posted a message on Thaumcraft 6.1.BETA26 [no longer being developed]

Today is the first day in a long time I've visited the forum. I'm stunned that Azanor is departing, it's like I'm seeing an era coming to an end. I hope by ending the development of Thaumcraft he gets the opportunity to enjoy his life more. Thank you for all of the memories and the experiences, Azanor. We'll all miss you.

Woah. What on Earth did I miss after all of this time? Vampires and Automatons look amazing, and the Wendigo gives me shivers of anticipation.

Has anything happened with this mod recently? The main page is exactly as I remember it.

If you take a wide swing that is intended to do more damage, it is most certainly going to take at most 3-4 seconds to pull it back up for another. In game, it doesn't even take that long for it to recharge. I don't care what 'CaptainSparklez' said. He isn't known particularly well for his understanding of game balance. You can kill plenty of cows with half-decent timing. With an iron sword, one and a half swings will kill it without a hassle. It's not like you're in any rush to kill a barnyard animal that won't attack back.

Heck, in a vanilla world I've been working on for months now, I lost my dog last night because I couldn't recharge a swing in time(Rest peacefully, Dell). But I still support the blasted system. I'm happier with it not being a 1980's fighting game where whoever spams faster wins. As are many players who hated it equally.

You're saying it's not realistic, and then declaring that gameplay trumps realistic behaviour? It's plenty realistic, and it adds timing to the list of things that you should consider during gameplay. Your weapon should take time to swipe and then an extra instant to recover. The majority of complaints about the latest combat system are based on the large quantity of spam-happy tweenagers who don't take the time to consider how they can use timing and patience to their advantage. If you don't like it, use a ranged weapon.

I stand by the fact that 1.7.10 is the golden age of modification. 1.8 is the silver age, mostly because that's as far as some of the really good mods have gotten. There are certainly exceptions for later and previous versions, but they aren't a rule. Regarding the thought that the mod is dead, you clearly aren't paying attention. It's getting regular support and is still followed by many of the players that played when it first came out. 1.7.10 is not obsolete, it still functions on the same level as later versions. It just doesn't have some of the changes that could be considered to be in poor taste.

I believe that option is in the mod's config. You can find this by navigating to your .minecraft folder(Which, if you already installed the mod, you likely already know how to do.). There you'll find a folder that(I think.) says 'configs'. In there, you'll find the configuration file for this mod. That should have a setting that determines how far away from spawn the Farlands begin.

Apologies if any of this is incorrect, I haven't played with mods in a lifetime and my files reset when I installed the latest launcher.

Hey! I've been gone for a while, has anything monumental happened here?

Edit: There's a real, tangible download now?! No way! I should've come back months ago!

Thanks & good job Robijn, but I would put money on people not even looking through old comments before requesting a 1.7.10 version again.

An atlas item that you can put all of your maps in. It would display the map inside of a 3-Dimensional book texture. You can switch displayed maps by using the numpad keys 8(Up), 6(Right), 2(Down) & 4(Left).
