I just hate that he would take out glitches that people actually "enjoy" they aren't breaking the game really and not everyone uses water ladders or boosters, he should leave it so we have to make our own choice on how WE want to play.. He shouldn't FORCE us to play the way he thinks it should be played. If everyone speaks up and lets him know that we want it the way it is now I'm sure he'd change it back.
I'm sorry, I couldn't quite hear you over your sense of entitlement.
It's his game, and he prefers features to bugs. I sincerely hope you aren't expecting him to keep those bugs unpatched forever, and I'm sure there'll be mods that let you play it the way you want to anyway.
I suggest upward-facing pistons as a substitute for water ladders (in which case you'll either have to get that mod or wait for them to be added), as they'll take up less space and serve the same purpose, and read up a bit on the new booster tracks and tricks for using them before you claim that everything related to minecarts is ruined for you.
Boosters in a loop can build momentum, and pistons shoot you up high enough and fast enough to stand in for a water ladder.
Come on people, multiple people pointed out that making an account is free and no one considered giving him one (that didn't actually have the game)? I thought you'd like seeing his hopes rise and then be utterly crushed when he realizes what happened.
1.) Delete META-INF
2.) Extract Modloader contents into minecraft.jar
Hold on a second...

Installation v13 (EXPERIMENTAL!):
This is a little more tedious to install than before but the benefits are that it should be compatible with any other mods. Does not require Modloader.
If it honestly wasn't working because of a lack of modloader, I'm not going to be happy.
Edit: No, had nothing to do with it, 13 uses modinjector. Also, it didn't blackscreen for me, the mod just failed to initiate at all.
I installed exactly as per the instructions for 13, and the mod didn't work at all. Pressing X didn't activate X-ray, and none of the other related keys worked either.
I wouldn't particularly mind if he added them, myself, but when you can more or less add one to your skin already it seems a little difficult to justify.
It's one of the many random splashes. I suggest you edit your first post entirely and mark that it's up for deletion, because this is just going to attract trolls and people who think you're a troll.
Edit: ... Well, ninja'd by perfectly reasonable responses. Maybe I should lower my cynicism a little. If this was about an ingame feature or update people would normally be all over the guy...
I think a lantern is a good option, and here's how I would do it:
I like the idea that lanterns could produce full light (15, one point higher than torches), can be hung from the bottom side of a block, and I would like it if they can be turned on and off (right click on a lantern to toggle, or use redstone). Lanterns could also be waterproof (like glowstone and jack-o-lanterns, they can be used underwater), and I envision them with a blast resistance of 10-15, so they have some chance of surviving explosions (at least creeper explosions) without needing to be at the very edge of their radius.
If lanterns had just the bolded features, they'd be worth it to me as a block. Waterproof isn't even completely necessary in my opinion for me to want this. A bright, redstone-powered light would make a great addition.
I see we've forgotten about dispensers, eh? It's a bit faster and simpler to make I believe.
Yeah... but he allegedly needs to kill someone who may be wearing diamond armor and can certainly teleport away to safety. This will most certainly not fit the bill.
Edit: Teleport isn't in this spell-check? Seriously?
I ran some tests and found that you need to fall at least 105 blocks to die while wearing diamond armor. So if you make a pitfall trap from a height of 105 to bedrock, it will kill the player without destroying their stuff.
Won't a fall that long give someone plenty of time to type in the teleport command if they don't panic? It may be a 1-hit kill, but it still isn't really 'fast'.
Seconding the 'rare bug' theory. The wiki says nothing about glowstone eroding, and it's been out long enough that someone would have noticed this happening if it did so under reasonable circumstances. Not sure if there's any way to pinpoint why this far after it's happened.
