickly compared notes with Aabadan's Lesser Portal Treatise and the stone tablets detailing the Twilight Forest portal ritual and discovered that for my portal to work, I must be in an area that is living, provides natural light as well as the natural foliage surrounding the portal. This is why my portal didn't work. I had the natural foliage but I had unnatural light surrounding the portal, not to mention my research has nearly sucked all the life out of the jungle I am currently residing in. Such is the price of progress.

There is only one option it seems. I must travel to the southern chain of islands and construct my portal there. Hopefully they remain untouched by the corruption my research is causing. I will make a note of reversing the taint when my work is complete.

Added to this entry are scrying orb images of my research for future reference. Note to self: Alphabetize the bloody library! Aabadan's Lesser Portal Treatise was next to Vis & You!

    Journal entry 301,

Blast it all! Only I could lose someone who was imprisoned in an underground fortress - but I do forget that this is no ordinary person. Yes, I am referring to Guest. In the past few days I have been absorbed by my work, connecting vis conduits and getting my laboratory operational before I plan an expedition to the Twilight Forest. Normally Guest would whimper and whine from hunger after a few days, which would remind me to feed him, but today I realized it's been nearly a week and I haven't heard a peep from that mongrel.

Fearing a corpse removal was imminent, I grabbed my shovel and made my way down to Guest's holding cell only to find it completely empty - and even more surprising - it was very bright! Sunlight! The blasted dog tunneled through the ceiling straight to the surface, which was several miles upward! There is no way he would have had the strength to make it that far without feeding for over a week, but then again maybe I don't know everything there is about his condition just yet. What a marvelous creature... I will make a note to set more trap seals around the island in hopes of catching him again.

But lets look at the positive side of things for now. My laboratory is now operational! I still need to add a few more devices so everything works properly but I've gotten the general layout of everything. I am making a still image of this moment in my scrying orb for future reference.

Thank you, dear readers, for sticking with me this far! This ends the Unexpected Guest chapter of my story - look for a new story to begin in the coming week! It will definitely be VERY interesting!

posted a message on How should I get food??
One cannot be picky in a survival situation. You will need to eat whatever you can find, which includes the rotting flesh of zombies. Also, I suggest collecting some bones from skeletons and creating some bone meal. It has very interesting qualities that make it indispensable to living in an unfriendly environment.

As the gentleman above me also mentioned, you can breed the chickens, but in two ways. You can collect the eggs they lay and toss them on the ground in hopes of spawning another chicken, or you can use some wheat (two of them should work) and feed them to each chicken. It should cause them to enter a state of infatuation and lust which, after a short period of humping, for lack of a better word, results in an adorable baby animal which in this case will be a chicken. This can be done once every five minutes.

For keeping chickens, I suggest digging a two block deep pit and surrounding it with fences. The height will keep them from getting out (usually) and the fence will keep other creatures from getting in. Make sure to properly light the area as well otherwise monsters can, and will, spawn inside with your chickens. I shouldn't have to tell you how dangerous that makes egg collecting.

Edit: It seems several others have posted before me while I was typing this long narrative. Curses!

I once stared into the void of an eldritch monolith inside some decrepit ruins and went mad, later dying of hypothermia. Apparently wandering an endless tundra is bad for your health.

posted a message on What did you do when you found your first diamonds?
When I found my first diamonds, I marveled at their unique natural architecture. I turned them at different angles in front of a light and observed the beautiful spectrums it created. It was like holding the very essence of Minecraftia in my hands.

Then I destroyed them in my crucible for vis and made a pork sandwich.

    Journal entry 287,

It has been years since I moved to the jungle archipelagos that stretch far into the northern sea. The seclusion the islands have brought me has afforded me much time to commit to my studies without the fear of discovery. However, I had an unexpected visitor today.

While I was nose-deep in tomes in the vis chambers still trying to perfect my portal research I heard an uproar in the jungles above. The squawking of birds and the growl of jungle cats let me know that whatever was up there was foreign to the islands. I stopped what I was doing immediately and made my way to the trapdoor to the surface, each step bringing me closer to what sounded like someone trying to make their way through the thick foliage of the jungle floor.

As I slowly opened the trapdoor hatch and looked around, I met eyes with a bedraggled fellow who looked like he had seen a demon, or he might as well have, heh heh. He had come too close to my secret entrance and triggered one of the defensive seals I had placed months ago, which reminds me that I should make a note of how long the seal lasted this time. This particular seal froze him in place and would not release him unless I disabled it, which gave me enough time to set up some "accommodations" for my dear guest. There was no worry leaving him up top with the wild animals around, for they learned to keep their distance long ago...

    Journal entry 293,

I have finished constructing the holding cell for Guest, which I have started to call him. He doesn't speak at all but he does seem to understand what I'm saying. He seems to have quite an appetite for meat, and will only eat it raw no less. Saves me less time in the kitchen, I suppose.

There is something even more odd about him, however. He seems to emit some type of strange aura. My thaumometer goes on the fritz every time I'm near him and only returns to normal when I am at a distance. Not only that, but every night while I'm in the study I hear nails on stone, like a dog's, running back and forth and the growls and howls of some lupine creature. Tonight I will spend some time with Guest and observe what happens.

    Journal entry 294,

Fascinating! Absolutely incredible! I wouldn't have believed it if I had not seen it for myself! It all adds up! The beasts of the jungle keeping their distance from him; the fact that he was able to make it to the islands without transportation of any kind; and even more, the fact he has NO recollection of the events. When the moon rises, Guest turns into some form of beast of amazing stature and ferocity! I am so glad I used iron bars for his cell and not wooden, oh I could imagine the consequences of that mistake! I'm getting ahead of myself, though.

That evening, I pulled up a chair in front of Guest's cell with a quill and parchment for notes. He never took his eyes off of me. He just sat there against the back of the wall, watching, almost waiting for something to happen. I tried to start a conversation with him again but he never replied, he only stared at me. Right around dusk I started to see immediate changes in his behavior. His breathing became irregular and his body started to involuntarily spasm. That's when the screams started. He was in some form of pain that I could only describe as horrible - and then the physical changes started. His hair started to become darker, and hair started to form in patches all over his body until he was completely covered in it.

His bones cracked as his body contorted and grew, nearly doubling in size. The change lasted only a few minutes when, standing before me was no longer a man, but some beast who would tear me to pieces given the chance.

I have saved images of Guest in my scrying orb for future reference and I will be holding him in custody indefinitely so I can further study his condition.
