The most fun are the ones the victim springs on himself. Not long before making this trap I had shown my friend how to make a dirt shelter and use a hoe to make a small slit to see out of. When he went AFK near a mineshaft I had started to dig I got a great idea. I pushed him into it and did this:
The block next to the water was hoed so he could see out, and when he broke it he was flushed down the mineshaft.
In my old mine, the lowest ground light level between torches is 10 and I've had spawns, just like in RaskVann's test. In my new mine, the lowest ground light level between torches is 11 and I haven't had spawns yet, but that doesn't mean they're not coming, just that I haven't had any. This is all at layer 5, the lowest layer anyone will generally be trying to mine.

For now my best guess is you're going to need light level 11 on the floor at layer 5 to keep your mines clear of mobs.
One tiny issue: you can't see through the doors. There's probably not a good fix for that. For now, we can just put glass blocks on either side. No other complaints so far.
I don't see a point. I think most people have a powerful enough computer to play it already, and it's not like it's hard to set up. I can't imagine there's this huge consumer base of people with an internet-connected console and no computer. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure Notch has no plans to charge for small gameplay updates, something Microsoft actually requires, rewriting the game for Cell architecture would just be a chore, and if Red Steel taught me anything, waggle doesn't actually work very well for First Person 3D games.
Basically, it's a lot of work and hassle for a consumer base that doesn't exist, and I'd rather Notch spend that time either updating the game he has, or working on a new one.
